I am not at all for cropped tops. although I already wore one here. But I’ve always loved puff sleeves. And so I took for granted the fact that the cropped top is actually just too short for my taste. I love the checked print, the colors and the sleeve! And of course I can add a black camisole underneath.
Can I still dig a cropped top
Well, despite what the title suggests, I’m not going to discuss whether you can wear a cropped top when you’re over 50. Who am I to say what can and what can’t be worn. But I can speak for myself of course. And I still wear what I want and what I feel like. But I have to say that I will only put on this top with high waist trousers or skirt. And I’m not going to wear it when I go out to dinner either. Not such a pretty sight with a full belly and a top that is too short … uh no. I suddenly see yeah but no but from Little Brittain in front of me.
Cropped top with a high waist skirt
I am wearing a camisole under the cropped top because it has a rather deep neckline. And a little belly and breasts seems a bit too much to me .. And at first a camisole underneath seemed too frumpy, but this one with lace actually looks very nice. The scuba skirt is one of my favorite pencil skirts. Scuba, or neoprene, is so ideal to wear. Not only skirts, but dresses too! It does not crease and it falls so smoothly around your body.
I also keep the accessories calm with this cropped top outfit. A beautiful coarse link bracelet in matte gold and some red accents on the nails and lips! I could have worn orange mules, but in my head that looks to much. The top speaks for itself. Sometimes we don’t need much!

I always always love when you wear and style this stunning black pencil skirt with the wrap. Like you I have been wearing cropped pants (this Summer too, despite the extra kilos I gained) with high-waisted bottoms. Love your crop top and how you got creative with it. You look great!
Welcome by and join my linkup, Nancy. Thanks, Ada. =)
P.S. Looks so warm there. I AM JEALOUS LOL

Thanks Ada! Oh it sure was warm here, we had a great August!
I love this look, Nancy! I think a cropped top with high waisted anything looks great on almost everyone! This plaid top is so cute. I love the colors in it. But I hear you about a food baby popping out the bottom of your cropped top. I don’t think anyone would notice, but I would sure feel self conscious. Such a great post, too! You go on and wear whatever the heck you like…including cropped tops. You have the figure to show off, show it, girl!

Food baby? Hahahaha, that ‘s a great one, never heard! Thanks love!
LOL It must be an American term but it describes it perfectly, doesn’t it?! Haha

Yes indeed!
Nancy,
You are so clever to wear a high waisted skirt with a cropped top!
I usually avoid cropped tops for baring my belly at 63 so this is perfect!
Always fabulous my friend!

How cute is your outfit?!?!?! I’m such a plaid fan – so classic.
Author
Yes me too, I love classic style.
That top is really print with the sleeves and print: I wouldn’t have know it was cropped if you hadn’t mentioned it. Love that skirt too!

I’m wary of crop tops too, but you styled yours perfectly—a high-waisted skirt is definitely the way to go, and looks super flattering on you!

I’ve never been a fan of cropped tops myself, as I do feel the need to wear something tucked in. But that’s got nothing whatsoever to do with age, as I didn’t like wearing them when I was younger either. That said, I love your plaid patterned and puff sleeved top and I love how you wore it with that gorgeous high waist skirt. A great look! I think you should wear whatever makes you feel happy and never mind about any agist remarks. There are hordes of young girls out there who’d benefit from not wearing cropped tops :-))) xxx
Author
Haha yes indeed and low waist jeans! Thanks Ann!
I think this looks fabulous Nancy. You don’t even realize it’s cropped and not just tucked into your skirt!!
I’d wear it over a dress too!

Oh gosh, you and your ideas! What a great one as I was thinking: Such a pity that I can’t wear this top more.
You styled the top and outfit perfectly, Nancy. I agree–I don’t want my belly and rolls to show, nor do I especially like lots of cleavage!! Lol! And you are right that everyone can make that decision for themselves and what they like! Have a great weekend.

Hi, Nancy – You really knew how to style a crop top over 50! I love the idea of wearing a camisole underneath which will cover the tummy. I don’t have a crop top but now you are making me feel like it would be okay. If I do, I’ll have to wear it with my high-waist pencil skirt like yours. You look great in it! Thanks for the inspiration, Angie – http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

Thank you very much Angie! I wouldn’t wear it on a non high waist skirt or trousers. That doesn’t feel and look good on me.
You are setting a wonderful example! Wear what you want! And you are rocking it, no doubt!

Oh that is very kind Laura, thank you!

I love how you’ve styled the top! I bought a cropped wrap blouse on eBay that is more cropped than I expected so I will have to wear it over a dress or camisole! I don’t like to show my midriff!

No me neither. A camisole is a good solution!
I love this cropped style of wrap top too, but like you, I have to wear a camisole under or “boobs and belly, ahoy!” This is a great classy outfit, Nancy. I probably would have done orange shoes, but I’m over the top that way, ha ha!
Thank you so much for the link-up!
