What better theme for the coming month as Sparkly! We are all waiting in suspense if we can celebrate Christmas with family and friends. And what better way to celebrate that 2020 is almost gone, then wearing sparkly clothing!
Welcome to The Thrifty Six. We are a group of international fashion influencers who meet once a month in our little space on the internet to share our thrifty outfits. On the third Monday of every month, we will all share an outfit based on a theme that features pre loved wardrobe pieces. Shopping and reselling pre loved clothing is so much better for the environment and you can find some of the best fashions in thrift or charity shops. The Thrifty Six are here to inspire you to shop second hand.
I ain’t that Sparkly!
When I read the theme, I immediately thought of a beautiful glitter sweater with balloon sleeves in a beautiful shade of blue. Until I realized that The Thrifty Six is of course about pre-loved clothes. Oops, do I have a sparkly pre-loved item? Of course I do, although I have to say that I don’t often wear glitter etc. But of course this metallic skirt is also Sparkly! I love this skirt. I already showed it in the summer. And I saw a fabulous sequin blouse that I just know I have to order! Let’s take a quick look at what my dear fellow thrifty friends are wearing!
The thrifty Six are sparkling!
Emma of Style Splash
When I found out the theme for this month’s Thrifty Six collab was sparkle I knew I had to wear this dress. It is the perfect antidote to the long, dark evenings and depressing news we’re bombarded with daily. When I bought it on eBay I had absolutely no idea when or where I would get to wear it, but I’m not always a practical shopper. Sometimes it’s good to let the heart rule the head!
Grace of Graceful Rags
I instantly knew I wanted to style this sparkly rust-colored sweater for this month’s collab! Unfortunately, it was raining and very cold on photoshoot day, so I had to adjust my outfit to add a lil’ extra warmth. You can’t really tell in these pics, but I swear the sweater is sparkly! It has the prettiest gold threads throughout—a perfect outfit for Thanksgiving.

Sparkles in the darkness…
I wanted to truly capture the warm iridescent glow of this rose gold sequin dress. It comes to life when darkness falls!
A dress for underground nightclubs, louche parties and minor festive misdemeanours…
I stood in blackness throwing my body into sculptural shapes to twist and contort the glistening sequins.
I let the flash of the camera work its magic to reveal the resplendent lustre for all to see…
Lucy of Confessions of a Montreal Styling Diva
So, I have this darling, colorful Dimora dress that I absolutely love, but on its own…it truly makes me look drabby and matronly ?. But the colours are just too good and I really wanna wear it! So, here comes a bustier to change it all up while adding a good dose of pizzazz! I jumped for joy when I thrifted this one a few years back. I collect great accessories, so I was thrilled with this sequin darling. I do classify bustiers as accessories, as I rarely, if ever wear, them on their own. They are just the right thing to enhance any outfit. Take a look at how I styled up this one and tell me this outfit doesn’t make for great conversation??
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
When Jane chose sparkles as the theme this month, I used it as an opportunity to use my limited time 50% off coupon at my local Thrifty Shopper. That is where I found most of this outfit! The sequined chambray jacket might be my favorite thrifted item ever. I love the style, the color, and the fun sparkles! The little black skirt and my graphic tee shirt are both bedazzled with lots of rhinestone sparkles as well. The jacket and tee shirt were both marked $4.99 and the skirt was marked $5.99. With my coupon, I paid $8 for all three pieces! My beaded bag was also a thrift shop find from Salvation Army and I paid $3 for it. Since we were going sparkly, I had to wear sparkle footwear as well. These gray shimmery booties are from Torrid a few years ago. And my Happiness Boutique Necklace and Earrings were the perfect accessories to showcase an outfit that’s all about the sparkle!
Thanks ladies!
This was yet another fun theme to work with! Hope you enjoyed our sparkles and that we could inspire you to shop pre loved!

I’m glad you were able to use this skirt, it is pretty and sparkly! That would be a challenge for me, I have sequins but nothing pre-owned. You all did a great job!

I am loving your sparkle skirt, my friend! I have a similar one (not thrifted) that I really need to get out and wear soon! I do want to see your sparkly sweater as well even though it isn’t preloved!

What a gorgeous parade of sparkle to cheer me up on this grey and damp day! Your sparkly skirt is gorgeous and not too “out there” to wear on an ordinary day, as it can either be dressed up or down. Love the balloon sleeved jumper you teamed it with, and your “chained” ankle boots are gorgeous too! xxx

Oh I am so in love with those boots! I love a golden touch on bags shoes and belts!
Fabulous skirt Nancy! I love the contrast with the black top and tights!

Yes I liked that too and it was super comfortable!
Hooray for sparkly clothes! I love Emma’s and Jane’s dresses, and Lucy’s bustier (I also have a bustier that I consider an accessory!). I’ll be wearing tons of sparkly clothes in the coming months to force myself out of this grey winter – thanks so much to everyone for the inspiration!

Thanks Jacqui!
What a great prompt!! Especially with the holidays around the corner. Last year I bought several bits of sparkle and never got to wear them because life went nuts. Not sure this year has been any better but going to put on my sparkles and wear them at home if nothing else.
Love all the pretty pieces. You gals are so creative in the way you style your clothes. Wish I could think out of the box.

Oh you can Leslie. Just try things on that you like and see in the mirror how it works for you. By the way, you should only have items in the closet that you like!
