Necklaces-The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book

collage necklaces

I had to think about necklaces for a moment. Not that I don’t have any, quite the opposite. But now I did have to look for a somewhat special one, of course. I’ve been wearing a little gold necklace with a heart for 34 years. It was a gift from Gerben when we had been together for six months. I never take it off. So you always see that one in the photos already. Which one did I choose? And who joined us this month? Read on and you’ll find out!

Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series in February 2018, but we had been working together a year previous. So you can say we really like to host these series! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join us. The more the merrier!

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

It is a collage of outfits from all different women! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We’ll keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc.

But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!

So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Necklaces!

First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

green and purple outfit

This combination of three necklaces is one of my favorites that I go to frequently because they coordinate so well with each other and with many of my outfit creations. The triple layered Good Buy necklaces include my Shelbee mala beads, a fabric ring necklace found at a flea market, and my wooden owl pendant from my favorite local hippie shop.

It is so hard to choose favorites, so I picked a vintage necklace. 1960’s Vintage reticulated gold tone leaf pendant.

layered necklaces

I was telling Shelbee that I have a bunch of necklaces too, so I’ve been trying to have more fun by layering them. This was one of my experiments and I consider them ALL a great buy.

long necklaces

I have quite a few statement necklaces since I used to be a jewelry demonstrator for a United States based company that did home parties and I often earned free jewelry like this necklace. I love the shades of silver, blue, and white and while I often think of it as feeling rather summary I decided to pair it with denim, a white blouse, and black sweater the other day. I like how the necklace really stands out against the black. I’ve had this piece for over 15 years now and it has definitely been a good buy.

golden and brown necklaces

Nancy, here is my good buy necklace. I bought this at the art museum gift shop and just love it. This is a Michael Michaud ginkgo necklace on large beads.  I’m not sure what they are as I can’t find the necklace on his website.

And here is my necklace

This was a very Good Buy necklace as I had it for years and wore it a lot. It was a bit furry and that golden in the middle, was a fish with only the bones. I thought it was so funny. Super cute!

May’s theme will be: Pastels!

Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com

What great necklaces! I love jewelry and seeing how everyone has purchased and continued to enjoy such different pieces makes me think there could be no such thing as a Goodbye necklace – they are all good buys!

Hi, Nancy – Yes, definitely, the cat with the fish of bare bones is a winner! Every morning I have to see My Daily Dose of Cats on YouTube. They are so funny and adorable and surprising…except for the ones that attack their owners! Thanks for faithfully hosting this series – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
