And today I show you another item of the combat trend: my combat skirt! Last week I already showed the combat trousers. What a wonderful cool trend. I also love this shade of green a lot. And I said it before, I used to hate side pockets. Thought it was so decent. Nothing more changeable then a woman right!
Spring trend: combat!
It’s slowly starting to creep towards spring, isn’t it? Are you feeling it? I do, as soon as spring is in sight I want everything outside to be spick and span again. That means a lot of work for Gerben because we have a huge garden. And the lounge set must then be brought out again. All lights and candles need to be placed. The cushions needs to be washed Etc. etc. I always want to get all kinds of frills for the garden, mainly lights and candles. So cozy. And we always sit outside, weather permitting. We also love eating outside, so much more relaxed. Can’t wait!
How I wear a combat skirt
I saw this skirt in a ad of Shein. Not the biggest fan of that site, although they have lovely light weight earrings and good belts. But sometimes your eye falls on a item and you just know it will be a good one. I had that with this skirt. I just knew it was made for me. The lenght, the colour, the style, I love it all. And it din’t fail. The fabric is a sort of denim, not even 1% of polyester in it, yeah. And it fits perfectly. If I have to name one thing that I would like to see different, it’s the zippers. I would like to have them in gold. But hey, whiner who pays attention to that.
There are so many options of how to wear this skirt. I will wear it with a white tee and white sneakers. But also with something burgundy and red. Love that combination. But here I am wearing it with a black lace top and a pre loved jacket that has gold threads in it. And my beloved biker boots that I have for so long. But now they fall apart a bit. Such a pitty. What are your thoughts about the combat trend?
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

I love this Shein find! The zippers are such a cool detail on it. The added tweed jacket is a wonderful contrast! I would love visit your outdoor space. It’s sounds wonderful!

Oh thanks Kathrine! It is, we live in the middle of a village, but we have a huge garden and it’s totally surrounded by trees. So we hear and see nobody. And we have a lot of bees and butterflies and hedgehogs etc.
I love the khaki color with a strong contrast so the black looks great. I absolutely share your other choices to team with khaki too, white is good, as are red and burgundy – also a strong pink if it’s something you favor. The tweed jacket and the more casual is genius pairing.

I am wearing the cargo trousers with red and burgundy on IG today!
This is a fabulous look, Nancy! Initially, I didn’t like the combat look because it reminded me of war, but now I’m starting to see it for what it is, just another style. Ha! I’m waiting for an order from Shein. Starting to learn which of their products are likely to be nice vs those that aren’t.

Some things are pretty good aren’t they! I had the same association at first!
I don’t think I’ve seen a cargo skirt before! I love this take on the trend and think it’s so perfect for you. And the tweed is so pretty paired with it!

I am excited about spring too and we love to eat outside. Our lights on our porches are one of my favorite things in the early evening. I do like the combat trend and still wear my combat boots regularly!

Although I’m not really a fan of combat, I must admit that I love that skirt. I might even wear a skirt like that myself, as it’s exactly the right shape and length for me!
As for Spring, I’m hoping it arrives soon, but today was absolutely horrendous, with rain, sleet, hail and gusts of icy wind. Brr! xxx

Yes it is horrible, and today it’s warmer but so stormy! Ah well, spring will come soon!

We’ve seen this trending for sure in the denimsphere. Actually wide wide leg jeans are a hot item on our site that people seem to like looking through so these would fit into that motif as well.

Thanks.
Love your styling of this combat style skirt with the more feminine jacket! I will have to stick my toe into this trend, and a midi skirt like yours would be a great way to start. Plus, any garment with pockets gets extra points from me! Your spring and summer outdoor space sounds like a wonderful oasis. We have a large screened porch that needs attention when the weather gets warmer and we gravitate out there more often. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for the link up!

Thank you very much Di!A porch sounds so cool!

Haha, please do try haring!
I really like the tough edge of that skirt, Nancy – too bad it’s Shein (I see a lot of their clothes in the thrift stores – and they are almost always CRAP fabric). love your styling. YES to combat boots – I’ve been wearing them long before and will wear them long after they are trendy!

Me too! Wore Dr.Martens when I was 16!
A very belated thank you for the feature, Nancy! I see we both had on our tweed jackets last week 😉 And I am with you on the cargo skirt revival—I don’t think cargo pants are for me, but yes to skirts!

My pleasure Cheryl! And thank you very much!
I totally get why you wanted that skirt, Nancy. It’s fabulous! I’ve only bought a few things from Shein, the first dress was divine, perfect fit and everything but the second order wasn’t so good. I didn’t know about the lightweight earrings though. I must check them out because I hate wearing heavy earrings!

I really love the structure on top with the tweed jacket and then the fuller skirt on the bottom. The colors all look great together too!
