A few weeks ago I went out for lunch with my sister and then went shopping at a store in Arnhem. In the evening her boyfriend drove from work to our house and we went out for dinner. My sister, Laura, and I went for lunch at the Steenstraat in Arnhem. This is a very old street that has been modernized with all smaller and original stores. We first had lunch at a restaurant called the Metropool that used to be a old cafe. I can still remember the tables with Persian carpet rugs and glass ashtrays. Now it’s a trendy place where you can eat.
Shopping and lunch in Arnhem
Then we went shopping at Eigen Stijl. In addition to clothing, this store also has crockery, accessories, etc. for sale. What I love about that store is that they have good saleswomen walking around who really do their best to sell something. I love that!
*This is not a sponsored post, I just want to introduce you to some of my favorite places in Arnhem, my birth town.
And having dinner after shopping and lunch in Arnhem
First I had on a blouse and a cardigan with this skirt. But I don’t really like blouses. It was a very beautiful one, but I don’t feel good in a blouse. And after a lot of blouses and tops, the saleswoman came with this sweater! I liked that! It has glitters! And I don’t even like glitters that much. But I think this skirt need something a bit bold, otherwise it can be boring. I also look forward to style this skirt with blue and light green.
Laura had bought a beautiful suit from Studio Anneloes and a very nice King Louie dress! And a lot more! Haha, she is as bad as I am. At home we had a nice chat and in the evening Gudo and Gerben came home from work and we had a drink together. After that we went out for dinner in our village. We had a great evening with good food and wine! What a wonderful day! Thanks Sis!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!
My favorite of last week is: Ralphie of Shelbee on the Edge
Now let me explain why I choose this photo. It’s because of the boy’s mother Shelbee. She and I work together in our monthly series for almost three years now! I have seen her struggle and grow (like a lot of you) and I can honestly say, without even knowing her IRL, I love that woman!
And now it’s time to start the Fancy Friday linkup party!

Good morning Nancy. Looking good girl! It seems to be a bit different than your “normal” style. Maybe the colours? Maybe the stripes? I don’t know, but I do know that I like it a lot. It is very much an autumn outfit with already a wink towards spring, because of the colourful stripes in the top. I am sure you are going to wear this outfit a lot.
Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing that adorable photo of Shelbee’s son, including the uplifting text. Love, Lieske
Author
Thanks Lieske! Yes it is a bit different because I bought it at the bit retro shop where I usually don’t shop. But I liked it to be a bit different then usual.
Lieske, thanks so much for your kind words about my son. Don’t let his cuteness fool you though! He is a challenging one, for sure!

I’ve got a very similar jumper and wear it with a skirt the same colour as yours but I much prefer your skirt! Mine is too baggy, long and shapeless. One for the bad buys book! Have a great weekend!

I thought you had such a sweater yes. Thanks Gail, have a great weekend!
Nothing better than a shopping day Nancy! Something I haven’t done for a while. Love the jumper with the skirt. I have a jumper similar. Have a great weekend Nancy. xx

Aw, Nancy, you just made my day with this feature! And your very kind words about me. I just showed Ralphie and was explaining to him about being featured on another blog and he was all smiling and asked, “Is she your friend, Mommy?” I said, ‘Yes, she is my friend who lives in the Netherlands.” He thought that was so cool! Thanks so much, my friend. I love this cute stripey sweater and the color of that skirt is beautiful! Great look. And what fun to spend the day shopping and dining with your sister.

Love this so much. Shelbee, your son is a doll. A natural at posing!! Love his pattern mixing. And you are a sweetie. I appreciate the friendship you and Nancy have grown over the Internet and into real life. Nancy, your visit with your sister sounds perfect. Glad you were able mix in good wine, and good food, with good company and successful shopping. You look smashing in that skirt. GREEN!! The best color ever.

OMG, isn’t Ralphie a cutie! He even has the pose down.
I love this sweater – I wish I could see the sparkle. It looks great with this skirt.
Ah, I’m seeing that poor black cat in the Santa outfit in your picture scroll at the bottom (from your previous post). That poor kitty. He is going to get even with you, Nancy, look out! He has murder in his eyes, ha ha!

Thanks Jill, that is very kind of you!
I love time with my sister! In fact, I saw her for a couple days over Thanksgiving break. Missing her already. Anyway, you look fab in this outfit Nancy. It’s so flattering!
Author
Thank Chrissy, she doesn’t live nearby?
Oh Nancy, I don’t like blouses either and never feel comfortable in them. I much prefer fitted tops – jumpers, t-shirts and so on. The striped top is absolutely you – love it – and the skirt is exactly right. Lovely outfit. Have a great weekend xxx
Author
Yes I prefer that more too. Thanks Penny!
I’m totally in love with your outfit, Nancy, and I love it that you were able to find both the skirt and jumper in one of your favourite shops. That striped jumper is such a great piece, even if I can’t see the sparkle. That’s always hard to photograph, isn’t it? I wish my sister and I had enough in common to go on a shopping trip with her. I’m glad you and your sister do! xxx
Author
Thanks Ann. I only am on speeking terms with my sister since a few years after 20 or so. And I do love to do things with her, it’s different then with girlfriends. About the glitters, it wasn’t sunny, I should learn to not shoot then but then again, the sun doesn’t shine that much in the weekends in this time of the year.
So great you enjoyed a nice shopping day with your sister. I really like your outfit, it is so feminine and chic. Great striped sweater! The skirt is fabulous as well. You look phenomenal.

That skirt and sweater outfit is so cute, Nancy! I’m jealous that you have a sister. I have four brothers and one son! Lol! But I am close with my SILs so I get some girl interaction.
I am a day late and a dollar short lately. Computer issues, Thanksgiving…I can’t seem to keep up with things! Ugh.
Happy weekend,
xx Darlene

What a beautiful day with your sister! It’s great that you share enough in common to spend the day together. I recently spent a day with mine and we had a great time. Those times are too few and far between. What a great sweater and I love that it’s glittery! And I think that your dislike of blouses is in your head because you look just wonderful in them. Maybe you’ll like them better now that the high waistline has come back in. It was so awkward trying to wear them (at least all tucked in) with low-waisted skirts and pants. I like that skirt but you’re right – it needs color to top it off. It’s a great look! And I love your choice of Ralphie – what a handsome young man and he has such a beautiful Mom. And thank you for the link-ups!
