The Pantone color of the year 2023 is magenta. So let’s start the first post of the year with that! First of all I want to wish you all a very beautiful, happy and healthy 2023. And I want to thank you for following, reading, and supporting my blog. I appreciate you more than you know. I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s Eve. We had a great one! Celebrating with friends, watching the gorgeous fireworks and just enjoying the moment. (and eating and drinking way to much…..)Back to Viva Magenta.
How I wear magenta
Magenta is a mix between red pink and purple. Not necessarily a color that drives me wild. But for a basic sweater like this, such a strong color is perfect. At least for me. If this color looks good on you, I think it would be amazing to wear a dress in that color, for example. Then you make a statement! I think this color fits perfectly with green. Blue would also work very well for me, I think that’s a bit more classic combination then green. I had already shown this outfit on the last episode of The Good Buy/Good-Buy Book. The theme was hot pink. But magenta is clearly not a hot pink. It really has more red and purple in it.
I recently told you that I often wear a outfit the same way. The same goes for this skirt. I usually wear it with this blazer! The blazer is very dark green and fits perfectly with the beautiful sage green skirt. I wear a lovely dragonfly brooche on the blazer and few other accessories. Yes, eight pairs of earrings, but small ones, lol. Leather black classic boots and a small black belt.
Magenta and green
Does the color of the year 2023 mean anything to you? How do you use it when you buy something new? I don’t think most of you do. You all have your own style. That’s why I find a color of a year a bit strange. So what does it actually say? Nothing for me. I just like this color and magenta, the color of 2023, seemed like a nice start! That’s all there is to it.
It’s boring, isn’t it, that all the holidays are over again. I always have to get used to it. Because now you also get a few super boring months. Maybe we could go to England again in February, that would be great. But other then that, these months mean nothing else to me then count down to spring! Let’s hope it comes soon.
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

Hi Nancy and thank you so much for another amazing year of link-up hospitality and I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year. Thank you also for featuring my post as your fave of last week!
I actually thought your blazer and skirt were blue so just shows how we each see colors differently. Anyway, a wonderfully contrasting outfit. In the same way the color of the year Viva Magenta will be interpreted in many different ways across the world of fashion and even interiors.

Thank you for your kind words Pamela and totally my pleasure!
I really like the way you wear magenta! Your dragonfly brooch reminds me of one I used to have – maybe I still do actually, I need to look. I always forget to add those to my outfits and they make such a nice addition.
I hope you get to go to England in February, I know how much you love it!
Happy New Year my friend!

I also keep forgetting to add a brooche. But I am starting to learn, when I am ready with putting my clothes on, to add one more thing! Perhaps that helps!
Magenta is such a nice contrast against the green skirt and blazer. It really pops! This is such a beautiful look! Have a wonderful weekend and cheers to 2023!

I’m a huge of magenta so I’m happy to see that it’ll be in the shops this year. It’s one of those colours that really suits me YAY! I think it looks fab on you too, Nancy. I love how you styled it with the pleated skirt (I have one very similar to that).
Happy New Year, my friend!
Big hugs

What a beautiful outfit. I had no idea magenta was Pantone’s color of the year.

Thank you Laurie!
Love this outfit on you Nancy, with the pop of Magenta against the unusual shades of green! I am a big fan of pink, red, and purple, so I am happy to see Viva Magenta as the color of the year. It does seem like a bit of a jolt, and an odd choice, though, coming on the heels of the calming, subdued Very Peri of last year! Hope you have a good weekend and thanks for the link up!

I don’t understand colours of the year anyway, lol. But It is a very cheerful colour!
I LOVE this look so much! Magenta is my favorite color. I just love anything that is bright pink. I also feel like the winter months can be boring. I guess we have to work harder at making them more fun. I also finally added my blog to the link up, no idea what took me so long to do that! Anyway, thank you so much again for hosting and I hope that you have a fantastic weekend! XO

ah, that’s fantastic Caroline! Thank you very much!
Magenta provides such a gorgeous pop of colour, doesn’t it? I love it and if it’s the Pantone colour of the year, it means we’ll get to see more of it. I actually drooled over a magenta knit dress in a high street shop, but thought it was way too expensive. Of course, now that the sales are no it is sold out 🙁
Anyway, it looks absolutely fabulous with green and It hink your outfit is stunning! And how gorgeous is that dragonfly brooch? xxx

The brooche is from England of course. Perhaps you can check online for the dress, if something is sold out, it often comes back online.
That is a lovely outfit! I tend to wear magenta mainly with black but that’s because I tend to pair most every color with black.. or denim. I’ve often wondered the point of the color of the year too… maybe it’s more for the designers? Though i can’t say I’ve noticed a huge abundance of the color of the year around when I’m in stores either.

I think the shops now have the transition collections, which are often very boring.
how pretty! this skirt sure is something! absolutely adorable! The color is fantastic for you

Thank you very much.

Thanks Jodie, that brooche is very dear to me.
I often call this color fuschia. I do like it as a top. While I have been trying to come up with different combinations, I do like certain combo and I will repeat them. Sometimes you can’t beat a great combo.

I adore this outfit, Nancy! Beautiful! I think the color of the year is important to me in that makes clothes in that color easier to find mFor example, last year was periwinkle. I love periwinkle! But it’s typically impossible to find. But I did manage to pick up a few pieces. I love magenta too, so I look forward to finding some pieces this year.

I love this outfit, the colour combination is beautiful! I know what you mean about this time of year, it’s very hard to find motivation. At least by the end of the month we notice the evenings getting lighter!

Yes indeed! And the mornings earlier lighter! Can’t wait for that!
This still reads a bit too hot pink to be called magenta to me, but it’s lovely nonetheless, Nancy! I was surprised to read that the blazer and skirt are green, as they both look grey here.
I never pay that much attention to the Colour of the Year – I think it’s for people who need encouragement to wear colour!
Author
Colours can very different in real right? I guess so about the colour of the year. I think the colour of all years is black! Lol.
Way to style the color of the year, Nancy! And wishing you a healthy and happy 2023. xo

Thank you very much Sabina.
I think you look lovely in magenta. But, I agree with you. I’m not going to buy a color just because it’s the Pantone color of the year. I buy it if it looks good on me, and I don’t have it in anything similar. Thanks for the link party! I hope you’ll come visit on the 10th!

I have a sweater in my closet that is magenta and it is a nice boost of color! I wear it a lot in January/February with the upcoming V-Day holiday! Ha! I love it with that blazer and pleated skirt… and, ohhh I love all the lush green behind you!! I am tired of Mr. Winter here!

Magenta looks so great on you! I love this interesting color combination, too. Of course, if you are wearing any shade of green, I am going to love it! I have a magenta and black outfit that I will be sharing tomorrow. I am loving bright colors right now to cheer up this dreary gray season!
