The nice thing about this time of the year is that I spend more time shopping in my wardrobe. I hardly ever buy anything new in January and February. And in March perhaps one or two things. ( not talking about pre loved though) First of all, there is usually only sale or the in between collection which I never liked, and I am not crazy about the sale. Why not? I hear you ask. Because I bought the clothes that I liked and are now on sale a few months ago. By the way, I did buy something new, these paperbag trousers, but they are more of a basic …. right? (just say yes)
Shopping my wardrobe, yes I do that….
But the nice thing about shopping your own wardrobe is that it often results in combinations that you have not yet tried. Well, this is really not an exciting combination to you, but I prefer the simple looks. But the funny thing is that I have been looking for gray trousers for a while to create a monochrome grey look. But I often can’t find nice trousers. Not entirely true either, because last fall I bought several! And then I remembered this skirt, velvet, wonderfully soft, with elastic waist band, it’s so nice and easy. No need for grey trousers.
And it’s not that I had forgotten about this skirt, because I wear it often. But often we don’t take the time to look in our wardrobes and try out some different outfits. Often we go for the usual looks that we feel good in. Nothing wrong with that, but when I make the time I love to see what I haven’t worn together yet.
Try to shop my closet more
Of course I could have worn gray boots with it, these ones then, because the longer ones have not been replaced yet. But I also think these boots look great underneath. These are quite old ones, but I think they are so beautiful. Cool too. They are from Tamaris which is a brand I love. I often wear a red lipstick with a less outspoken outfit, but since I have no teint at the moment, and I don’t use foundation or bb, cc creams at all, my face looks even wither with a bright red lipstick. So I opted for a berry one. And statement earrings! All from shopping my wardrobe!
I would love it if you would share your outfits with #nancysfashionstyle and tag @nancysstyle! Thanks!

Very pretty look. I like the berry shade of lip color with the silvery blue-gray of your outfit. I never think to buy rings…only my wedding set and some hand-me-down rings. Have never picked out a ring for myself. Maybe I should!! Yours is such a lovely statement piece.
Author
Thanks Leslie. I don’t often wear rings, because I only like statement ones and they are not always handy to wear!
Such a great monochrome outfit! it’s nice to shop our wardrobe and come up with new combinations – not buying anything lets us be more creative for sure! 🙂
Thanks for the link up 🙂
Hope you are having a good Easter weekend 🙂

Indeed and we don’t need all the clothes do we. Have a fabulous Easter weekend!
This is certainly something I need to do Nancy. I’m just about to do the wardrobe change over and looking at all the winter stuff hanging in there and seeing what I haven’t even worn. A big cull is on way unless I can think of switching some items up. Have a lovely weekend xx

Have a great weekend Laurie, still figuring out if Roman’s send to the UK. I need that floral dress, lol.
I don’t really like shopping end of season sales either, I kinda hate the idea of buying something I won’t wear for a year! I do love spring sales – when they put new stuff on sale I am like a kid in a candy shop.
I think these boots look better than grey ones would; they’re a nice contrast!

Thanks Kellyann, I agree on the boots part! Spring collections always make my heart jump!
I first thought that the skirt is made out of silk, Nancy :). It’s rally pretty and I love that you wear high boots with it.https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/baked-chicken-breast/

I do like your all grey outfit, especially the velvet skirt. So true , shopping your wardrobe makes you think of combinations you may not have thought to try before. Enjoy your Easter Nancy.

It’s fun to shop our wardrobes and find new combinations. I don’t do it as often as I should. You and I think the same about sales – hate them!
Love this pretty metallic pleated skirt!! Your statement ring is super cute, too.

Nancy, I have been shopping my wardrobe mostly for the past year. And living in my leggings of course.
Love this combination.
I love your outfit! The pleated skirt is so pretty and looks great with the boots! I have not bought many things lately as there isn’t anywhere to go! Better days ahead!
Happy Good Friday and Easter, Nancy!

I really like how you paired it with those brown boots! Gives it just the right pop of color, but it’s still more subtle being the darker color. It’s great!
Loving the camel boots! Suzy is wearing a pair too today and they are really nice with your outfit.

I love your monochrome look with that great swishy velvet pleated skirt! I shopped my closet this week, too. It does help us to rediscover possibilities that we haven’t tried together before and already have on hand. Creativity plus no money spent, it’s a win-win situation! Thanks for the link up, and hope you have a lovely weekend!
Well I have to admit to buying a few things over the past few months, I agree it’s normally sale stuff, but I’ve picked up some bargains that will get plenty of use (my wide leg trousers in a tan shade) Love this look on you too Nancy, it really suits your colouring. Jacqui x
What a wise decision, dear Nancy! You know I love pleated skirts and I especially love YOURS. this is really a wonderful outfit, that I would like to wear too 😉 You look so pretty.

I personally love an all-gray outfit, Nancy. This look is so polished and classic. And the tan boots are just perfect–I love those tones together! And yes, those paperbag trousers are definitely a much-needed basic!! Lol! Have a lovely, sunny weekend.

That skirt is so beautiful and I love the flow to it! This all gray look really works and I love the bright lippy you have on. I want to go through my closet and swap my winter for my spring items and see what I want to keep and what I need to wear more! I feel some of my warmer clothes got neglected last year with Covid and being indoors so much!

I love your velvet skirt, Nancy, and I think the brown boots make an unexpected and interesting alternative to black or grey. It’s just a little bit different!
