Hello everyone. I am back again with Throwback Tuesday. Back to normal life! I started blogging again last week, after two weeks of vacation, but last Tuesday we of course had The Good Buy/Good -Bye Book! Do you like to participate next month? The theme is Camo! Read in the post how you can join us.
We had a wonderful holiday. Different, but very nice, very relaxed. Of course we missed England terribly, but what can you do about it? I have kept you informed on Instagram Stories.
A vacation in own country
- I wore this dress when I cycled with Denise
- This skirt I bought at Zara
- Also a cycle outfit, joggers and a tee
The holiday started with my birthday on August 31st. Gerben and I went shopping in Den Bosch for a day. Actually I have only been in Zara. But it was quite successful. Shopping doesn’t really feel good, I must say. To many people. But we had a delicious lunch and went to the cathedral. To our surprise, it was beautiful. Nothing can beat the Welsh cathedral, but this one came close. And in the evening we ate sushi in Arnhem. A Great start!
We went to Friesland with friends for a few nights and spend a night at my sister and brother-in-law in Giethoorn. I give you the links to both places to get a impression. And we also barbequed a lot. Just the two of us. And it was not always nice warm, in the evening it cools down quite quickly, but a poncho helped! And a bottle of rose too!
But it’s time to get back to normal life
- Oh yeah, I love rose wine!
- Simple salad
- cauliflower Indonesian style
Anyway, normal life has started again and I had a busy week last week. Monday and Tuesday were full of blogging, reading and answering emails, etc. Wednesday morning I had the 6 minute walk test. That’s a test for the lung transplant list. You then have to walk as much as you can in 6 minutes.
Well I can tell you that after 2 minutes I already think, pfff I already am out of breath, and after 6 minutes I can almost get on a respirator! But the test was good, I walked 420 meters! As for a healthy person, my age weight and length, should walk 580.
On Wednesday afternoon I actually had an appointment in the hospital to have a blood sample taken and an ultrasound of the liver, my disease is actually a liver disease. But it still didn’t feel safe to go to the hospital so I postponed that again. Denise and I went cycling and had lunch. We cycled 53 kilometers (because Denise didn’t know the way, lol). Working out on Thursday, Tuesday and Monday too of course, and in the afternoon to the beautician.
- At the hairdresser
- I told you before,
- you never leave with ,,normal,, hair!
Friday I had a appointment with the hairdresser and the nail stylist, so I was ready for the weekend! Gerben was in a hotel all week for his work and then I have to do a lot, for me, in the evening. Like sweeping the floor, cleaning the cat litter box, watering the hanging baskets. Those tasks are, above my own tasks, a bit to much.
So I was almost exhausted when he got home again. That was not back to normal life again. Let me tell you that, we try to avoid that Gerben stays in a hotel.
Saturday and Sunday we bbq ed again in the evening. That must have been almost the last time of the year. Because this week our weather will change. In any case, we enjoyed a very nice Indian summer. Also cycled a few hours on Sunday and worked out on Saturday. So I have been exercising all week. Is also a bit necessary after such a holiday! It’s really necessary to go back to normal life again!
- View from where Denise and I had lunch
- My happy face, I am happy whenever there is food involved
- My lunch, do you know what this is?
Hope you enjoyed reading the back to normal life post and wishing you a great day!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
It’s so impressive how much you exercise Nancy…it makes me feel very lazy. And I just LOVE your hair styled like that!!

Wow, you definitely been busy Nancy and that’s great, make you feel that life is back to normal again. It’s impressive that you can ride a bike for such a long distance. Love the hair style, very chic.

It was on a e bike I have to say. Thanks Anna!
What a fabulous hair style! My hair always looks the same when I leave the hairdressers and then I tend to restyle it myself when I get in the car. It sounds like you had a wonderful vacation.
So glad you enjoyed your weekend away! Love all these looks and I adore the hair style!

Oh, thank you so much! How ….uh lovely! Lol.
I always love to see the food you prepare! I find that meals in Europe are always healthier than here even if dessert is involved.

Well not all. We do eat healthy, I don’t use any prepared stuff and don’t use salt. I think vegetables are tasty enough of themselves. I do use herbs. And we eat organic meat only if we eat meat at all.
I’m hearing you on shopping not feeling very good. I do feel the same, and only go as early as possible in the morning, if at all. I’ve only been into Mango near my office so far. And the charity shops of course. I’m glad to hear you spent a lovely few days in Friesland and at your sister and brother-in-law’s, even if the weather wasn’t quite as warm as it has been. I’m also glad to hear your walking test went well. I can also understand you didn’t feel like going into the hospital. Cycling 53 kilometers is quite a feat, though! Good idea to make the most of the Indian Summer weather and have barbecues. And I do think I know what you are having on that sandwich :-)) xxx

Haaha, yes you should know what that is! Yes the cycling was a bit to far. It wouldn’t have been if Gerben was at home, so he could cook dinner , but he was in that hotel and I had to do a lot of stuff he normally does at night.
I’m glad you had a nice vacation (except for when Gergen had to be in a hotel). It sounds absolutely lovely. I have not been inside a retail store since March. I have never been one to enjoy crowded spaces (although, I could overlook it for concerts and such), but now it would be really disconcerting.
I admire your dedication to exercise. Since I have found the major triggers (if not the underlying cause) – various foods – of my fibromyalgia, I have begun walking again. It is nice to feel well enough to do it.
I love your pink outfit! Those bright pink shoes are absolutely fabulous! I have to enjoy pink through others’ outfits, because it doesn’t look good on me at all.

Thanks Michelle! I am glad you are able to walk. It is so important to do something! Not only for the body but also for the soul. I don’t like the crowds at concerts either, but the joy of enjoying music is bigger then that!
Your pink outfit looks so cute!

I wore pink trousers yesterday! We’re twins!
Your mini-holiday sounds lovely, and you seem to get an awful lot of exercise – good for you! Your hair is so pretty like that!
I think your sandwich fillings are falafel. That’s how they look here!
Author
Nope! They look like falafel though! They are ,, kroketten,,. A Dutch snack, a roux filled with meat, or cheese or whatever, with a crosty layer. Oh well if we are twins then I borrow your Vivienne Westwood jacket tomorrow okay? Lol!!
I’m glad you were able to get back to normal *and* that you enjoyed your time away. Best of luck with the lung transplant and getting to your appointments. The food looks so good! Enjoy your Rose!

Thanks Kim!
That pleated Zara skirt is so cute! Lots of prayers for that lung transplant! All your food looks soooo good.

Oh come on, you have gorgeous hair Jacqui! You are just a beautiful woman!
What a fun vacation! Great job with all the exercising! I hope you’re able to get the answers and help you need from doctors. Love the pink outfit! I’m visiting today from the Traffic Jam Weekend link up. Have a great weekend!

How lovely to see you here, I appreciate that a lot!
Welcome back! Sounds like you had a great holiday. I have not shopped at Zara before but I know they have cute clothes. I also love how your hair looked and mine is in so much need of a cut! 🙁 Btw, what is that you had for lunch?

Haha, they are ,, kroketten,,. A roux with meat with some crust!
Would love to have your hairdresser work some magic on my hair. Yours looks so lovely.
Glad you are on the transplant list. Not to wish anyone the loss of a loved one, but hope
you are soon able to receive a new lung. We have a family friend who had very good
luck as a lung transplant patient.
Love the pink outfit and all the stripes. Can’t imagine riding a bike in a dress but saw all
the lovely Parisian women doing it when we visited France.
Will start putting together something for Good Buy. I love my camo!!

I am not on the list yet Leslie, I am still to ,,good,,. But I have to check every year to see if I already have too! Thanks love!
Oh my friend, I PRAY FOR YOU AND FOR YOUR HEALTH TO GET BETTER. But man you biked for 53 miles?! I don’t ever think in this lifetime, I can do that. WOW! Excellent!! Bravo!! Glad life is back to a somewhat normalcy for you. Love these striped outfits and especially the beautiful dressy pants look with all the shades of pink. That’s why I want you to join the pink week, with me. =)

Thanks Ada, 53kilometres is a bit less then miles. I think it is about 40 miles.
