Hi everyone, I am back again! Back from vacation, back from two weeks of enjoying and relaxing, back from our holiday in The Netherlands. Recovering from the stress that life brings these days. Unfortunately we couldn’t go to our beloved England, but we have discovered some beautiful places in our own country. And we had gorgeous weather, which makes all the difference of course!
Holiday in The Netherlands
- Italian food, always a good idea.
- Gerben made delicious pork belly Asian Syle.
- Wearing shorts a lot, around the house that is.
- My new tulle skirt. I am showing you more soon.
The first week of our holiday in The Netherlands, we went to Drenthe. Drenthe is very green and very diverse. Lots of moors and forest. And full of characteristic villages where occasionally life seems to stand still. Which is sometimes very nice. We stayed in a small hotel and cycled a lot. I just got my new bike so I had to get used to the saddle! Gosh, I’ve had some saddle pain! But it was very beautiful and we enjoyed delicious meals in the hotel, something we consider not unimportant.
Back home we shopped in Arnhem a bit, I found the perfect gold colored top, vintage by Clio! We invited friends over for a bbq and read in the garden, enjoying the sun.
The second week we went to Texel for a few days, a Wadden island. Of course always wonderful to be on an island, you get a bit of that England feeling.(not really, nothing beats the UK in my eyes) But how busy it was! We’re not quite used to that yet. Didn’t like that part at all. And Dutch people are just very rude, sometimes I feel ashamed to be Dutch. But we also cycled here a lot, through the dunes. That is so beautiful, especially the stretches along the sea. And we did a seal tour. Wonderful to see them in their natural habitat. Also here we had a small cozy hotel. Holiday in The Netherlands isn’t that bad.
What a joy to be out in nature
- Seals in their natural habitat.
- We saw lots of them, swimming, playing!
- On the boat, to crowded for my liking.
- You are in our shadow….
Back at home we still had a few days of holiday. We went out for dinner, invited my father for dinner, invited my in laws for cake( it was my birthday the 31st) and had a bbq at our friends. And enjoyed the warm weather. The days we were away we had wonderful weather and on Texel we had even 27 degrees Celcius, 80 F. But on all that joy comes to an end and normal life has started again. Of course it’s super busy straight away, weird is that how fast you seem to forget you even had some time off.
Today I have something very exciting, but I can’t say anything about that yet, haha that’s helpful! But above all, Ihave to get rid of a lot of administration work and update the blog. By the time it’s the weekend again, I hope I’ll be up and running again!
- Beach Babe, lol, above 50 then, let’s name it Beach Lady.
- On the beach enjoying everything.
- Lunch, sandwich with goat cheese.
- Very old village, where time stands still.
- Seabass on the menu.
- Going out for dinner every night, what a joy.
- The dunes of Texel.
- Breakfast at the hotel, luckely no buffet, I hate that.
Have a nice week everyone!
I think it’s absolutely fabulous to explore your own area that way. Especially when the weather is good and you can enjoy Mother Nature.
Can’t wait to hear your surprise,
XOXO

I’m glad to hear you had a wonderful holiday, even if it wasn’t in England! You were certainly very lucky with the weather, especially considering the Summer we’ve had. I can imagine Texel being quite busy as it’s a popular holiday destination. Cycling in the dunes and going on a seal tour sound delightful though! Oh, and you certainly are keeping us in suspense! xxx

Lovely photos of your vacation! And, I second eating out every night is one of the best things about vacations! Love that tulle skirt and can’t wait to see what you do with it.

Good for you for exploring your own country and finding interesting things to do, Nancy. Seal-watching, shopping, cycling and food? I don’t think it gets much better!

We had a fab time, even if it wasn’t abroad!
Drenthe sounds like the perfect place to begin a vacation. Would like to find myself among lush green moors and villages that are standing still in time. We so need a break over here.
Delicious looking food and vistas but the photo of you in the cut-offs is my fave. Followed by the photo in that great blue skirt. You look so happy and rested and wonderful.

Oh thank you Leslie! It was very lovely there. Yesterday we cycled near our village and we both said: wish we were still in Drenthe.
Nancy, this truly sounds like an amazing holiday! I had to laugh at your “rude Dutch” comment as I often say that about my fellow Americans!! Lol! Sometimes it’s nice to discover things in our own neighborhood, isn’t it? Thanks for sharing and welcome back!
