Finally to the Hospital-Throwback Tuesday #60

black trousers and top and tan sandals

You might think what is that for title. Finally went to the hospital! As if I was itching with impatience to go there again. Not at all, of course, but some things just have to happen. I will tell you later in the post.

The past week started with a workout on Monday of course. I am always quite busy on Mondays. A lot of blog work, the laundry, Eve came, our help in the household and in the evening we went to visit friends in our village. Tuesday I went to the gym and Wednesday Denise and I cycled. The weather was pretty good last week. Very dry, but cloudy. That’s a shame, I love clear blue summer skies so much. I got very tired Tuesday after working out and did not feel well all week. Gigantic tired and so much pain in my body. The highlight was Sunday, when I was sick all day long!

Finally went to the hospital

Thursday and Friday I had to go to the hospital for examinations. Because of Corona I haven’t been in the hospital for almost two years, so I now have a lot to catch up on. Think that’s terrible. I really hate to go to the hospital. It makes you feel like such a patient and I hate that. But I could go on my bicycle both days and a bit of fresh air through my head, that’s what I needed. The fact that we can’t go to England during our holiday suddenly came in and it made me very sad. I miss England so much. Luckily I have a dear friend who suggested we go out for dinner and that is planned! That cheers me up.

Thursday I had an ultrasound of the liver and blood drawn. And also a dab for blood gases, luckily they no longer do that in the wrist. On Friday I had to go for a mamogram, just the biennial. A photo had to be redone and that scared me a bit but it was all good. I still have pain in my sternum. Geez, what are they scraping these days. Two weeks ago I had already drawn blood and now I only have to do the 6-minute walk test and in October to the pulmonologist and then I’ve finally have it all done! And then once every six months again of course, but then I am back on scedule with hospital visits.

And then the weekend…..

On Saturday I first exercised and then nothing more. Still so tired. Actually I wanted to take some photos for the blog but I just didn’t have the energy. We did have a nice meal outside, Gerben had made pizza. And watched Cardinal in the evening. When we were just in bed, at 0.30 a.m, Gerben had a phone call and he had to go to Amsterdam for a malfunction. On Sunday I woke up with the feeling that I was really going to get sick. First had breakfast(no pancakes with strawberries!) and took paracetamol. Then I sat in the garden and read, but it was not really relaxing. One of the neighbors decided to cut wood all afternoon!! Idiot!

Gerben came home at half past two p.m and went straight to bed. At four o’clock I again took some paracetamol because they had done their job. I’m done with feeling not good again. I’ve been feeling bad all week and now I want to enjoy again yes! I can imagine that this is not exactly a pleasant read for you. Sorry, this is just my life. It’s not just fun. But it will also pass! I have a quiet week ahead of me and we are going to plan the holiday. Gerben’s phone went of at 4.15 a.m and he had to go again…..broken nights….that could also be added.

Have a good week everyone!

You have been through the mill Nancy! I bet you’re glad that that’s all over and done with. They still do blood gasses through the wrist here. A horrible test to have done xx

I sure hope you will feel much better this week! At least all of your hospital visits are done for a while. I am finally going to a urinogynecologist this week, something I should have done a couple years ago. Went to the dentist and no cavities! I love that you are able to cycle so often. The last time we went we were got in thunderstorm on the way home. We haven’t gone in 2 weeks but we did go floating down the river this weekend which was fun!

Oh that floating sounds like fun! I hope we can cycle a lot in our holiday as we have to stay in the Netherlands. Depends on the weather.

I’m so sorry you haven’t been feeling well, Nancy. While our health issues are different, I can so relate to the “ugh, not again,” emotion. I hope this episode starts to recede soon!

I did wonder about the title, but knew all would be explained.
You must be really glad to be back on track, though.
So sorry to hear you’ve been feeling unwell. The unsummery weather must be a contributing factory, I guess. xxx

Oh, Nancy, I’m so sorry that you’ve been feeling unwell. I’m glad you made it back to the hospital to catch up on all of your regular testing, though. I can’t believe you do as much as you do! I completely get those “broken” nights. I rarely sleep more than a couple of hours at a time – it can be exhausting.

I love the picture of the “non-wild” life in your house. I laughed at the cat lolling out of the house/post.

Take care – it’s awesome to have plans made to look forward to, isn’t it? I find that really helps me, to have something in the future to be excited about.

Thanks Sheila, yes it does help. I now asked for sleeping pills. I hope that only the fact that I have them will help!! Lol.

Sorry to hear you have been unwell but it’s good the hospital visits are over for a while! It’s so sad you couldn’t have regular appointments in the pandemic – I’ve heard a lot of people outside Australia saying that, the hospitals were just too overwhelmed!

Hope your week is going well now 🙂

Your title did give me a little scare, Nancy! I’m glad it’s just part of your normal protocol. Sometimes keeping so busy just wears us down, doesn’t it? I hope you’re feeling better. You did manage to look great in your all-black outfit, of course!
