Okay, so this is another story of how I had this dress before and now bought it pre loved again. Maybe you think, what is she talking about. You might want to read back here. But this story is even more fun! For me anyway, lol. I styled this dress two ways and would love to know which one you like best!
How I bought this dress again
I’m going to tell you the story about this dress. When I came to work in 2007 at Steps, a trendy ladies fashion store, I first had a month of training in Enschede to be a shopmanager. During this month you did not have the privileges of buying the clothes with a 50% discount. And what came into the collection that month? Right! This dress. And I was in love with it straight away. I loved the beautiful colors, the frivolous design and the high low hemline. In short, the dress was crying out for me to buy it.
But I gave it a damn buying it for the full price. Luckily the person who trained me was so sweet to buy it for me and I was so super happy with the dress! I enjoyed it for years, until it was completely washed out and worn out. A long time ago I saw this one on the online pre loved site and I decided to buy it. By the way, this design sold so fast that many were designed in various color combinations. So this was a bit of a surrogate dress. And in the meantime it is no longer a dress but a skirt.
Oh I am so thrilled about this gorgeous dress
And then ….. I saw the dress and in my size online! Of course I had to have it. The lady who sold it had barely worn it and I got a nice discount from her too. I paid € 7.50 for the dress. And the black is just as deep black as it once was when I bought it! Gosh I am so happy with this one. I can’t believe that after 13 years I found that dress again. I remember I wore a short black cardigan back then over the dress and cognac boots. I don’t have those boots anymore but I love these underneath. You already saw them here.
I styled the dress two ways. As you can see the waistline of the dress is a bit to high for me. So in the second look I am wearing a belt to make the waistline lower. And I thought perhaps black leather leggings and suède wedged ankle boots would look better. But I prefer the shorter cardigan( which I tied at the back so it looks like a bolero) and the cognac boots better! But with the belt. Did you ever buy the same item again?
PS: Maybe I alter this one in a skirt too, as I think it is a bit to short for me. What are your thoughts??
I would love it if you would share your outfits with #nancysfashionstyle and tag @nancysstyle! Thanks!

It’s the perfect dress for you and all the more precious because you bought it twice! The same thing happened to me with a green and navy patterned skirt, I wore it out and then saw the same skirt on eBay and snapped it up!

Aren’t those the best finds! Thanks Gail!
Ha! I can see why you bought that dress again! Beautiful! And I truly can’t decide which look I like best. They are both fabulous!

That’s a beautiful dress and I love the belted cardigan over it! 🙂 It’s so fun you could find a piece that was so special to you! 🙂
I once thrifted a dress I was sure I had owned before – same style and print, just different colours. Unfortunately the thrifted dress fell apart 🙁 But a few years later I found a photo of me in the old dress! And I did, so briefly, have owned and wore the same dress just in a different colour! 🙂
Thanks for the link up 🙂
Hope that you have a nice weekend planned ahead of you 🙂

Haha, funny is that isn’t it! Have a great weekend Mica!
Nancy, what a fantastic dress! And how great that you were able to find it again! I hate when my favorite things wear out beyond repair and very rarely can we ever find the exact same thing to replace those worn out favorites. That is a lovely gift from the universe that you found the dress in your size again. You look wonderful in it! I really like the color palette and the fun pattern and the cool handkerchief hem style of the dress. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

What a treat to find something you loved before, pre-loved, again! It’s like running into an old friend when you are nowhere near home. I had the same experience with a backpack/purse. And I love the new color combination even better than the old!

I have done that with a blouse this past year: I had it but it was too large for me and found it in my real size while thrifting! It was an exciting find.

Lovely dress and great looks! This dress looks really pretty and how great that you managed to buy the exact same dress again after all these years!

My pleasure love! Thanks!
How lovely that you found your favourite dress again, and in your size and in perfect condition too! Of course, you had to be buy it again, and I can’t believe you only paid € 7,50 for it.
Your first styling, without the belt and with the tan boots, is my favourite!
Wishing you a wonderful and hopefully sunny weekend Nancy xxx

I like that one the best too, but feel I need to wear that belt with it! Thanks Ann!
Wow, Nancy, you having that dress was meant to be! ANd it is lovely. The tapestry design in those rich browns and bronze is just gorgeous! I like it both ways but somehow the version with the cognac boots just speaks to me. I guess I like the contrast and the emphasis on the brown tones.

I adore this handkerchief hemline and how funny that you bought the same dress you had before. I have also rebought something that I used to own, but in both cases, the things I rebought were likely mine. One was a skirt that I’d given away to a friend – I found it again a few years later at Value Village and bought it again (it’s long-gone now). The other was an eelskin bracelet in blue that I owned back in the 80s. I donated it decades ago, then saw it in a thrift store a few years ago – it had to be my own bracelet again! of course, I bought it.
Thanks so much for the link-party, Nancy!

Hi Nancy
I dont think it would be too short as a skirt ! I can see why you loved the dress! I love the hankerchief hem and the scarf style print. You look so good in black, love the layering. I have been mostly buying Poshmark thrifted items lately.
