All the way back to normal mode! The holiday has already been forgotten, but…..what a great week I had. Full of fun and very exciting things. First of all, I’ve told you before that I was feeling a bit down and negative before the holidays, I had no positive feelings at all. For months actually. Since February or so. Now I blamed the menopause.( my GP told me it is not a menopause symptom) But it turned out to be from Covid 19.
Bringing back my positive feelings.
- A thank you after the Tuesday adventure, I received a day later in my mailbox.
- With very sweet and positive words.
- Lunch with girlfriends.
- Playing boadgames on Saturday night.
As a chronically ill person, Gerben and I have been very careful the past year and a half. Little to no going out. Hardly see any family or friends. And that had an impact on my mental state. It also took me a week during the holidays to get into the relax mode. But once I realized that negative feeling was caused by the lack of social contacts and normal life, I could place it.
I had been meeting up a bit more, with friends and family, for a few weeks and now during the holidays it suddenly went a lot better. Just go to a restaurant, shop or cinema again. And meet up with family and friends. One just needs that! The weird thing was that once I had expressed my not so positive feelings, things got a lot better. So it’s really true that talking about problems helps…..mm….I am not much of a talker…
A positive week, finally!
- This is what I wore to lunch.
- Chicken skewers on Sunday night.
- With a wool poncho which is so warm.
Monday, the day after the holiday I was busy with emails and blogging and of course working out again. Tuesday I had a very exciting day with a television crew. I can’t say more yet. But it was fun to do but also exhausting. On Wednesday I had a lovely lunch with friends and we made all kinds of fun plans for outings. On Thursday I received a very nice email for even more television something. Thursday night I had a meeting, no Teams this time, so it was really nice to see and speak to each other again in real. All positive things!
The weekend started of course with Fancy Friday Night (no idea what I am talking about? Check my IG and join my tag #nancysfashionstyle)and a delicious coffee with Tia Maria. Saturday first a work out and in the afternoon sitting in the garden, in the sun, reading, the new Karen Slaughter. In the evening friends came to visit and we played settlers of Cartan. Didn’t win!
On Sunday we cycled a bit, not that far because Gerben had already had a work out in the morning. And at home I made chicken skewers and we turned on the heater and the bbq and ate outside. Then we went in and watched two episodes of Line of Duty. What a good series that is! And what a wonderful weekend it was! I hope you also had a nice weekend and I wish you a nice week!
- We saw a lot of buzzards while cycling.
- And this huge caterpillar. A very fashionable one, wearing red and orange!
- And again a lot of storks, this one was snacking very close by.
Did you experience negative feelings because off Covid? Because of the lack of socializing?
Yay for the wonderful week! I’m glad you had a fantastic week and I love your lunch outfit!

Thanks Lovely!
I’m glad to hear that your negative mood has turned around and that your holiday was a great help in achieving that.
I’ve had the same, but I immediately put the blame on Covid 19, as well as the awful Summer we’ve had. It was only during our holiday that I was able to let go of the feeling of doom caused by Covid 19, and indeed, doing normal things again and meeting people in person has been a joy!
I’m on tenterhooks to learn more about your television plans, Nancy, it sounds quite intriguing! xxx

I didn’t think that less , or no, socializing would had that effect on me. But I am so happy to feel better and positive again!
The pandemic has done a number on mental health that’s for sure and it will take many years to overcome. I am so happy you are feeling better and I cannot wait to find out what all the television stuff is about! I am excited for you!

Thank you very much Kathrine!
I love your outfits with the sneakers!! We do not see storks in Georgia so it is really cool when you share pictures of them. I haven’t really had any negative attitude/feelings associated with Covid but I think that is mostly because apart from that initial lockdown last year, life has been pretty normal for us here.

WE really had some serious lock downs here and because of my lungdisease we are very carefull. But it starts to get to normal life again.
You have absolutely glorious hair! And, I love that smart little jacket! Oh, yes, covid has been wreaking havoc on my mental health. I live in an area currently getting really high numbers due to the delta variant…I surely hope we don’t make it all the way through the alphabet with this. What fun it must be to see storks so close!

Oh thank you! No I do hope we have seen the end of it now, it is such a weird world! We have a lot of storks here.
I love the outfit you wore to lunch. The outfit with the striped top is lovely as well. It’s true that it helps to talk about our problems. I’m not very good with this most of the time, but sometimes it helps to analyze our negative feelings.

I am not either, not much of a talker. But it really helped and tat is te important thing!
I think what you’ve been experiencing is the perfect example of how our social interaction is SO important to us.
Sorry, I’m here visiting late, but I’ve been getting your emails a day after you post. I haven’t read the stripe post yet!!

It really is Jodie! I know, I receive them myself a day late too. Follow it isn’t the best subscribe thing. But better late then not be there at all. lol.
So sorry to read about how much you have been struggling with Covid; we have been so fortunate that our lives haven’t been disrupted all that much. But I definitely noticed a difference in my attitude as restrictions eased. Sounds like you had a wonderful week.

Covid has disrupted our lives so much and caused depression for so many. I’m glad your negative mood has subsided and you enjoyed meeting up with friends.

It did Yvonne. Thanks, more socializing feels so much better!
Nancy, I’m so glad you figured out that you needed more socializing – it is easy to sink into a depression when you’re not around people (even for us introverts!). All problems are better when you can talk about them – they always seem less then. Looks like your days have been full of good times since then (I spy Cataan!) – doesn’t it make a huge difference?
Love your pretty wrap-style skirt! I hope you have a great week ahead, my dear.
Author
Yes you spied that correctly! You can wake me up in the middle of the night to play that!
Ohh, look at that food and such a cute skirt! Oh, I know what you mean about Covid. In some areas of my life things seem back to normal and in other areas, not so much. I have a family that tends to be ultra-safe, so I haven’t seen some of them really all that much since Covid and I doubt I will this next holiday season! But, I’m trying to see the happiness in each day!
