What a week. A lot of enjoying the sun. Stricter rules, no total lockdown yet, but that would be better. Going completely crazy from the itching. And cold! On Monday I called the general practitioner because of the rash from the antibiotics. I was given a creme and allergy pills. In the evening I took such a pill and the itching became less, but my skin remained red. I called the lung specialist on Tuesday to ask if I could take those pills at all throughout the antibiotic season. Because I have no trust in GP’s at all!!
Oh what a bummer
- Wrap dress with patent leggings and gun metal ankle boots.
- checked trouser suit with new boots.
- Knitted dress with scuba jacket and sneakers.
The lung specialist called back on Wednesday and I had to stop taking my antibiotics immediately because I was becoming resistant. Oops, I hadn’t taken that into account. I was in a bit of a dip because I have felt quite good in recent winters. And before I took the maintenance antibiotics I was sick every winter. So yes, that fear is there again. Anyway, I’m not someone who gets stuck in a slump for long. So I spoke firmly to myself and listed the benefits of not having to take such pills. Let’s hope that I am strong enough to get through the winters!
Enjoying the sun
- Enjoying our little spot of sunshine.
- Denise, wit tea and a cake.
On Wednesday it was such nice weather in the afternoon that I sat in the sun for an hour. It was 12 degrees Celsius but in the sun it was lovely. Thursday was also sunny and Denise came by and we had tea outside for two hours! Really enjoying the sun and some time with a dear friend. Gerben had to work on Saturday and Denise wanted to cycle, but someone came by to buy a skirt and the groceries came in the afternoon. So we decided to just sit in the sun drinking tea again. Denise brought something tasty to go with the tea!
Sunday was a bit of a lazy day. Not much done. Gerben still had to do a few things because he had worked on Saturday. So I got a little bored. Didn’t feel like doing anything. Well, then that’s okay too. I sometimes have to learn that doing nothing is okay too. In my head I always need to do something. And now without the antibiotics I certainly have to take even more care of my health. So a quite day isn’t that bad……but I don’t like it!
- Gerben makes the best mussels Irish way!
- Look at that sauce!! So delicious!
- And he made mushroom risotto on Sunday, so gooood!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
I’m sorry about the issues with the antibiotics! The rash had me worried. So glad you called your specialist!. So nice you had a good afternoon with your friend, Denise.
I recently read an article on the Dutch practice of niksen. I wondered if the article was accurate given that some concepts don’t translate well. In any case, I am trying to give myself permission to do nothing when the mood strikes, instead of feeling that my self worth is dependent on always being industrious.
Stay safe my friend!

Yes, I am glad I did too. GP’s don’t know about alpha 1. Dutch practice? Haha, I call it boring when I am doing nothing. On the other hand, I do like to watch the telly or read with a cup of tea in the afternoon. But we name it niksen yes. When you are doing nothing.
So glad you have some time outside! Hopefully you can get your rash under control without antibiotics. Those meals look delicious!

I am the same, always wanting to do things. Sitting on the sofa doing nothing is a guilt trip! It’s really something you have to learn if you’re a busybody. Hopefully your rash will get under control, but what a let down that you have to stop taking your antibiotics. I admire your strength and ability to always look at the sunny side, even in scary situations! But hey, there’s always fashion and food to cheer you up! And a little bit of sunshine! xxx

Sorry that you are still having that awful itch. I hope this winter you won’t be as sick without the antibiotics.

Oh my gosh, Nancy, I hope that the rash/itch goes away soon!
Your mirror outfits are awesome! I love your knit dress. Happy to hear you were able to enjoy some sunshine for a bit, even in the cold, and also happy to see you distancing-visiting with your friend.
Gerben can cook for me anytime! Your meals always look amazing!

Haha, he can cook really well! Thanks Sheila.
That was my mood tonight: taking it easy after 2 busy days and using the slightly rainy evening to stay in instead of going for a walk. Going to enjoy an evening in front of the tv and I guess my computer as I want to write next Monday’s post!

The weather looks lovely and so does having some tea! We’ve had a warm stretch here too and I’m going to miss it!

Yes me too, I really hate the winter.
I hope the rash goes away soon. It is always good to do the extra work to take care of ourselves and I’m glad you made that extra call! Oh, sitting in the sun sounds lovely… especially with tea! Those dishes look so yummy, especially the risotto!
