It’s Throwback Tuesday, a look back to last week. It was a very quite week and that was good because we had a heat wave and my goodness it was hot! And I hardly saw Gerben! He is a industrial refrigeration engineer and had to solve a lot of problems. Poor guy, he works so hard.
Working out during a heat wave
I can finally go to my gym as of today for the full hour and a half. Only once a week, but it’s a start. I work out six times a week at home at the moment but I want to go back to twice at the gym and four times at home. Because at the gym they have the legpress and a pully and I don’t have that at home.
I had muscle pain from last week in my legs. I don’t mind that! That means muscles are growing….in my head! This week I had even more pain as I pressed 95 kg. And my legs felt so heavy after working out all week. Because it was so hot and that was pretty exhausting.

Working out while watching Saturday Kitchen Live!
I want to share with you the recipe for this curly cauliflower curry. This is so very delicious. Vegetarian. I always make corn cookies with it. If you want that recipe then let me know, but I think a lot of you know how to make corn cookies. What do you need? Cauliflower, red onion, chickpeas, olive oil, chili flakes, three eggs, cumin seeds, curry powder, yogurt and a lemon. I have not added any quantities, that is at my discretion.
Place the cauliflower and the sliced onion with some olive oil and the herbs in an oven dish in the preheated oven at 230 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes. Cook the eggs. After 20 minutes, add the rinsed chickpeas for another 10 minutes and you’re done! Slice the eggs in parts and lay on the curry. Place the yogurt with the herbs in a bowl and the zest of the lemon. Stir and ready! We eat the corn cakes with chili sauce. If this appeals to you, you really have to make it! So good!
What was I wearing and doing
Well not much! Wearing as well as doing! Haha, mostly work out gear and my bikini but I will spare you those photos! On Saturday my father and his wife came over. Which was so very nice as we hadn’t seen each other for more then three months. We sat outside and had dinner together. (actually we got take away Chinese food) We enjoyed it very much.
I wore a new pre loved dress with sandals. The dress is so easy to wear during a heat wave. It’s lined but it doesn’t cling and I love the length. It’s uneven at the bottom. I also love to wear something longer in the evening because of the mosquitoes. It’s navy with light blue and purple. You will see more of this dress soon. The sandals are from last year and are three colors.
- This dress I wore last Saturday, great length.
- My every day wear. but I do work out when I wear this!
On Sunday we went to the National Park for a walk as you can see in the featured photo. I hesitated to make that one a featured one. But then again if I show you a bit of my life, just like I show you photos with my tube, this is it! This is my life. When we take outfit photos I never wear the tube, because it’s about the outfits. And I don’t like to see that tube then. So I am feeling a bit brave that I have made that photo a featured one. And I am also very very happy with the new wheelchair. Gerben doesn’t have to push me and it’s a light one. I can get it out of my car by myself!
Friday night we stayed outside till midnight while it was raining. We lighted candles and had drinks and it was so relaxed. When it started to shimmer we saw the bats. But you can’t catch them on camera, they are so quick!
- Guess what I am drinking! I know you can’t!
- When we have people over for dinner, we also love to serve coffe afterwards with treats. The chocolates were still in the fridge.
Look who I found in the scullery!
Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
Sounds like a good week!
I think it’s helpful to share our “real” lives on our blogs. (Hence my discussion of my health issues sometimes.) It lets readers know what you have to deal with and also what you are accomplishing in spite of it. I applaud you making the wheelchair photo the featured photo.
Your recipe sounds delicious, but I recently learned I have an egg allergy (and a number of possible food sensitivities).
Have a great week!

Thanks Michelle! I don’t eat eggs but Gerben does and I don’t miss a thing. So you can easy eat it without.
That cauliflower curry salad sounds delicious! Glad you can get back to the gym – even if it’s just a day it’s a great start. Your workout routine is so good and why you look so fabulous!

It’s all about routine. Once you get in some sort of routine it is good!
How wonderful that your new wheelchair is so good!!
We just went for a walk this morning (early, because it heats up fast) and I’m not sure I liked it. I like relaxing in the mornings…we will see. Because we need to incorporate something that works.

Or you can walk in the evening and still have a relaxed morning!
To be honest, I’m glad it has cooled down by now, as it was far too hot for me. I’m impressed that you are able to work out during that kind of weather! Well done! Your cauliflower curry dish looks delicious, I might very well give it a go. Your new pre-loved dress is gorgeous and perfect for a mosquito filled Summer evening. That last photo of your cat made me smile. Hope you’re having another great week, Nancy! xxx

My favourite blogger friends are the ones who share their real lives, not just the sunshine and roses. Sharing ourselves is a gift of friendship.
You look wonderful in all these outfits (hee, Bjorn Borg), Nancy, and well done on keeping up with your workouts during a heat wave! I would back out, for sure, ha ha.
Thank you so much for your kind comments on my friend’s death. Hugs to you, we cry together.

The dress you wore for your dinner “out” is so pretty! I like the uneven bottom, too. Your meal looks really good, I’m going to check out corn cookies–I haven’t heard of them. So glad you got a new wheelchair, that’s got to be a big help. Hugs!
