I found this plaid tweed skirt back in my closet when I needed something pre-loved for the The Thrifty Six series. I had actually forgotten about this skirt a bit. This was before I completely turned my closet upside down and rearranged it into basics and keypieces. Otherwise I would have seen it earlier. Have you ever heard of the Lonneke method? She is a Dutch stylist. And works according to basics and keypieces. Very interesting. And satisfying I might add.
My history with this plaid tweed skirt
The funny story of this skirt is that when I was still working, in a trendy women’s fashion store, I bought this skirt. I have told it before, I was a branch manager and got a 50% discount on the clothes. Well you may have some idea how much of it went home every week. But at one point my skirt was worn out and I got rid of it. By the way, this was more than 10 years ago. I haven’t been working for eight years. But last year I came across this plaid tweed skirt again on the second hand site and I bought it immediately!
Styling a plaid tweed skirt
But I’ll be honest, I’m going to sell this one! I just don’t think the skirt suits me that much anymore. Too short anyway. But I had a lot of fun with it so it is not that bad.
I wear it here with a cool biker jacket and a off white ruffled blouse and suède boots. For some reason I always wear these wedged boots with this skirt. Probably because the boots are suède and that suits better with the thick tweed of the plaid skirt in my head. And because the plaid tweed reminds me of Chanel tweed (if only) I am wearing a lot of pear necklaces!
Guess what! Only when I finished this post I found out I showed this skirt before, with the same story about it, lol. Ah well, you can decide which styling is better then! And I didn’t wear the wedged ankle boots there!! But I did had that Chanel feel.
Shop the plaid tweed skirt look!

Nancy, that plaid does look like a Chanel plaid. I have rarely met a black & white look that I haven’t liked and this is no exception. So chic!

I love tweed and pearls together! that’s such a pretty skirt, it’s a shame you think it is too short, it’s a great length on you! But as you wear it so rarely I understand you wanting to let it go.
Thanks for the link up 🙂
Hope that you are having a good week 🙂

Yes it is interesting, but she is a Dutch stylist.
Well I’m glad that I don’t actually have to choose which outfit I like better. They are both awesome! I’m going to have to look up the Lonneke method.

I did think the story sounded familiar 🙂 But I had no idea you were planning on selling the skirt again.
I’m hearing you, though. If you love clothes and fashion, your style constantly evolves, and something we loved and wore to death 10 years ago might not be us anymore. I once bought a second-hand skirt I’d owned before as well. It was a spur of the moment thing, but when I got it home and tried to style it, it just felt meh! I have to say that I do like the outfit you created here, though. xxx
Author
Yeah funny isn’t it. I was just thinking that I wore that skirt a lot also with flat highbloots. Perhaps that might look better!
That is a super-cute skirt and I can’t blame you for re-buying it – it does have a very Chanel vibe. I like how you’ve styled it, but maybe that wide A-line is feeling a bit dated? I can’t really say, though, as I’m a fan of big wide skirts! I also re-tell my clothing stories nearly every time I re-wear a piece! I can’t expect readers to remember! Ha ha!
Thank you so much for the link-up, Nancy!

Haha, no indeed. I love the skirt but there is something about it….
I can’t believe you’re going to sell that skirt Nancy. It’s definitely not too short and it’s so fabulous!!

Haha! I love this story, Nancy. I thought the skirt looked familiar! You’ve styled it very nicely, but I know how you feel. If it doesn’t feel right to you, it’s better to pass it on. Happy weekend!

Indeed, someone else would be more happier with it.
I can see why you had to buy this cute little skirt again. Love how you styled it too but if it feels too short and you are uncomfortable wearing it you are wise to let it go. Many thanks for hosting Nancy.

Thanks Jill.
I have been wearing more skirts lately too. I love the flounce and the plaid print. Looks so fun especially with the long pear;s!
