Rain, rain and more rain Throwback Tuesday #31

A rainy week with two giveaways

I was caught in the rain on my bicycle three times last week and I really hate that! On Monday Gerben took the car away again to have the scratch removed. And we got it back on Wednesday and the scratch is gone! On Tuesday I had to cycle in  the rain twice, gosh I looked awful. Wednesday it was cold and gray and stormy. But still decided to go cycling with Denise for a while. Is good for your mental health, shall we say. Also on Wednesday Gerben and I were together for 29 years!

For the second day this week the rain caught me

Wednesday, Denise and I wanted to cycle a bit. It was very cold and I was wearing so many layers that I could barely move. We had been cycling for less than five minutes before the first raindrops fell on our noses. After half an hour it started to rain harder and we went home again. Still cycled for an hour. But again I got wet while cycling and I really hate that. At home we drank tea and chatted together.

Gerben and I were together for 29 years on Wednesday. We didn’t celebrate it, neither with just the two of us. Gerben had breakdown service, so we couldn’t even drink a glass of wine on it! But we promised each other to add another 29 years. Yeah, that would be a miracle….. she said with a undertone of sarcasme….

I am getting a bit down over here

On Thursday I was on my bike for a change without it raining. But it rained all afternoon, so boring. And it is getting more boring because we now have a curfew and are allowed to only have one visitor per day. Also only two persons outside. I mean just Gerben and me, not Gerben and me and two others. Oh well, anything for it to go away! Friday was…… yes? Do you know it by now? Cleaning day! And Amaretto with my coffee! Or Tia Maria.

By the way, I hosted very nice giveaways on Instagram last weekend on Saturday and Sunday! You can still participate! On Saturday we went cycling for a while. Well, I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but here in the Netherlands we can’t do much more than that. It was really very cold and when we got home I immediately took a bath to warm up. On Sunday we sat outside in the sun for a few hours and when the sun was gone, and it started raining again of course, we played Rummikub.

By the way, on Saturday I got that rash on my face again! What a misery. I try to stay positive but if I let myself go, it will make me very depressed! Bah! My hair doesn’t look good either, I am so grey and really need a haircut, who doesn’t!, and I also hate my short not colored nails.

And if that sounds superficial then so be it! Believe me, I really know what’s important in life! Haha, whine, it’s my blog after all! But we are moving back to something lighter! The month of January is almost over, which means that spring is really getting closer and more and more people are being vaccinated. I can’t wait for this shit to be over.

Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.

I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!

Happy anniversary! I give you such credit for continue to cycle in the rain… I tend to turn right around and get inside the minute it starts raining. (though I am getting better about hiking in it if it’s not raining too badly as the trees do block much of the water).

Indeed. And it isn’t even that bad, but if it is pouring I don’t cycle for fun. This morning I got very wet twice again!!

Hugs. We can all empathize with being up and down. Although I can’t imagine the long, wet and rainy days, I do know about needing a change in seasons. I have to say that being able to dive in and connect online with other bloggers has really helped me stay somewhat connected throughout this past year. It’s definitely not the same as hanging out with friends, sharing food, laughter and creating memories, but it’s finding new ways to connect creatively and celebrate and uplift others. So virtual hugs to you.

I am glad you are still able to cycle, I am impressed for you still riding the bike in the rain. I haven’t been great about exercising in the past week. I do know that getting dress and getting my hair cut helps me feel good, I am very grateful for my neighbor’s friendship as we walk and exercise together and just visit in our driveways several times a week.

Haha, yes of course it could be a lot worse. that doesn’t mean that makes it less awful though! And wear in Holland did you stay?

  7. 26th January 2021 / 18:22

Cycling in the rain doesn’t sound like much fun. I did my fair share of it in my school days, though.
Congratulations on your 29th anniversary! Jos and I will be “celebrating” our 26th next week. Can’t believe it’s almost one year ago since we went to Bruges for a couple of days to celebrate our Silver Anniversary. The last of the carefree days!
I’ve heard about your new restrictions. We can only invite one person inside our homes, and it has to be the same one every time. And outside we can meet up with a total of 4 people, so Jos and I plus two others!
I’ve also been hearing about those riots! What is wrong with people? Such horrible behaviour! xxx

Happy anniversary Nancy. And this craziness is affecting us all!! We just want some social interaction and to stop all of the fear tactics (at least that’s what I want).
It’s so impressive that you still go biking even when it might rain. I’m such a wimp!!

Happy Anniversary! You looked so cute all bundled up in that scarf. Keep cycling! Gosh- I hope things ease up for you all soon. My daughter is in touch with her good friend in the Netherlands often. Those restrictions seem harsh for sure. Hoping for sunny days headed your way soon! Try not to let it get to ya.

29 years- a great milestone! Also your cycling. I admire your determination in going out when it’s cold and raining. Hang on in there, better times will come. The death toll here has now passed 100k. It’s so sad.

No need to justify wanting to have your hair and nails done. If it makes you happy that’s all that counts. When I was still working, I loved getting my nails done. It was an hour of quiet pampering. I think knowing the vaccines are coming is making it harder to be patient.

Many congrats to you and Gerben!

That is awesome! And I am sorry to hear that the rash came back on your face, that stinks Nancy. I hope it clears up quickly, hang in there!

There is a saying that there’s no such thing as bad weather – only bad clothes! I go walking most days and wear a full set of wet gear so that I’m prepared for the rain.

I understand how you feel about your hair. Mine is growing too quickly and I am ready for a cut already! I need a colour too, but won’t be trying that on my own as I’m too scared.

Lovely to catch up with you Nancy.

    Cheers

Nancy, I totally relate to all of your frustrations right now…well, except for the rain. We just keep getting snowed on instead! My hair is so gray right now, I just keep wearing hats! But I may color it at home this weekend because I think I hit the point where I cannot stand it anymore! Happy 29 years to you and Gerben!

I didn’t even notice that you were getting grey. I don’t color it myself, I just sit it out and hate it! Lol.

      • 1st February 2021 / 18:22

Ha, I couldn’t stand it anymore and dyed it this weekend! And now I think the black is too dark and harsh for me. I guess I will let the grey come back! Haha

We are inundated with rain here too, Nancy – we jokingly call the west coast of Canada the “wet coast”. It can really cause one’s mood to plummet, but there is something very cathartic about being out in it, I think.

I love your plaid skirt – so cute! I hope you are doing better – that awful rash! Take care, my friend.

Your biking trips sound lovely, even with the rain! Sometimes it is just nice to get out for some fresh air, even if the weather isn’t ideal. I know I have rain in some chilly weather! That food looks delicious and congrats on 29 years!!
