Another week and then we finally have a holiday! We are so looking forward to it. And we are nearing the last summer days. The temperature drops, the sun is gone and the days really start to become shorter. Oh, why can’t summer last forever! The featured photo is my last summer outfit from last year.
We will of course stay in our own country, but we can enjoy ourselves very well, as there are a lot of places we never been to. Although a week in Rye would have been great.

Tuesday we had squid on the barbeque. We ate that a lot when we went to Lanzarote every year, years ago. So good! With a simple salade and some garlic sauce! Denise and I cycled a bit on Wednesday and of course had lunch somewhere! Gerben had to go to the vet on Thursday for the annual check-ups. He got a compliment that the cats are so well mannered!
Although Castor drowns out everything there. He just really wants to let you know that he is in charge and is very loud and want to explore everything. At home he was really pissed off that he had to be put in the bench! Haha, so funny. Teun is already 13.5, which is very very old for a Maincoon. And everything was still okay with him. So nice, nothing more miserable than something going on with your beloved pets.

Gerben had to work on Saturday. Denise dropped by in the afternoon. The four of us are going to Friesland for a few days and have booked a hotel for two nights. We also hired bicycles and a boat, so keep our fingers crossed that the weather is nice. But we’ll start the holiday next Monday on my birthday! And then we will visit Den Bosch for a day. A little shopping, a little eating, you know! A bit of playing tourist in own country.
On Sunday we had friends over for a barbecue. That was still exciting because the weather forecast was not great. In the afternoon it rained all the time and when we went to dinner it was dry and the sun was shining and we enjoyed the whole evening outside! The sun is still quite strong, so when it shines it is immediately warm. And so you can still enjoy the last days of summer outside!

We’ve started enjoying dinners outside again. Soon the mosquitoes will disappear and it will be even more pleasant. Lots of rainstorms and it is fun to be under the pergola and watch the rain fall. Love that first outfit and those sandals! I don’t think I have had squid before but we had some grilled octopus last week from a Greek place and it was delicious!

It suddenly looks and feels Autumnal now the weather has changed, doesn’t it? I’m glad to hear you were still able to squeeze in barbecues and bike rides, though. We had a family barbecue on Sunday, at Jos’s son’s house. We were lucky the sun had come out by then! Good to hear all is well with the cats, that’s always a relief. It sounds like you are really enjoying these last days of summer! Ours has just finally hit the high temps! Now I just wish it would cool off a bit! Lol! Glad your cats are doing well. Yes, there is nothing worse than our pets having something wrong with them!

I love seeing your cats Nancy. Our Maine Coon mix is VERY vocal too…especially in the mornings when she wants us to get up…

Let’s not rush it! Summer isn’t over until the Autumnal Equinox around Sept 21/22! We still have nearly a month of summer!
No vacations here either, although we’ve considered a small trip within our province – but I just don’t feel like it’s a smart thing to travel right now.
Hopefully this time next year, we’ll be able to really travel!
