I love the classic tartan. Always have loved it. And preferably the red version. Although I also really appreciate the blue-green for a kind of feminine kilt-like skirt, complete with safety pin of course. Back in the day, here we go again, when I was about 16, tartan was of course completely punk. Awesome! Vivienne Westwood, Sex Pistols, Siouxie, black clothes. I loved it, and I still do. How weird is it that I don’t have any classic red tartan hanging in my closet? Very weird!
Love for classic tartan.
I had these trousers a few years ago, great, but I tore them out. Luckely it happened at home! In my opinion there is not much choice in classic tartan. For trendy clothes then.( and I don’t mean those schoolgirl very short pleated skirts…) But this skirt comes a bit close to tartan doesn’t it. And what do I absolutely love about it? Can you guess? Do you know me that well? The gold buttons! I fall hard for those kinds of golden details.
The only way to style this red (almost) classic tartan skirt!
I am wearing this fabulous skirt, which is also very nice to wear, with black and gold! In my head that is the only way of how to wear the classic tartan skirt. Now the skirt really stands out and the black boots and sweater are on the background. A lovely basic sweater from Zara with gold colored buttons on the sleeve. Zara has these sweaters in all kinds of colors every autumn season. I can recommend them. Good quality, good price, very stretchy.
And the boots are from last year but I really wear them a lot. I also absolutely love the gold chain on the boots. I also have gorgeous biker boots with lots of golden accents, but they are so old, they are really getting a bit worn out now. Which is such a pitty cause they are so fabulous. As accessories I kept it pretty simple. It quickly becomes too much for me. So just my watch and my favorite earrings. Pretty happy with my version of the classic tartan!
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

I love tartan too, and now that you’ve mentioned it, I haven’t got anything of the red variety in my wardrobe either!
I’m actually loving your actually not tartan skirt. I’d picked it up too. And you styled it perfectly with black and gold too. A fabulous outfit Nancy! xxx

Thank you very much Ann! It surprises me that you don’t have something red tartan. Perhaps that now it is in your head you come across it during lunchtime!

Nancy,
This is a great classic ensemble and you look fabulous. I especially like the gold accents in the buttons as well as the detail on your footwear. And who doesn’t adore a tartan?

I love this not so classic tartan on you! I’m a sucker for it but don’t own any of it in my wardrobe. The gold accents really kick it up a notch. You can’t go wrong with a black turtleneck either. Now I need some photos of you in your punk phase!
Author
I don’t have any photos at all of when I was a kid and a young girl. Perhaps I can find a school photo! I will look for it.
Red and black were just made to go together…especially in a tartan! You look stunning in black…I can see why it’s one of your favorite colors! Those boots are such fun, too!

Thank you very much!
I really like the cut of this skirt. I haven’t worn my skirts much this fall and need to pick a few out to style outfits around. I love skirts with boots.

Yes me too and dresses with boots! Thanks Mireille.
Ooh, I actually made it! I had to link up as I wore triple plaid today! You and I are on the same wavelength, Nancy. I LOVE this skirt – it is so gorgeous. You could also do this with a punk tee and a moto jacket, or even a white shirt with a tie and a boxy blazer with the sleeves rolled up.
Take your motorcycle boots to a cobbler and have them reconditioned. They can clean them up and make them look like new! They sound too fabulous – if they are good quality, it will help them last longer.
Rock and roll – I would wear this whole outfit.

Haha, what a lovely enthousiastic comment! Yes I can wear it with my Siouxie tee. A white shirt and tie sounds great too! Yes I have to repair them because I have never seen any better!
Hi Nancy! I love your confidence in each of your photos! I am the biggest introvert ever…so I admire people that look so natural, confident and gorgeous in every photos!
Wish you a great month of December!
Author
Oh that is so very kind of you. And I am not even that confident! And I never ever like myself in the photos! There is always something wrong. But I just enjoy every minute of my life! Thank you so much!
