And can I tell you about winter layers! Let me tell you that I always, and I say always, wear in winter as a basic, a camisolle and a tee with long sleeves. Then a top, sweater or blouse. If I am wearing a sweater it stays with that, but is it a top or blouse then I wear a cardigan or a blazer over it. Do I know the concept of winter layering or what!
Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!
WHAT IS THE GOOD BUY/GOOD-BYE BOOK ABOUT?
It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!
So lets start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Winter Layers!
First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
I love layering for warmth and extra interest. I recently picked up this fabulous velvet kimono at Target and layered it over a thrifted ZARA black bodycon dress for a sassy winter look. Both were really Good Buys!
Next is Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style
Here’s my version of layering. I never thought I’d be wearing cropped sweaters, but it’s perfect to add some layers to a sleeveless dress.
Joanne of Slices of Life
I honestly could have attached any photo of any outfit I have worn the past few months as I am all about the winter layers. I ordered some new turtlenecks from LL Bean and I just love how nice and thick they are. They make a perfect base layer under sweaters. The white one paired perfectly with my pink and gray sweater for Valentine’s day.
Michelle of My Bijou Life
This puffer vest is amazingly warm. I love it! Definitely a good buy.

I’m sending you photos of a piece of clothing I want to say goodbye to. It’s about a coat I bought 10 years ago. I want to sort it out, but keep putting it off and wearing it one last time…
Jacqui of Mummabstylish
Love the jumper and jacket combo – my scarf adds colour and a bit of warmth.
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey
Fall/winter are always my favorite seasons, because they allow me to put together more interesting outfits. I’ve recently discovered the layering power of the waistcoat/vest, so I’m sending you two outfits featuring my favorite waistcoat and sweater vest.
Rena of Fine Whatever
Winter layers for a SoCal gal has an entirely different look than for those living in chillier climates. While I do layer for warmth, most of the items can be worn year-round because they are lightweight. In this look, I started with the pants and cardigan as I like the combo of olive and teal, and then went on to add in more hues until I’d achieve what I call my Kaleidoscope of Colors.
And now my Winter Layers.
Layering is a necessity for me as I am always cold. Here I am wearing 5 layers, yes 5! A camisole and a basic long sleeved tee (my everyday wear in winter as a starter), then a blouse, a camisole for some interest, and a blazer! 5 Layers! All Good Buys even as the boots and the skirt!
MARCH’S THEME WILL BE: PERFECTLY PERIWINKLE (OR ANYTHING PURPLE!)
And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!
Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com
By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for next month!
