Why have I never seen before that wearing color really boost your mood. Not only for yourself but also for someone else. Of course it is true that you go through different phases in your life. You don’t like what you used to like and vice versa. There is nothing wrong with that. However some people seem to have the same style through out their hole life. But if you had told me 5 years ago that I would wear an orange dress, I would have laughed at you. Because color was not for me and certainly not orange! And look at me today.
How I buy pre loved clothing
It is almost impossible to wear a brighter color then this orange! And it’s pre loved. I am increasingly a fan of pre-loved clothing. I buy it online, filter by the brands I want to wear and whether the condition is as good as new. Then it can hardly go wrong. So much fun to do, at least you can also bid a bit, I like that. And you know what quality you get when you search for a brand you already know. And you will know that the sizing is good.
Who of you have never bought something second-hand? Clothes then, I don’t mean furniture or something else! And why not ? I would like to know that, because I too was hesitant about two years ago. Because I found it horrible to wear something that people already wore that I don’t know. But a washing machine of course can take that scare away!
Wearing color does boost your mood
I always thought that was nonsense. Because I always wore black. Does that mean I was always grumpy? Lol, possibly, I will say it myself yes. No, but the effect you have on others when you wear bright colors is lovely! People smile and talk easier to you. You will lift up their mood with your colors! Now isn’t that just fantastic!
I show you two looks with this dress. The one with the wrap blouse is more dressier. The blouse is to tight, but I love the colors. So I am wearing it like a sort of kimono. Just play with your clothes, even if they don’t fit anymore. The red espadrilles are perfect for this look because I love red and orange together. I also have orange mules but that would be to boring. With this dress that is.
The second look is more casual with the sneakers and the fun sailboat blazer. The buttons have anchors on it. Perfect summer jacket. And the bracelet with the shelves just belong with it. It’s so easy to dress down with sneakers. You immediately have a casual look.
Shop the wearing colors look!

I love both of these looks, Nancy! And orange is my favorite warm color. I have bought pre-loved clothing from Poshmark. In fact the two orange pieces I shared in the Good Buy / Good-Bye Book were from Poshmark. So much fun giving a piece of clothing a new home!

And orange looks so good on you! It gives your skin a real sunny glow!
I agree, colour can really boost your mood! 🙂 I’ve always had second hand clothes, haha! My mum and grandma are big fans of opshopping and we used to get a lot of hand me downs from friends. it’s a much more environmentally friendly way to add pieces to your wardrobe, and kinder on your wallet too 😉
Thanks for the link up!
Hope that you are having a nice week 🙂

And far more unique! Thanks Mica, have a great weekend!
Bright and bold colors really do boost my mood. I love this orange dress on you and I always find orange as a challenging color to style, but you nailed it with both of these looks!

Isn’t it! It’s King Louie a brand that I like very much!
These colours are gorgeous on you Nancy. A stunning classic style that can be worn year after year. Have a great weekend xx

Have a great weekend Laurie!
I love the dress on you Nancy, the colour is bright but not garish and you look great in both versions. I can see where you are coming from re second hand clothes but I have never ever bought anything from second hand shops for various reasons.
Author
I never did either but it is such fun to do Anna!
Lovely dress Nancy, I can see why it spreads happiness!

Thank you very much Gail!
Both outfits are fabulous. I just love the Talbots jacket. Since I moved to Bulgaria I mostly only shop 2nd hand and I love it. Such better quality than a lot of new clothes. I also love that you find unique pieces. Once you have washed it and worn it it feels like yours. Other people try on new clothes, some even wear them before returning them, so for me it is not an issue. Obviously they must still be in good condition and not show wear and tear.

Exactly. When I was working in a clothing shop, we wore the clothes of the shop all day. So if you bought it it was already worn!
That dress is great – what a colour! Love it. Also very much like the blazer. I’d love one like that myself! So glad you like buying pre-loved. It’s the way to go. Have a lovely weekend x
Author
Yes I really love that now! Can’t wait to shop in the UK pre loved shops because they are far more better then over here!
I completely agree – color does boost your mood! This orange is fab on you! Thanks for the link up and have a terrific weekend!

Love that coral dress! I thought it was a skirt at first. You really styled it perfectly both ways!
The blue blazer is super cute!
What a fabulous dress, Nancy! You know I love preloved clothing! And this orange looks so amazing on you. I need more orange things now especially after The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book this month! And wearing bright colors really does boost your mood! I don’t think I realized how much it works until recently. I love both ways you have styled this adorable dress, my friend. Have a great weekend!

Yes, look at you in orange – and looking fabulous too. It’s a happy colour. The different styles are all very beautiful!

I agree that colors can make you feel better! This orange dress is so pretty and outstanding. I really like it with the black print kimono/blouse, so pretty! Yes, I’m a fan of buying 2nd hand clothing–you get more choices if something isn’t in style or season at the stores.
I completely agree with you. In the winter I often wear darker shades and the past few years I’ve been trying to add more color because when it’s cold and dark, I need to remind myself that I am still vibrant and fun! Love orange on you! Orange and red ,( in your kimono) just complement each other.
Of course the blazer look is bang on for the office.

I completely agree that color boosts the mood. I have been loving bright colors lately especially yellow and orange. I love the second look: that blazer is so fun and the white sneakers look great with that dress.

I loved that look better also. yellow and orange sound very good together!
Orange is a great color. There are many shades of it, that there is something for everyone. This color looks particularly good with your hair color. The cropped kimono top tied over it looks really cute and I love that little jacket with the sailboat pattern in it.
Because I’ve been in the vintage clothing biz for over 15 years pretty most of my wardrobe consists of pre-loved, whether 80 years old or a couple months old. Recycling/reusing is a good thing!

It’s a well known fact that wearing colour can boost your (and others’) mood, and especially in these trying times, I need my daily colour fix in order to survive! Well done on choosing to wear an orange dress, Nancy. The colour is absolutely gorgeous on you. I’m loving both of these looks, but my favourite by far is the one with the gorgeous sailing boat print blazer! Blue and orange is one of my favourite colour combinations! xxx

I never knew those colors would look that good together! well they are opposites of the color wheel, so could have known it. But I never liked orange that much! Until now!
I worked in a consignment shop all through college; it was so hard to come home with a full paycheck!!

Nancy, you look fabulous in orange!! It really does life your mood to wear color, doesn’t it? I am still hesitant about pre-worn clothes. I don’t know where to get the good stuff so it makes it even harder. It’s good that you have figured that out! Have a nice weekend,

I love buying secondhand—it’s a way to find more unique pieces, and it’s generally way more affordable (and better for the environment too)!

That is so true. Do you often show your pre loved items Cheryl?
I love your orange dress , so good with either jacket . The sail boat one is so cute. Orange is such a sunny colour and does brighten your day. I have a fluffy orange jumper and always get comments when I wear it. I enjoy some pre-loved clothing but am rather fussy as to what I buy. I have never bought any online but do like your buying tips.
Many thanks for hosting Nancy, enjoy your week.

Thanks Jill. We don’t have many good pre loved stores here in the area that’s why I buy on line. And I know the brands very well, makes it much easier!
I love how you say it that way Nancy…that you make others happy and you seem more approachable in color like this. And seriously it makes you glow!!

I love this orange on you, Nancy! It’s the same colour as my orange jumpsuit – it’s such a cheerful colour. I wear colour all the time to boost my mood, or to distract people from seeing that I’m feeling sick or sad. And of course, nearly everything I own is second-hand, always1
Thank you so much for the link-up!

You wear colour beautifully and second hand is the way to go to increase sustainability as well as to gain pieces that not everyone is wearing.
Thank you for sharing, Nancy!!

Yes, to be honest, the unique feel of second hand comes before the sustainability for me. But That is a important fact too!
