How to wear white ankle boots? I thought it would be easy, because on other women I think it always looks cool. But on me it feels like as if I were joining in the brass band.
Of course ankle boots look great on any look, but you can wear white ankle boots under a lot of outfits too. Nowadays you don’t have to ask yourself if it is suitable to wear whatever anymore. Because we decide for ourselves what we wear or what fits well together. That’s the great thing about fashion today. I mean, when I was in adolescence, it was really not done to wear sneakers under a dress. Or to wear pink with red. And blue and green, as I wear today, was completely out of the question. While it should be the intention of fashion to be able to express who you are and what you stand for through clothing. and being able to be creative with it.
We wear what we want to wear, no matter what
I think at that time, too many magazines and stores and designers determined how we should wear clothing. Today we determine that ourselves. Or has it to do with age perhaps? That the older we get, the more confidant we are, the more we determine things ourselves? I don’t know. Of course times are different too.
My,,not done,, outfit with white ankle boots
But back to the white ankle boots. I have had these for a few years but I can count on one hand how often I have been wearing them. While they are very comfortable because they are from a good brand. At that time I really wanted white ankle boots for a blue and white polka dot dress. I can’t remember that I actually wore them with that dress. And when I put on this outfit, my first thought was to wear green or blue boots. You know, matchy matchy me!
I would have preferred wearing sandals, but it is just a little too cold. The green boots were to olive-colored and did not look good, and the blue boots differed to much in color but just to little to make a good look. Since there is also a little bit of white in the skirt, because a color always has to come back somewhere in my head, I thought of these boots. This skirt is from Dept and is pre loved. I love the color combinations Dept often use. This is not at all a sponsored post btw. I just like their clothing.
The ruffled see threw blouse is also an oldy that I still love very much, just as that beautiful green jacket. When I was in my twenties, I had a jeans in the color of that jacket and I loved those trousers. Funny isn’t it, that you can remember some clothing of so long ago so well.
I would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!
The boots are a fun change-up with the strong colour combination – I like them, but I also have struggled with wearing them differently than I was brought up. I remember so well that sneakers + dress was a big NO!
I also love Dept clothing – I have two pieces by them that I love.
Hope you’re having a great week, Nancy!

Those boots are fabulous Nancy. And they are great with this outfit. I am a matchy-matchy type too and, like you, always admire women who do less matchy-matchy and rock in their outfits. You have crossed that magical line today girl! I totally love this! Love, Lieske

Thank you very much Lieske!
I’m with you on the white trend Nancy. Especially as I’m an Essex girl and they are labelled as the white shoe brigade. These that you are wearing are not stark white though. I think they are a classy boot and that makes all the difference. xx

Ha ha! You are right, they are not stark white. But it feels a bit…..mmm I don’t know.
The title of this post is cool and made me laugh. I love white boots – any type of white boots actually! the way you styled yours with your skirt just above the knees looks great!

I think maybe you just need to wear them more, Nancy. I adore mine and just wore them yesterday to fun errands!! Heck, even my husband loves them. I gave him the option between the white booties and pink ones for yesterday, and he almost always chooses the white ones.
Maybe it’s because I was never in the band, LOL??

Blue and green together is one of my favourite combinations. Whoever said that blue and green should never be seen was clearly colour blind 😉 I can see what you mean about the brass band, but you’ve managed to rise above that image! But I’m quite a messy girl, and I’m sure if I wore white ankle boots (or white anything) they would be scuffed by the time I get into work … xxx

Haha, thanks Ann!
Very good! You put together a wonderful look. The boots work with the flared ruffled skirt. Green mojo/semi biker jacket unite the boots with the skirt and blouse. You created a fun, feminine funky look. As always you model the clothes so well.

Oh thank you so much! I appreciate your comments!
The blouse and the skirt are such a good match I initially thought these two items were one dress. I love how you styled this outfit with white boots, it makes it more spring appropriate. I think many people associate sandals with spring, but until it gets warm enough it is better to go with boots. I actually wear boots a lot in spring, especially ankle boots. They seem to go well with everything and seem simply perfect for spring. I don’t own a white pair, though. I do like how you styled yours. I think with years we do get more comfortable with breaking rules. Our teen years are all about breaking rules but when we are in our twenties and thirties, we tend to think a lot about fashion rules, maybe because we feel we have something to prove. With time we hopefully get more relaxed and open to experimenting again thus starting to enjoy fashion in a new way.

Oh trust me dear, with time you just wear what you like!
I don’t like white shoes! I do not know why, but it gives me goosebumps!

Haha, I get what you mean!
I’m with you, I just don’t think I could do white booties. But I love your green and blue matching, and I’m happy that today, really ANYTHING goes!

Those boots look fantastic on you! And are perfectly paired with your outfit. I love white shoes, boots and everything in between. But I hate trying to keep them clean. lol In fact, I just ordered a pair of white mules from Zara (online) and fingers crossed they look good on me. lol! Hope you’re having a great week so far.

I think they look really cute with this outfit. I just got a pair of white booties and I need to remember to wear them more! I think I’ve worn them once or twice, which isn’t good enough. I think I always go with an easier option or one I’m used to.

Nancy there are fabulous on you. I am definitely going to go and look for some now. I have been slow to catch on to this trend, but they would be wonderful also for a rainy day in Spring and Summer.

I guess so! I should wear them more often!
So glad to see this post. I ordered some white booties, they arrived and I have been scared to try them. Why is that? Maybe because I didn’t want to feel like I was in a brass band!!??
Would never have thought to try them with a skirt but maybe that’s exactly how I should style them first. Will get them out this weekend.
We have been restricted for so long by silly fashion police rules…like those about mixing patterns and prints, pairing red with pink or blue with green. Where did those rules come from? So glad that fashionistas like you push the envelope and challenge those old wives’ tales so the rest of us feel comfortable doing that.

Yes me too! I would love it if you showed your booties on the blog!
These look so fresh, Nancy! The outfit is lovely!
I love the boots! I don’t own a white pair yet, but I might have to give them a try!
Happy Easter!

Love the blue and green tones on you and the jacket. I have a pair of white boots and it made me think majorette or marching band too. Once I got over that, I do love them! YOurs are very nice!
