Style resolutions? I don’t actually have them. I wear what I feel like wearing on that day. Don’t think I have a signature style, either. One day I want colorful and the other day black. One day I want sneakers and trousers and the other a pencil skirt with boots. I am such a woman with whom it makes no sense to prepare a set of clothes for the next day in the evening. I did that once when I was still working.
Match Made in Seven
Welcome to the monthly edition of Match made in Seven! We are a international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie. And then we style an outfit based on that theme. It’s fun to collaborate with other fashion bloggers!
Have you got style resolutions?
It seemed useful to me not to immediately think about your outfit in the morning. Not that it made much sense. Because when I came to work, I could change clothes again into clothes that we sold in the store. So I might as well had gone to work in my sweatpants every day. Not! Of course not. I also want to look nice on the bus and on the street.
I have no style…..
Anyway, then I woke up and looked at the set that was ready styled and all and thought: No, I don’t feel like wearing it. I am such a woman. That is why I do not have style resolutions. What do I show you today? Outfits that are out of my comfort zone (there you have that word again). Where I just wanted to experiment. Not something I would wear every day.
I tried black and white again! I don’t like to wear black and white together. But it depends on what you wear of course because I love this outfit. I didn’t like this style because it makes me feel like I am the waitress.
Wearing jeans. Which I do about once a year. This photo is taken about 5 years ago when I wanted to try a dress over jeans. So that you don’t see a lot of the jeans. I liked it.
Here I was wearing a blouse under a sweater. I almost never wear blouses. And I tried to belt a sweater which I really like to do now. I still don’t wear a lot of blouses and certainly not under a sweater.
Taking jeans a step further by wearing a denim dress over jeans. I like to wear dresses over trousers, but denim on denim was a bit to much for me.
First steps in wearing a lot of colors and prints a few years ago. I liked it and after this outfit I started to wear mixed prints and totally loving it!
Wearing tights in sandals which I love to wear! I just like how it looks like! While I thought it was absolutely hideous 30 years ago!
And what are you Style Resolutions, if you have them?
Don’t forget to visit my blogger friends and see how they interpreted the theme of this month!

I understand your way of thinking Nancy. I’m a bit like that too. The outfit has to fit my mood! xx

Exactly Laurie!
Well, that’s your style then, Nancy – ECLECTIC! 🙂

No I don’t think so. It’s more, simple!
Nancy I love your out of comfortzone styles. Edgy and stylish 🙂

Thank you so much Tina! Enjoy your day!
If I had a style resolution it would be to think things through better before buying them. Like you I think I lack a signature style and I’m okay with that – I call it eclectic!

Yes I see that word everywhere. Had to Google it though.
Having pictures of our outfits really helps us figure out what we like and don’t like and what we might want to repeat. Looking at my months outfits helps me create new looks and I am one of those people who typically does plan out some outfits ahead of time. I do like to get inspiration from others so that does sometimes change my plans. Its all about flexibility.

Yes and how! Haha, I love that!
Nancy, I love your take on this month’s theme! I, too, am kind of eclectic. I love color but then I get tired of that and switch to neutrals. I’m at the phase of experimenting with new things and wearing more traditional looks that I still love. You always make me laugh with your honesty about not wearing jeans, blouses, etc.!1 LOL!

Haha. But that is fun isn’t it, to just wear what you feel like wearing!
You’re so right in that you have to be in a certain mood for an outfit. Due to lack of time, I often prepare a couple of weekday outfits during the weekend, but I alwqys make sure to have several options. And then it still happens sometimes that I’m wearing something else altogether. I think that fashion is ever evolving and so are our tastes. I’m sure I’m wearing things now which I wouldn’t have dreamed of wearing ten, twenty years ago. I also find I get bolder with age, in that I do not much care anymore what other people think. There’s no longer the peer pressure from my younger days. I love how you are prepared to go out of your comfort zone. Love the black and pink opaques with sandals look! xxx

I have exactly the same, getting bolder and not carring what other people think! That’s the best thing of getting older!
It’s good to experiment and try different styles. I’m like you – I dress according to my mood rather than having a set style. I love the photo of you pulling the bin!

Haha, I wasn’t really pulling it because all the cat litter goes in it! And with 2 big cats we have a lot of it! That bin always weights a ton!
I don’t really have a set style either, Nancy, and I think that is just fine. I have very eclectic taste when it comes to clothes, and what I wear very much reflects my mood.

Isn’t that the best way to wear clothes Sheila! I think so!
So interesting to know you wear anything you fancy, why not, that’s the way to enjoy life to the full. I like the pink and black combination, that is so cool.

Thanks, yes those colors work very well!
It’s fun to see you have tried to challenge yourself to try different things! I think fashion is all about experimenting. Some of my outfits I’d never wear again, but at least I gave them a try! 🙂
I always plan my outfit the night before too, it’s the only way to ensure I get out the door on time in the mornings – I have to organise what the boys are wearing in advance too! 🙂
Hope that you are having a great week 🙂
Author
Haha, yes you are way to busy to also think about a outfit in the morning! Happy weekend love!
I love your style because it shows your personality! Such a nice roundup!

Thank you very much Gemma!
What a cute idea for a post nancy. And that picture of you pulling the trash can is priceless!
Author
Haha, wasn’t really pulling it! Lol!
You’re exactly right – the mood does determine the style. As does the occasion. I can always plan ahead what I’m going to wear for something. Do you know how many times that’s actually worked for me? Pretty much zero. I always end up changing something or everything about it so everything up to that point was a waste of time :/ I loved seeing your outfit choices over the year and seeing how you’ve evolved. I really need to do that. I’m a pretty classic dresser and I think I need to branch out and get a little more daring. I love the look of the tights and the open-toed shoes!

Well, I think you should wear what you like and feel comfortable in! But I agree on planning outfits, does not work at all!
I’m the opposite of you, I need to wear more dresses and skirts instead of jeans. Love the dress over the denim and I love belting a sweater! It is fun to go outside our comfort ‘box’ sometimes!

Yes it is! I love to try ,, strange,, items together!
I don’t have a signature style either, unless you consider jeans and a t-shirt a style. lol I love the outfit on you in the third picture. Very classy!
Author
Of course that is a style! Thanks Marti!
I certainly think you are confident in your style and it suits you so well you certainly don’t need any resolutions.
I adore that pic of you with a watering can. Very fun.

Thanks Anna!
I like your style, Nancy, and might try trousers under dresses. When I was still teaching school I would plan my outfit out every night before bedtime so I would be ready to move quickly in the morning. I can’t imagine waiting until the mornings. Now, in retirement, I can take my time and match my daily mood more!
Author
Haha, and isn’t that so much better Debbie! Thanks, have a great weekend!
This is so great, Nancy! Another thing you and I have in common. I get dressed every day depending on my mood. I cannot pick an outfit the night before because I will always change my mind by morning. This is why packing for traveling is such a nightmare for me. I love all of your “out of your comfort zone” looks here! And I am a huge fan of socks or tights with open toed shoes although I get criticized often for it in real life. But that doesn’t stop me from wearing what I love!

I think it’s very stylish to wear tights in open toe shoes, but people don’t gett it! haha, What do they know! Yes packing for a holiday is horror! I always pack way to much because I need to have a choice!
I love all of these outfits, Nancy! What a fun exercise – trying outfits outside of your comfort zone. Have any ever moved into your comfort zone?
