One of the fun things in life for me is to spent time with girlfriends. Last week me and my girlfriend cycled a while and had a nice lunch on the way. In our area you can really cycle peacefully. There are good cycle paths everywhere, so not like in my beloved England, and there is a lot of nature in the area. We went for lunch at a marina, nice and relaxed by the water. During lunch we talked about that so many people are only busy with careers and have almost no eye for their social life or hobbies.
We are so busy busy busy…..
When you ask someone how they are doing, you almost always get the answer: busy busy busy. (as if they have less hours in a day then you) I asked my girlfriend if she didn’t want to take on a hobby. And she said she didn’t have time for that. I told her she should make time for fun things. But then I also realized that I was like that when I was still working. I too was only busy with my work. I was not so much busy making a career but I was just very passionate about my work, I really liked it. And only when I had to stop that, did I realize that there was something more than just work. That family and friends are more important.
Not that work is not important, but friends and family will be there for you. Work not. I got so up in my work that I had less eye for my family and friends. Let alone my illness. That is a pity. I really understand that this is how it works, don’t misunderstand me. It’s difficult to change things while you are in the ratmill of working.
I mean, we all have our bills to pay and all. But try to enjoy and don’t put of doing things you love to do. Before you know it, years have passed and you think: what have I actually done? It all goes so fast.
And now on to the fun things in life: Fashion!
Another pre loved find from the same brand as this short dress! With pockets! I love the print, very ,,groovy,, yeah. Haha, Nude sandals because I don’t want the attention on the shoes and a pink cardigan. Minus point is the loop that sticks out of the cardigan! Minus point for the photographer! Oh, I shouldn’t say that, what if he says: well, take your own photos dear! He doesn’t!
My nails are in different shades of nude and the ring fingers has a golden stripe, I hope you can see that.
I discovered a very nice second hand shop in Arnhem where you can not only buy, but also sell your clothing! I am going to try that. And I will let you know how that went.
Would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!

I’m always trying to juggle more time Nancy! The dress is gorgeous ! xx

There are just not enough hours in a day are there Laurie!
Love how well everything in your outfit coordinates! The cardi and dress look so good together! 🙂
I find myself busy too – getting up early before the boys and that hour or two after they are asleep in bed is the only way to get things done, haha! time with them is the best though, and I’ve learnt the difference between things that need to get done and things that I want to get done! It’s not too busy doing the things that need to be done, and gives you lots of time to play with the kids and colour or play with trains!
Thank you for the link up!
Hope that your week is going well 🙂 I had a night out with friends last night which was wonderful 🙂

Such a pretty outfit, Nancy! I love these shades of pink and blush on you. And I agree completely, we need to make time for the fun stuff! Life is way too short not to. As you know, I am embracing all the fun things this summer! I am going to a concert on Saturday night then another music festival in about 3 weeks, then the following weekend I am spending 4 days at my best friend’s house with all of our kids.

That dress and sweater look really great together. It’s a shame that we’re all so crazy busy all the time. I fall into that pit too of not having time for things I want to do, but you’re right. It’s so important to make the time.

It really is Julie!
Cycling with your friend sounds like fun! I haven’t done that in a long time.

We do it all the time, sometimes at night after dinner. To cycle to the ice cream bar! Haha
Love the colors and print of this dress! Gorgeous!

It is hard when you’re working, but you’re right. Life goes by whether you’re doing something fun or not. I think it takes real life experience to realize that though.
Once my best friend died at age 34, I realized that life’s too short for SO many things.
I love this dress Nancy. You find the best things lately.
XOXO

Yes that is the sad thing about it! You only realize when something awful happens!
We need some bikes! We love to bike when we go to the beach once a year but there are a few places here that we could bike too! It is especially nice in the spring and fall!
What a fun dress!

Groovy!! Thanks!
I think that is great advance you gave your friend. It is nice to have something fun to do because it seems we spend so much time working. I love your dress! It is retro and fun!
Author
Yes and fun is much more important!
First of all , I love your beautiful dress! The pattern is so pretty and look lovely on you. I love the advice you gave to your friend. I have been having similar conversations with one of my friends who is rather miserable and resents so many people. She needs to find joy in her life and have something for herself. Great post!

I agree, we need to take a moment to enjoy life before it totally passes us by. Friends and family first. Nothing like having some serious health scares this year to put that at the forefront of my mind.
Love this look!

It sounds cruel, but that is really what set us back to the important things in life. I know! How are you doing then?
You are right in so many ways, Nancy. I’m in a situation when I find myself too caught up with work. More than I want actually. At 58, I would love to work less, and not more, but the latter seems to be the case. I’m going to look into working 4/5, as I need more time for myself, my family and my friends too. And blogging. I would be lost if I didn’t have blogging. As for your outfit, I absolutely love what you’re wearing. The dress has such a stunning print, and I love how you combined it with the pale pink cardigan. Just lovely! xxx

It is a rat race isn’t it. My girlfriend said a few years ago, that when she turned 50, she wants to work 3 days a week. I asked her if she did go through with that, as she turns 50 soon, and she said, no it’s to busy at work!
Great outfits : ) I hope your having a great summer. xoxo

You’re right Nancy. I’m guilty quite often. In fact, this morning I just wrote down the word “stillness”. I need to be still. Love the outfit!

I love your dress Nancy, the print is fabulous! It has a sixties vibe about it. The cardigan and nude shoes are perfect with it.

Nancy, here I am a few days late as the internet is lousy aboard our ship. And we have been so BUSY! Haha! You are so right about the working years–you can’t see past your work and family and life, and sometimes forget to simplify things a bit. I do love your thrifted dress–and it’s styled perfectly, of course!
xx Darlene
Oh, and I forgot to say how much we enjoyed Amsterdam! A beautiful city with lots of fun things to do. But the bicycles!! They say 750,000 bikes for 650,000 people!! Yikes! Very environmental, however, and lots of fun to see.
xx Darlene
Author
Haha, yes we do everything by bicycle!

It is relaxing time for you on board Darlene! That’s why internet is lousy! Have fun dear!
Hi Nancy! Sorry I’m late to the party but better late than never! I love this dress on you and it’s one that I would totally wear! The fabric and print are perfect and would go most anywhere! Your pictures always make me smile because it looks like you’re having a good time! Hope you have a great week!
Author
Oh thank you, that is very kind of you! And you are just fashionably late!
That’s a lovely dress, Nancy! I think it’s from the early 00s – that type of pattern was very popular then. I love that you did pale pink with it – a great choice.
I agree – we need to make sure to set aside time for hobbies, and activities that are just for us! It’s so important for our mental health.
Author
It’s a bit psychedelic isn’t it? I love that!
The dress is the focal point of this outfit, I think you made the right choice with nude sandals so they don’t compete with the dress. We have consignment shops where you can buy secondhand clothes and also sell your clothes. It’s a great idea!
