I love tulle skirts. I like the dramatic look of a tulle skirt. I’ve actually only have had black ones, this denim tulle skirt is my first colored one. But a while ago I saw this skirt impressing me on Alison’s Instagram lives. Alison sells clothes through social media and she had a lot of tulle skirts in all kinds of colors last summer. I was immediately sold when I saw this denim blue tulle skirt! I had to have it! This is not a sponsored post, I paid for it all, but Alison is such a sweetheart!
*Btw, I wrote a guest post for Michelle today. Perhaps you like to read it!
How to style a denim tulle skirt
But first doubted for a while, because it is simply not cheap to order from the Netherlands, but the skirt is worth it. The quality is much nicer than I had expected and the tulle skirt itself is much nicer too, with a good underskirt. I styled the denim tulle skirt here the way Alison suggested. With a navy colored top with a boat neck and navy espadrilles. And a small navy belt.
This is really such an easy skirt that you can also wear well in the winter. With a lovely wool sweater and boots. but I will definitely wear it with a white top and my beloved white sneakers too. But also with black! Can you imagine it with black combat boots! And a denim blouse! Oh my, want to try all sorts of looks with this denim tulle skirt.
Why not wear a tulle skirt
As I said above, I have only had black tulle skirts, while I write this I am thinking, no I also had a pink one. But that one doesn’t count because it wasn’t a pretty one. (I actually also have this one, that once was a dress) Anyway, and I already wore them when I was in my 20s. I just can’t remember how I wore it back then. Yes, I guess monochrome black of course, and probably with ankle boots.
A lot of women don’t think tulle is something to wear casually, they think it’s more for a festive day, I think it is. It’s an everyday skirt, just with a little more drama. But this denim tulle skirt has less of that drama then a black one, in my opinion, and is super wearable for an ordinary day. Why should you save favorite clothes for special days? That’s weird isn’t it? And a waste of those clothes. Wear what you like!

Oooh lovely tulle skirt Nancy, I love it with the denim jacket. I’ve bought a couple of things from Alison, including a ilac leopard tulle skirt. I love how she makes styling suggestions and models the clothes herself

You wear this so well! I had a tulle skirt and looked horrible in it – I was so sad, I love them and think they are so fun. My mid section is just too big and I look like a giant blob! Ha!!

I don’t think I ever owned or wore a tulle skirt. While I think it looks fabulous on others – you for example – I don’t think they are me! I’m absolutely loving this denim one and the simple but marvellous way you styled it with navy! xxx

Actually to be honest, I don’t think it is your style either. And they are often solid, don’t think you ever wear, or hardly, wear solids.
Nancy, the tulle skirt looks fabulous on you! I love the different shades of blue and different textures together-and the denim tulle is very unusual. Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for the link up!

I really like the the monochromatic tones of this look: I am still wanting to add a tulle skirt to my closet but I do not like anything that is pleated so… I haven’t found anything yet that I think I will like. Head to toe, though, I think I would love to wear this whole outfit.
