I’ve always loved it. Tweed! Especially tweed pencil skirts and jackets. I can still remember that as a 10 year old girl I had a very nice pair of green tweed trousers. My mother had made it because she made most of the clothes for my sister and myself. I loved those trousers. All those other little colors that were in the tweed seemed fascinating to me. Later as my love for England grew, that is from the age of fourteen, I associated tweed with the English countryside and of course I couldn’t help but love it.
Does only Zara have tweed pencil skirts?
Why then can I hardly ever find anything tweed? I’ve never seen anything beautiful tweed on second-hand sites and you can’t find much of it online either. So when I saw this tweed pencil skirt I had to have it of course, you do understand that, right? By the way, this is the second tweed pencil skirt I found at Zara’s. Although of course it is a completely different tweed than my favorite English country tweed.
When I’m back in England I’ll be really searching for a good tweed jacket there. And that will happen! Gerben and I have said to each other that whatever happens, we are going to England this year. I even received an email from the owners of the B&B we have been going to in Rye in recent years. But until then, I’ll stick with the more commercial tweed. Also good because I really like this skirt. Those buttons too! What a wonderful detail.
Of course I style my tweed pencil skirt with black.
I don’t think this pencil tweed skirt can be styled with anything other than black. But that’s really my personal opinion because I do understand that every color fits well with this pencil skirt. But for me it’s only black. (well perhaps a white tee and white sneakers will do the trick too) So that the skirt and also the buttons properly are in the spotlight. And of course I just love a black outfit. I also had to buy a size bigger for this skirt. Well, we are used to that from Zara by now.
I’m curious if you like tweed because I don’t see it much on Instagram and other bloggers either. Do you ever wear it?
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

Nancy, I am exactly like you!! I ADORE tweed! if I see it in a shop, I’ll always gravitate towards it. I think I remember you commenting on my post when I wore my favourite tweed jacket…which I bought from Sainsbury’s Supermarket (I think) in England. If only I’d known about your obsession then, I could have bought one for you too!
Speaking of England, Michael and I are travelling there tomorrow (by car) to visit my MIL who has been in hospital for weeks now. It was all organised last minute, but I’m starting to get very excited, especially now that everything is open again WOOP WOOP!!!
Anyway, I forgot to say that I love your skirt—good old Zara, eh? I actually bought my tweed trousers there in the sale a few weeks ago. They cost me 10 euros!!!! You look fabulous, and I love that your outfit is all black.
Big hugs

Oh Suzy how exiting! By car? Where are you taking the ferry then?We are planning to go by the end of March and I can hardly wait!! I do hope you share on IG about the trip!
I have a tweed dress that I thrifted but that is it. It is not my favorite fabric but I do like it for winter. I love the button details on this one and what about a brown and black outfit?

Black and brown sounds very good to me, I hope you like to show that tweed dress on the blog!
Oh yes, tweed is gorgeous, and you can often find it used by those quite high-end brands like Hush, Poetry, Thought and so on. The best tweed of course is Scottish and actually you can often find tweed jackets in vintage boutiques and if you’re very lucky in a charity shop. Happy hunting Nancy!
Love the skirt but a good Harris Tweed would top that material – it is the best. Have a lovely weekend x

Now I learnt some more about tweed! Thanks Penny, I am sure I will stroll the streets of Lewes on a hunt for tweed soon!
Beautiful skirt on you, Nancy-I love the nubby texture and the perfect pencil shape! I am a fan of tweed also, and have a few pieces in my closet. You inspire me to get out my pink and white tweed jacket to wear this spring! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for sharing and the link up!

The pencil skirt is a great look on you! I think tweed is a timeless and elegant fabric. Also – the boots finish off the outfit nicely. (Pinned and Tweeted). Thanks for hosting the link-up.

Beautiful outfit Nancy! I love this tweed skirt. I’m kind of finicky about my tweeds, because so many are in the brown ranges, and I’m super finicky about browns. But I do love some of them.
You’re right, this tweed skirt would go with just about any other color, but I love the way you’ve styled it here.

I know what you mean with brown, to me it has to be a real warm shade of green.
wonderful teweed
Oh yes, I do love tweed, and yes, it makes me think of England too! I’ve got quite a bit of tweed in my wardrobe and, believe it or not, I have actually bought a pair of green tweed trousers in a charity shop last week! They do need shortening though, so it’ll take a while until they make it to the blog!
I’m loving the skirt and the way you have styled it. Can’t believe it’s Zara …
I’m keeping my fingers crossed we can both go to the UK this year. After meeting a blogging friend from the UK who visited Antwerp last week, I am determined we go! xxx

Maybe? We are planning for the end of March! Haha, I need to be in the UK!!
I love the skirt Nancy, best bit is the length, it’s very flattering. Have a super weekend. Jacqui x
Author
Thanks Jacqui! Indeed, the lenght is great!
That is a fabulous outfit! I too was thinking it would look good with a white tee too but those are probably the only two colors I would pair it with too.
Author
Yes me too, no colors on this one!
I love that skirt, Nancy! It looks great how you styled it, but I’d totally try it with a pop of red or pink too!

I’m a big fan of tweed, and most of my pieces are vintage and/or thrifted/bought second-hand. I really do think you could wear other colours than white or black with this pretty skirt, Nancy! Red would be the easy classic, but a rich camel or caramel would look amazing too (and still neutral – see how I resist saying bright colours for you?).
Thank you for the link party!

Haha, very well Sheila! You know I like my black outfits!
I still have quite a bit tweed, and I should pull it out before it gets too hot.
Love this Nancy,

You look so happy and gorgeous in this outfit, Nancy! I can tell you feel beautiful in it. I have a lovely tweed jacket from J Jill done in purples, pinks, and oranges. I think that’s the fun of tweed…all of the different colors!

Nancy, it is a gorgeous skirt and it looks amazing on you! I love the way you have styled it with lighter colored boots and a leather jacket. Very cool! I also have a special place in my heart for tweed but it is really difficult to find. I think I have a few tweed blazers that were preloved and one dress that I purchased on some crazy super cheap clearance sale. I apologize for my delay in commenting! I am still catching up after my trip!
