You know I love contrasts, cargo trousers and a ballet cardigan, cool and cute. I couldn’t restrain myself in the months of January and February in terms of buying behavior. I didn’t go wild, but I did buy a few items. And yes, single items, but with this one I already knew how I would like to wear it. I had already bought these cargo trousers when I came up for the theme for The Good Buy/Good-Buy Book for March. I hope you would like to join us! And then I also bought a skirt in the same cargo trend style. I’ll show you that one soon too.
Cargo or combat trousers, and a cute ballet cardigan?
We are talking about the combat trend here. And I think my American friends call it more the cargo trend. So I will name these trousers the cargo trousers and my new skirt the combat skirt. Something for all right. And I’ll tell you that I used to totally detest pockets in places where they don’t serve any purpose, fashion wise.
When I ordered the cargo trousers I fell for the loops at the ankle and the colour. And I hadn’t even seen the pockets. And I really had to make a lot of effort to get these trousers, because size m was too small. So send it back and ordered a size L. Well, of course it was sold out! Every day I was looking at the Zara site a few times to see if another size L had arrived. And after a week or so it was! Oh how lucky a person can be…
Something cool and something feminine adding the ballet cardigan
I am wearing these cargo trousers with a ballet cardigan. And a back sheer top underneath. Love the contrast of the cool trousers and the feminine top and cardigan. Under these cargo trousers I am wearing suède ankle boots with a tiny heel. I searched a long time for these. I wanted Isabel Marant kind a ankle boots, and these are the perfect ones. They also support the contrast effect.
Also wearing some golden accessories. For a more masculine look I would like to wear my combat boots, but still with a feminine top. A chunky jumper would be to masculine for me, but I think it would look fabulous on some very feminine women. These combat trousers wear fabulously, loos fot, high waisted, and such a lovely fabric. I forgot to look and I always cut the label out immediately. But you know, a bit of a parachute kind a fabric. Do I make any sense…..
By the way, Tina is also wearing something ballet!
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

And also on dresses. At least for me as the waist is at the perfect place for me. Thanks Kathrine.
I have always loved a ballet cardiagn – but I have never owned one! How is that??? Anyway, pairing it with the cargo pants is brilliant, love the feminine sweater with the more masculine feel of the cargos! So good!

This outfit is super cute! I love that you’ve got both the masculine and feminine vibe going here. Whew! So lucky the size L made it back in. I don’t have any cargo pants. My husband loves his. Manages to use most of the pockets too. Now you’re making me think I should try them – but I doubt I can make the Good-Buy book deadline.

Great outfit on you, Nancy! The masculine/feminine contrast of the pieces is perfect and I love all the fun details on the cargo pants. I will have to look for a pair that work for me-I want all those pockets! Thanks for sharing and have good weekend

Thank you very much Di, have a great start of the week!
The fitted top half with looser bottom half silhouette looks great and you wear it so well! The juxtaposition of styles is dynamic but the darker, muted colors create visual harmony. A really great look! (Now unlike with blazer + white sneakers, this is not one that I will be rushing to style because neither of these pieces work well for me, but I love seeing it on you!)

That is very kind of you Sally! Thank you very much!
Now those are COOL cargo pants, Nancy. That’s the way to take something I think of as basic and making it so fun.

Personally, I am not really a fan of cargo trousers – I’m sure this won’t surprise you – but I definitely love how you styled yours here. The juxtaposition of the trousers with the ballet top is fantastic. Loving the colours too! xxx

I can’t even remember ever seeing you wearing trousers! Thanks Ann!
What a fabulous look! I don’t own any cargo pants except for my hiking pants (which I already feel like I showed during the exercise/ activity post). But I’ll have lots of fun peeking in to see everyone else’s looks!

Thanks Joanne! But still a pitty you will not join us!
My friend was wearing a similar pair of satin-y cargo pants last night and I love how they look—they seem so much more feminine and cool. I might have to try a pair for myself 😉

I love these trousers! The balance is perfect with the fitted top and fabulous ankle boots. Zara sizing is so random – I have sizes small, medium and large, it makes no sense! I hope you have a great weekend!

I really like the berry color of that cardigan and how it is wrapped to accentuate your waist. Those cargo pants are so cute with it and love the cuffed hem on them.

Love the ballet sweater – I have a similar one in black by Wollford. I’m not a huge fan of cargo pants, but I do like this look on you, Nancy. I agree on the contrasts of masculine/feminine when wearing them. I think you could do a chunky sweater if you did a more femme shoe.
Thank you so much for the link party!
