And back to about half a year ago here in the Netherlands. Back to how it was in the beginning of Corona. Gone is all we accomplished, and we have to stay at home once again. And it all has to do with people who went on a holiday abroad!
* The featured photo is from the beginning of March just before the virus hit the Netherlands. We were lucky we got away a few days, in own country, just in time.
Can’t understand why the EU top couldn’t agree on vacation in own country. In public, it is strongly advised to wear masks now. (What advice! just make it mandatory) The number of visitors in the catering industry will be reduced to 30, and at home you can only receive three people. For us, that means staying at home as much as possible. Don’t go out for dinner at the weekend, don’t see friends and family for a while.
Staying at home and what to do
- Culotte
- New sweaters
These times, short days, dark early, don’t make me happy anyway. I am a real summer person. Always want to be outside, but yes I am also always cold. What is the problem with a lung disease like mine is that my body already has trouble pumping enough oxygen around, and there is not enough energy left to keep the body warm in the cold. I also notice that the more you deteriorate, the faster you get cold and it is also more difficult to get warm.
Thank god for hot flashes haha. See, there is always a positive side! LOL. Did you really think this was going to be a pathetic depressing story? Well then you don’t know me enough yet! Which means that you have to visit my blog much more often! LOL. Oh awful, I’ll stop!
Going out when we can
- When Gerben cooks
- he makes such a mess, but also a mean lasagne!
- Making desert, vanilla sauce and apples with nuts honey and raisins in the oven.
So this was not such an interesting week either. And the coming weeks will probably not be that exciting either. You see that I’m not that good at promoting myself, I have to say that the coming weeks will be great fun and that you should definitely stop by on the blog!
Wednesday evening we went to my parents-in-law. My dear mother-in-law turned 82 on Thursday. And to avoid crowds she had visitors on different days and times. Saturday we rummaged at home and Gerben went to look for another car. We know a little bit what we want, but the wheelchair has to fit too. Sunday the sun was finally shining again and we went to the national park. So beautiful in the fall. We saw a mega mushroom and the deer. But it was so busy there that we drove on. You only see them in the distance anyway.
- Beautiful blue sky
- Insect hotel?
- Mushroom, but half eaten. (not by me!)
- Huge mushroom. There were a man and a women photographing it with huge lenses, and then came I with my phone……
Have a great week everyone.
Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!
- Friday I made hot chicken with gado gado and rice. Indonesian food.
- This is something I could eat every day.
- Sunday we ate grilled chicken breast and grilled vegetables with a yoghurt garlic sauce and hasselback potatoes.
Such yummy foods! You have some pretty new sweaters too.

Thanks, yes I am very happy with them!
Too bad that you had to go back to the way it was…the whole thing stinks, doesn’t it?
Glad hot flashes are actually helpful to you – can I send you mine? That’s what friends are for!!!

They are kind a good in winter aren’t they, lol.
Even if you don’t do much, I think we all like to see a little glimpse of your life. I hope you will have lots of sunny days even if cold days! I do that makes a difference in my moods to see the sun shining. This morning I took pictures of the fog/mist in a field. Like you I always funny when I take pics with my phone and see others with their fancy cameras.

I think so too! The table is set for you!
Oh, I’m sorry to hear things are going pear-shaped again in the Netherlands. Well, here too, of course. And although mask wearing in shops and busy places in mandatory here, not much else is being done. I wouldn’t want to go back to the situation of six months ago either, but we haven’t been “out” much anyway and have only seen Jos’s children and one couple of friends in all that time. I don’t mind Autumn or cold much, but I do get that you are a Summer person, and that you are always cold due to your lung disease. Hurray for hot flashes 🙂 I’m pleased to hear that at least you were able to go for a walk in the national park! Seeing your dishes makes me feel hungry 🙂 xxx

Haha, me too! On the dishes part. Yes it is getting scary again here. Luckely Gerben and I love to stay at home and play boardgames or watch a movie or just doing things around the house. But I do miss going out for dinner with friends.
Your dinners look so good, it makes me want to be one of your guests. I’m so sorry about another lockdown. It’s really gotten crazy. At this point, I know a lot of people who’ve had the virus. Some people breeze through, others it’s harder. I don’t know anyone who’s passed away.

We had one person who passed away in March and for the rest no one. Not even know any other person who had it. But it’s increasing hard here!
So sorry to hear of a lockdown. Masks are madatory where we are and we still have cases. We actually got Covid19 and are recovering. It’s not fun and pretty scary however we did not have to be hospitalized for anything which is a plus. I hope you find some things to do at home!

Oh I have enough to do! Don’t worry. But I do miss going out for lunch or just a cup of coffee or something like that!
I’m sorry you’re having to go into lockdown again. Although our state is not in lockdown mode, we still behave as if we are. At least masks are mandatory here. There are still some who don’t wear them, which annoys me, but it is better than when masks were just recommended.
Your hot flash quip made me laugh out loud.

Haha, it feels really good on the bicycle too!! Haha!
We just have to be positive although it is not so easy. It’s such an awful time we are all going through and if some people were not so selfish we would be in a better place.
Stay safe, Nancy!

I agree, we have to do this with the hole world!
I get cold easily too (I have Reynaud’s Syndrome) and have been grateful for hot flashes! Ha, at least they are good for something, right, Nancy?
It’s easy for us now to say “Why didn’t we do X?” but we have to remember, we didn’t know very much when this first started, and this is the first time the world has experienced a pandemic of this magnitude. We did the best we could, and we can’t change it by complaining about what’s already done.
Have a good week, Nancy!

Well, everything went pretty good here until the August vacations. Then when people came back from abroad, it went wrong!
Oh wow, Nancy, you are locked down again? How frustrating. I love your new sweaters and you and Gerben really eat well! So many delicious food pictures every time! Thanks for linking.
