This months theme is chosen by me and is called: My music icon! Can you guess who mine is?
Welcome to the monthly edition of Match made in Seven! We are a international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie. And then we style an outfit based on that theme. It’s fun to collaborate with other fashion bloggers! Don’t forget to visit my blogger friends and see how they interpreted the theme of this month!
My music icon for 40 years!
Those of you who know me a little bit by now, and I am a, what you see is what you get person, know that I am a big fan of The Cure. We have seen them several times, this year on Pinkpop. I have been a fan since I first heard A Forrest on the radio when I was fourteen. I was immediately taken by that song. For me that is still the most beautiful song ever, of all bands! When I see them perform live, I enjoy them with goose bumps on my arm for 3 hours.
So I wanted to do this theme, My Music Icon, for Match Made in Seven, so that I could imitate Robert Smith! Not because I really like his looks, okay the black is okay of course, but because he is my ultimate music icon! I hope I can see them perform live a few times more, because well they also get older don’t they!
I am really looking forward to see what my fashion blogger friends have made of this theme and what their icon is. Please also visit their fabulous blogs!

Would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!
I had to go listen to A Forest on YouTube, I’d never heard it before. In fact, scrolling down a list of “The Cure’s Greatest Hits,” I was surprised by how long they were recording and how many songs I didn’t recognize. I thought they were just like early-mid 80s, you learn something new every day!
You look great – you could easily wear that outfit just as a normal look!
I had a feeling you would choose Robert Smith! Very cool outfit! I had a hard time choosing mine, but it all fell into place at the last minute!
Thanks Emma! I totally forgot about Joan Jett! But you did a perfect job!
Wow, Nancy, you made us all work pretty hard on this one! I honestly thought there would be a couple Country Western icons but no way! Here you are channeling an alternative rocker!! I love it! Your outfit is perfect, too! Well done challenge, my friend!
And well done to you with your perfect Olivia imitation!
Total rock n’ roll badass-ery my friend! You look fabulous!
I love “A Forest” – my first exposure to the Cure was in the early 80s, when “Standing on the Beach” came out.
Your hair is perfect for Robert Smith, Nancy! Love it! Rock on, girlfriend!
Ah yes, That album was fantastic!
Loving your Robert Smith tribute! The black outfit looks very striking and trendy. Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!
Sorry Nancy, I have never heard of this group but you absolutely rock this look. Love every element of it
Now I’m going to have to look him up….I’m such a novice when it comes to music!!
Great look Nancy!!
Great job!!! Very cool outfit Nancy! I love The Cure!
Great! Thanks Kellyann!
You look very cool in this black look 🙂
I really like the proportions you’ve put together here, Nancy, and would like to emulate this look using olive green… Have fun going to the concerts!
It could only have been Robert Smith, it was the hair which gave it away 😉 I fell in love with The Cure’s first album, which I played on repeat on my old cassette player. But The Forest must be my favourite too, such a hauntingly beautiful song! xxx
Haha, yes! My favorite albums are Seventeen Seconds and Faith! Sometimes I can’t even listen to their songs as they make me so emotional!
I don’t know The Cure but I do know that you look amazing in this all-black outfit! Super cool, Nancy! I need to look up that song.
Love this look, you look amazing in black! Have a great week.
Love this post! You nailed the Cure with this look. Their music brings back so many memories.
You suit black Nancy, perhaps it’s your wild hair! 🙂
Yes, imitating my music icon!
What a fun theme and you nailed the look! I think you look wonderful in this monochromatic outfit! 🙂
Hope that you are having a great week 🙂
Looking so cool in this look! I love it! 🙂
Those boots are just fab and I love this entire outfit and tribute to The Cure!
Thanks Carrie! The boots are about 7 years old and I styled live them and wear them a lot under black dresses!
That’s a great Robert Smith impression. I loved (love) The Cure. They were one of my ALL TIME favorite bands. My daughter Lauren listens to them now and I’m loving it.
That is fantastic that is goed on a generation. We see a lot of fathers with sons during concerts!
Yess!! To The Cure!! One of my all-time favourite bands!! Their sound just never seems to date! Thank you for sharing and I love your outfit although I do prefer colour … lol
How lovely that you like them too! Thanks Donna!
When you would wear a leather mini skirt and a mustache I would know it’s Freddy Mercury. LOL.
Ha ha ha, that would be an idea!
Nancy, I absolutely love, love, love your Cure inspired look! You made your hair all Robert Smith messy, too! So fun. You look crazy cool, my friend!
Ha ha thanks Shelbee!
It’s not just the black clothes Nancy, but your hair and pose are spot on too. I love this tribute of yours and wish you lots of occasions to listen to your favourite band. Love, Lieske
Thank you very much dear Lieske!
I have never heard of that band, but I love your edgy look. Amazing!
I love so much music, it would be tough to choose! I love that you are a fan of The Cure and this outfit is sweet! I sometimes wish I could wear all black and it wouldnt totally wash me away! I love this outfit from the boots to the jacket, music chic!
Thank you very much Jess! I know how much you love music!
What a great theme! And you all did a wonderful job with it! You are rocking this look!
Great job, Nancy! I must say that I have never heard of “The Cure” so I was interested in reading your post. It was a fun theme this month!
