I havn’t got my presents ready yet, but I do know I want to wear this tulle and lace dress for Christmas. Or shall I alter it into a skirt? (well, not me….the tailor!)
What a busy month November was! Gerben’s birthday, many meetings, a few concerts and many dinners. Also visited my lung doctor. He will retire by the end of this year! How strange is that! When I first came to see him twenty years ago, I really didn’t think I would outlive his retirement. But very annoying, I thought it was a very good doctor who knew me through and through! And helped me through a very black period. Gerben and I had a lovely present with wine and cheese for him. He appreciated that a lot.
Anyway, it’s December now. And I had hoped that I would have bought the presents a little in time, but in the meantime I have nothing yet. Pff. Yes, I still have three weeks left but to think of something for Gerben! What a job!
My pre-loved lace and tulle dress
I showed you this dress last Monday at Stylish Monday. This is a pre-loved dress. But I think it has never been worn. The lace and tulle skirt is so beautiful, the blue is really cobalt blue. It is a of shoulder dress but the body is too tight for me. It is very nicely fitted but with my bad lungs I hardly get any air. So I will go to the tailor to have the body altered, or I have the dress made into a skirt. I tend to the latter. But this is not a dress that I will only wear at festive days, I like to wear lace and tulle any kind of day.
How I styled this dress
I love to wear this faux leather bolero on these kind of dresses. You have seen it before. I only wear tights with a print, or laced tights, when I wear a solid dress or skirt. Otherwise I think it is to much. The gun metal ankle boots fit perfect with the lighter color of the lace in the dress. I am wearing blue and light pink with gold earrings, but I think I will wear black earrings next time with the dress. If there is one thing that draws the attention in a outfit, I like to keep the rest calm.
What about you? Do you already know what you will wear at Christmas? Will it be it a festive outfit, or are you happy that you can relax in your lounge outfit at home. Nothing wrong with that of course! I will put out my party dress and slip into my pyjamas when the visit is gone and we can relax!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest.
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!
Shop my look!
I think this would make a great skirt.
No idea what I’m wearing for Christmas Day – it’s too far away! I still have two full weeks of work to dress for!

Looking for inspiration on what to wear for Christmas. Not sure yet, but I do like to add a festive twist to whatever I am wearing. That dress as a skirt will be perfect!

Thanks Jill!
Those silver booties are the icing on the cake! I’ve just seen on Insta that you’ve brought the dress to the tailor to have it altered into a skirt. I think that’s a great idea! Looking forward to seeing which top you’ll be wearing it with! xxx

I am not sure what top I would wear on it! I think a sheer one.
I just adore the idea of taking off the bodice and keeping the skirt. I had my mom do that for a dress of hers from forever ago. And I wore the skirt to death.
I tried it myself with a dress, and it turned out okay…it’s not perfect, but I still wear it.
And those silver boots just tickle my fancy. I actually purged my pair because they were cracking. So I’m going to need another pair soon!!

Ik had ooit precies hetzelfde probleem. Gelukkig zelf handig en heb ook een rok gemaakt van de jurk.
Ik draag een gebreid jurkje, lekker warm!

What a simply gorgeous dress and yes, do have it altered as it really suits you.
I hope you get another really great doctor, Nancy, you deserve it so. And I haven’t finished my Xmas shopping either – eek!
Have a lovely rest of the week xxx

They are fabulous hey!
Nancy, this dress is gorgeous! I l love the colors and the print. And it will be equally beautiful altered into a skirt. The leather bolero is so cool with it and I need those gunmetal boots! I am sorry that your doctor is retiring. That is a difficult transition, I am sure, when you have built a relationship over so many years and he has helped you through so much. But how wonderful that you did outlive his retirement! Yay!
I have just finished my Christmas shopping with 10 days to spare. Now I must get to wrapping it all.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, my friend!

Oh you are on time with your presents. Less can be said about me! Thanks love!
Love the detail on the dress, so pretty and the metallic boots are the perfect touch with your outfit! I know I’m wearing a maxi dress on Christmas day but haven’t picked which one yet – I think I’m going to shop my wardrobe rather than buying something new.
