Last week was a week with hospital visits. I had to go there three times to have an allergy test for the rash on my face. And now I have to search for hypoallergenic facial care. I know it’s Wednesday, but yesterday it was time for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book.
The week was also filled with working out and cleaning. Because I had to get out three times, I spread the other things over the week. On Friday I got the results of the test. In any case, I am not allergic to antibiotics, which is of course reassuring. So I can start with that again.
On the hunt for hypoallergenic facial care
- Wearing a mask of course in the hospital.
- Waiting, they forgot about me, story of my life.
- All the tests!
But I am allergic to three substances that are in creams and shampoos. Quite annoying because I am allergic to the face cream that I use. And I thought it was a very good one. So now it will be a long search for which facial care I can use. Yes I know, there are worse things, but I think this is quite a thing as I am always concerned with what is best for my skin.
And it’s not easy to find the right products. It will be a long road and a weird one as dermatologists say you don’t need eye cream and anti aging stuff. Well, I am used to using them so it will take a while before that hit s my brain I think.
I immediately started Googling on Friday. But after a few days I couldn’t see the trees in the forest anymore. (Dutch expression means that there is so much to search!) Because then you also have cross contamination allergies. Gosh what a miserable thing. I’m going to email the dermatologist to see if she can’t help me any further wit what is good hypoallergenic facial care. And in the meantime I don’t have any cream on my face! It feels horrible.
What further went on in my life
- Friday evening snacks, gyoza.
- I won these hand masks!
- Our two darling bookends.
Saturday we put up the Christmas tree! So cosy! And the Christmas village with lights and music. I enjoy it. On Saturday evening friends came to visit. We can sit apart from each other, there is plenty of room and for snacks I put it in different cups and bowls for us and them. The infections are already very high here and measures will probably be taken again. Should have done that much earlier. Not a week and a half before Christmas!
On Sunday we made the Christmas cards with the cats. They didn’t like it at all. Also made some outfit photos and arranged things in our house. In the evening we had diner on time and did some Christmas groceries shopping online. And Max won the Formula 1! If someone has good tips on hypoallergenic facial care, please share!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
I’m so glad the source of the allergic reaction was figured out. But yeah, what a chore in trying to find replacements. Ugh! I don’t put anything on my face because most things make my eyes burn, but I haven’t had any testing to determine the culprit. (Any make up you see on my face is due to an app.) I hope you find a replacement soon!

Not even cream Michelle? I know that dermatologists are a fan of not wearing cream.
So happy you finally know what was causing the rash flare up on your face but totally understand why it’s such a pain to find replacements. Hopefully the dermatologist can help with some suggestions.

No she couldn’t! So rude! I asked two questions online and at the second she closed the account! What the hell…
It’s very hard to find hypoallergenic face creams and makeup nowadays, I am always searching on behalf of my mum who has skin problems. She has tried lots but seems to find Clinique ok, except for eye makeup. Hope you find some good stuff soon.

I could take a look at Clinique! I used that before. Thanks Gail.
It’s good you got an answer but I feel for you trying to find new creams. Glad you got your tree put up, once our decorating is done I just love sitting by the tree!

Yes I love it too! It’s so cozy!
Glad at least they figured out what you were allergic too. Hopefully you can find something that works for you. Went for a mammogram and took my son to the dermatologist and monthly blood test but that is it till next month. Always wearing going places like that but thankfully there were not busy so less people around.

That is good. I thought it was rather busy in the hospital. I assume your mammogram was okay?
So sorry about all those tests! Hope you find something that works for your for skincare. So glad you have your tree up and are seeing friends!

Yes that was fun and nice to do. Thanks!
Wow, I can’t imagine not wearing any cream on your face Nancy. But I guess at least you know what to look for. And there are many options to say the least!!

Far to many Jodie, it’s long search I guess!
How bothersome to be allergic to your face cream! I’d go crazy if couldn’t use any cream at all on my face, whatever dermatologists say! I do hope you find what you are looking for. Perhaps they can help you at a pharmacy? We’ve yet to put up the Christmas tree. We’ll do it tomorrow, although I’m not really in a festive mood (yet).
Of course, I’ve been hearing about your lockdown and non-essential shops Etc. closing. You are absolutely right, they should have done that a lot earlier. And I really cannot believe all those protesters 🙁 xxx

How disrespectful right! Oh I really find that awful. Just like a double lung transplanted person I know on Facebook. Hugging with friends in the name of freedom! I removed her immediately! How stupid can you be!
I hope you’ll find a cream you’re not allergic too. It must be hard not knowing what exactly triggers the allergy. You know two days ago my face has started to swell up. It is always the worse in the morning and by the end of the day the swelling slowly disappears. I think I’m allergic to the new cream that I started using Nivea with Q10 so I’ll stop using it. I normally use just regular Nivea face cream and I never had issues with it…but I must be allergic to this new face cream.

Oh boy, check the ingredients. Perhaps you can find out what ingredient is in the Q10 and not in the regular one.
I’m so glad you figured out the cause for the rashes. I hope you find some facial care that works for you.

I hope so too! Thank you very much!
I hardly use anything on my face, just Oil of Olay with SPF 15 every day for the past 35 years. No night lotion or eye creams either. Olive oil is really nice if you need a moisture boost – don’t use too much!
What? We don’t get a picture of your tree or village! I want to see! I love seeing your dear cats.
We have the expression in English, “Can’t see the forest for the trees” so it must have come from Dutch.
I hope you are doing well, Nancy! Hugs to you.

Well, we did make Christmas photos for the cards, but I don’t think they are in before Christmas!
Thank you for sharing the life update! Have a good day!

Thanks, have a good week!
I am glad that you found out exactly what allergens are effecting you. I hope you are able to find some skin care products that work without irritating you. Ralphie has suffered from skin and food allergies his whole life and it really is frustrating trying to figure out the right products and such. I hope you and Gerben enjoy your Christmas, my friend. Thanks for linking with me.

I think food allergy is even more difficult of course. It’s a long road to find out what one is allergic for.
Sounds hard Nancy, hope it went well. Interesting to learn your results. Thank you for joining #Chicandstylish
