I wanted to talk to you about linkup parties! Because I happened to see this week that I’ve already hosted the Fancy Friday linkup party 202 times! Since 2018. And I started blogging in 2015. Gosh, I’ve been blogging for almost 8 years. And still not world famous, lol. But about the linkup party. I started it because I just like organizing and arranging things. I am a rule aunt (Or freak) We say it like that in Dutch, but I think it translates strangely. But since corona, I think, the popularity of blogging has decreased and linkup parties are not as much visited as before.
*I wrote this post a week ago. Since then my father passed away last Wednesday. After 4 months of fighting with all things wrong in his body. I miss you already dad.
Where are all the linkup parties?
I’m afraid that Tiktok and Instagram have kind of taken over blogging. Not with me, by the way. Although at a certain point I paid less attention to blogging because my followers on Instagram increased so nicely. Well, I am not only a control freak but also a numbers fanatic. But I don’t do much on Instagram anymore. Just don’t like Reels, not to look at and not to create. I just stay with static photos and a occasional reel. What happened with lives ay IG? Loved those!
I love blogging! And I love to host my linkup party. I named it the Fancy Friday linkup party. You know, Fancy….Nancy…..hum. I thought it was funny (you had to be there I guess….) I’m just sitting here laughing on my own. Anyway. I would really like it if Fancy Friday was visited a little bit better again. At one point I had over 100 entries. Now there are about 60 every week. And I’m very happy about that, but I would also like it if there were some new faces. I also see bloggers commenting but they don’t link anything. It’s a pity. It is a very nice way to put your blog or account in the spotlight. (like Caroline finally did!)
What is a linkup party then?
Well most of you know what it is, do I really need to explain? I think not, but if you have questions about it, you can always ask. Did you know that you can also linkup with your Facebook , Twitter or IG account? Whatever you like. And if you see a text or photo of another blogger that looks interesting, then pay her or him a visit. And please do leave a comment when you linkup, it’s a act of kindness isn’t it.
But why don’t we, bloggers that host a linkup party, promote them a bit better! Let a linkup party matter! I have a page on my blog where all the links are to linkup parties I used to visit. But it is really dated and is in need of some tlc. So if you host a linkup party and your link is not there, or perhaps on a wrong day, please let me know and I will refresh it!
My outfit of today matches the new colours of my blog doesn’t it! Just a everage outfit, trousers and sweater, nothing special. New trousers though.
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.
My favourite of last week is: Caroline of The Petite Fashionista
And now it’s time to start the Fancy Friday linkup party!
Every Friday you can show yourself and meet other bloggers. Even if you’re not a blogger you can join! You can also grab a button to support my linkup party if you like. I would appreciate it very much! Copy and paste the code under my button.
This is how it works:
Follow your host on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest
Link up your blog below.
Share the love by visiting other blogs in the linkup party.
Share a link to Nancy’s Fashion Style on your post or give a little shout out on social media.
By joining the Fancy Friday party, you agree to receive a weekly reminder email for the linkup party.
Oh yes Nancy I know this problem from my Tinaspinkfriday Linkup, hosted years ago. I think it’s even worse with German-language blogs. There are hardly any linkups and participants.
Nancy I love you in this colourful striped jumper with this amazing blazer.💕 Have a nice weekend! <3

That purple blazer is beautiful on you! I really like those stripes with it, and I’m always grateful for your link up 🙂
So sorry to hear about your Dad passing though, what a terrific loss.

Thanks Mica.

Nancy, I appreciate you hosting the link up parties, and enjoy your blog posts very much! Love this outfit on you, the jacket is a beautiful color, and the multi striped sweater is so cheerful in winter. Very sorry to hear about your dad. Sending love and condolences to you and your family at this difficult time.

Thank you very much Di, I appreciate your kind words.
First off, I am so very sorry about your dad’s passing. Such a huge loss. Hugs from afar, my friend.
As for IG, I’ve deactivated my account for the reasons you mentioned, plus some others. I just didn’t enjoy making reels, nor do I enjoy watching reels (unless there’s a cute animal in it). Plus, it seems like sponsored posts dominated my feed. I enjoy your link-up, Nancy. And I thank you for doing it!

Thank you very much Michelle! Instagram is not any fun anymore right?
I am continually grateful to you for your wonderful linkup parties – long may they continue!
My sincere sympathy on the loss of your Dad. Such a privilege to have parents into our middle years but that doesn’t make it any easier to bear. Hugs to you Nancy.

Oh, Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about your father. I am sending you love and a hug. Thank you so much for the feature, it means a lot to me. I am also happy that I finally added my blog to your linkup and I LOVE that outfit!
Author
Thank you very much Caroline.
I am also glad that you finally did!
I’m so sorry to hear about your dad, Nancy. That is really rough.
I wish there were more link-up parties and more participants. Way before I started blogging, that’s how I found so many of the blogs I read. I am still always on the look-out for new-to-me blogs so link-ups still feel very relevant to me as a reader. As a blogger, joining link-ups is a way for me to introduce myself, and I have enjoyed getting to know other bloggers this way as well as readers.
With Instagram, I just…ugh. I’ve never loved it and I feel like it’s gotten worse over time with Buy This Now & Be Cool sponsored posts galore that Michelle mentioned. Sure, I do miss out on some people who are on Instagram but don’t have blogs, but I just don’t have the time, energy, or will to spend trying to find the diamonds in the rough.
Your outfit may be simple but the beautiful stripes and colorful blazer create a terrific look! Nothing wrong with simple.

I have the same feeling as you Sally. In the beginning of blogging I searched for bloggers I liked through linkups! Thank you very much for your kind words.
Nancy you look fabulous as always and I LOVE your purple blazer that color does not look good on me, but I love it on you!

First of all, I am sorry about your dad! Maybe you could write a post in honor of him and tell us a little about him.
I do enjoy your link up party: I always enjoy reading what you write, catching up on some blog all in one place and now that I only link up to two link ups a da, you are of the my 2 on Friday. I am enjoying your purple blazer with the striped sweater. I need to wear mine again!

Haha, yes we do! Thanks Cheryl!
I hate to join in for fashion link ups because most of my posts – WHEN I can find a moment to write them – are not about fashion. But maybe that is a silly rule in my head. So I am going to link up a post that isn’t fashion related. Hope that is okay!!
I like the bright stripes with the soft gray. I have a striped cardigan that looks very much like your sweater. Going to try it with my gray jeans. Have only worn it with blue denim. Thanks for the suggestion!!
Wishing you a healthy, happy new year.

Thank you very much Leslie! And you don’t have to be a fashion blogger at all!
Nancy, you have my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your dad. I wish I knew what to say to help you at this time. My dad passed almost 50 years ago, and I still miss him. He never knew me as an adult…can you imagine?
As for link parties, mine are not well-attended (thank you for always linking), but I’m so small and no one knows me! I really like them because I can find new blogs with interests similar to mine.
Instagram seems to be a necessary evil. I try to post a few times a week, have done a couple of (really bad) lives, and a few reels. I suppose if I invested time and money, it would be better. But, I like bogs…I want to read something. And, your blog is always a very good read!
You outfit is gloriously colorful, and you look fabulous in it! I love everything about it.
Thanks for the link party. And, I’m sending you hugs across the pond!

Your kind words help Marsha! I think we will always miss them no matter how long ago.
It’s not the big blogs that are interesting or the smaller ones not Marsha! You have a story to tell and you are a real woman! That’s what counts!
I have recieved the hugs! Thanks , they are warming me!
I love this jacket- the colour is gorgeous. YOu look lovely!

Thank you very much Lucy!
I’m guilty of not joining in on link parties anymore. I used to do it in the mornings, and now I’ve changed my routine.
But I always love visiting you, but I didn’t get your email this week. Ugh.
I love the bright colored jacket with this Nancy,

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad Nancy, sending lots of love.
Despite the growth of Instagram and TikTok I still intend to keep blogging. I don’t trust those platforms – I’ve seen so many people get hacked or have their account banned for no reason. At least we are in control of our websites.
I love your purple jacket and grey trousers. Those trainers look really cool with them, and very comfy too.

Thanks Emma! They are!
I’m so glad you featured Caroline! I love her! She is an amazing and stylish person. I’m sad about link up parties too. I liked the old school way of meeting bloggers. I feel like you get to know them better through their blogs!
Author
Indeed! And Caroline did the opposite of many bloggers, she always commented and never linkedup! Thought that was a pitty!
Hi Nancy
I am sorry to hear about your dad. Condolences.
I know what you mean about linkup parties, as I host but wonder how long I will. I have been hosting since 2015 I think. They aren’t the same as they used to be and many just link drop and dont comment on other bloggers.
Love the purple blazer with your colorful sweater

Yes that is true. It used to be much more fun. Thanks Jess, also for the condolences.
Nancy, I’ve been sending lots of Reiki your way. Please let me know if you want/need to talk. We can get on Zoom whenever.
I love this cute cozy outfit on you. The purple coat is gorgeous! I haven’t had the chance to join any link up parties over the past 3 weeks. I love hosting and visiting parties, but life just keeps overwhelming me. I keep hoping to get back on track! Like you, I prefer my blog over any social media platforms. And I would rather visit blogs than scroll social media. Now I just need to find time to visit my favorite blogs!

Thanks love, I will mail you for a Zoom, next week?
I’ve always been so impressed with your link-up parties, Nancy! You always seem to have so many entries, giving me plenty of interesting things to read. Sadly, my link-up party still hasn’t increased in numbers. In fact, last week, I think I had less than ten people join, and I am on my 90th link-up, I think!! But I shall keep trying lol!
I love the simplicity of your outfit, by the way.
Oh, I almost forgot, I am so very sorry for your loss, Nancy. I cannot even imagine how awful it must be to lose your dear dad.
Huge hugs to you and your family

About the linkup, we need to continue to get the linkups back on track again. Perhaps work together with other bloggers that host one!
