Quality time with friends and family has never been more important than now. In recent months we, and no doubt you too, have seen our family and friends far too little. Now that the weather is so nice, we can have a barbecue and eat outside again, and get together with them. And that’s what we did!
The featured photo is of our party in 2017 when we celebrated our 25th anniversary with family and friends!
Quality time with friends and family
- Waiting for the annual blood test. There was no fumigation stuff, no gloves and no mask for the person who took the test. I thought that was to idiot for words!
- I hate to do this.
- Storks in the pasture.
Monday and Tuesday were nothing special, the usual, working out, blogging and feeling tired. On Wednesday I went cycling with Denise. It was not super sunny weather, temperature of 19 degrees Celsius. Which is 3 degrees to cold for me. We had a delicious lunch en route in a very nice town, Doesburg. Very touristy, and too busy. We cycled 40 kilometers and in the evening I was exhausted. But it was fun. just some cycling is quality time to these days. From Thursday, summer finally came back to the Netherlands, so finally time to read in the garden again! I have started with the new Karen Slaughter!
Now more then ever spending time with your loved ones is so important
- Doesburg is a lovely ancient town.
- Denise was print mixing!
- We ordered Flammkuchen, it’s not a pizza!
Friday is always my cleaning day and I was soon finished. It was over 30 degrees and very stuffy, so every step I took outside I was breathless. The fact that a junkyard in the nearby village was burning did not help either. Smoke was visible in half of the Netherlands. Not normal, it was just dark outside! I was standing in the bathroom when it started and thought, hey where is the sun? Is it going to rain. But then all the sirens made it clear there was something going on.
- This was from the fire, this was going on for hours. We had to close everything.
- In the garden with our friends.
- Food and wine, what can I say….
I was again looking forward to a wonderfully quiet Friday evening, but Gerben was only home at 9:30 PM. We still had a nice dinner outside and saw the owls! Saturday we had a bbq at our friends. That gives me energy. Socialize with people I love, while enjoying food and wine! Sunday we celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday in my brother-in-law’s garden. And as always, we ordered pizzas! The hole family got together and we kept us to the 1,5 metre rule. It was very doable. How’s that for quality time! Then watched the Grandprix at home. Was still exciting in the end!
- My brother-in-law and nephews.
- Yeah, pizza!
- Cool dudes!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
Looks lovely! Glad you got to see your family and friends.

The party was three years ago! But still a good one!
Family and friends times are the best. I can’t believe that there were no mask and gloves for the person who took the test! OMG!

Strange hey, I told my GP and she didn’t go into it as if it was normal.
Can’t believe there wasn’t sanitizing material, gloves or masks at the place where you had your blood test. How crazy is that? Wow, cycling 40 km sounds quite exhausting to me. It’s nice that you could have lunch with your friend, though. That fire in the junkyard looks quite serious! No wonder you had to close doors and windows. Lovely to be able to go to a barbecue with friends. Socializing is indeed very energizing, especially in these times! xxx

Well on a ebike Ann, I can’t cycle on normal bicycles. The fire was serious. I don’t know if you know where Arnhem is, but people in Utrecht even saw it!
We are just loving spending extra time with family and friends lately; especially while the weather is still quite nice. Your “not a pizza” looks delicious! (I’m not even attempting to spell the actual word as I know I would not get it right).

Haha it’s German!
That’s crazy about the fire. I hope everything is okay.
Our social activities are truly important to our well being. I’m glad you were able to celebrate your FIL’s birthday.

Yes we were too, he is 84 now, or 85? Oeps….. But he is the best FIL a girl could want!
That flammkuchen looks delicious! What’s your beverage of choice with it? Beer? Or wine? I hope the air has cleared after that fire. Maybe a good rainfall would help? Stay safe!

I had ginger tea, but if I ate that in the evening it would have been red wine. I don’t like beer, only the cherry and lemon ones!
I’m glad the weather is permitting outside get togethers! It’s far too hot here for that – 110F (43C). I was chatting with a friend via text and we were discussing the possibility of outdoor socializing toward the end of September.

Haha, yes me too!
I can’t believe that a person drawing blood wasn’t wearing ANY PPE! that is ridiculous!
Your adventure looks like fun, although like you, I’m very leery of crowds these days. That sucks about the burning – that must have been aggravating to your poor lungs! Nice that you got a long bike ride in, and also all your good times with friends, pizza and wine!
Hope your week is going well, my dear!

Thanks Sheila!
I so enjoy eating outside. We need to do it again soon. That junk yard fire looks horrific. People burn tires across the border from us and our smog can be really bad at times from it.
Can’t imagine that the blood donation site wasn’t better prepared. We donated in July, too, and they were most precautious. Thank goodness.

I had to say something about it but didn’t! It was really bad.
