I feel a bit like Laura Ingalls 2.2 in this dress, but I like it anyway. And besides that, I always liked the dresses from little house on the prairie. Liked the series too actually, but that’s because I really liked Dad Ingalls, lol. Well, let’s stick to dress. Do I feel a generation gap here…..
Loving a bit of ,,frumpyness,,
I don’t actually have this color in my closet at all, except for this top. I like rust, it is a beautiful warm color. But how was I going to wear it. I like frumpy items. Which I then wear my way in the hope that the ,,frumpyness,, has gone. Anyway, you always look at yourself completely differently than others do. I always hope I look a little classy, classic, cool. Hey that’s funny! My style is CCC! Hey hey, I finally have a style. Gosh where am I going with this post!
Laura Ingalls 2.2
I have hardly worn this blazer yet and it really is such a nice one. It is very dark green, with three-quarter sleeves. I like that because I always want to show a bit of sleeve underneath a blazer or cardigan. It’s a pretty long blazer, which I like on dresses. These boots are one of my favorites, wore them with a grey outfit here.
I wear green earrings and a chunky necklace. Black also looks great with this dress and gray too! Very surprising, because I didn’t even think of grey at first. The dress is pre loved, new, with Zara tags on it! I’m definitely going to wear this one a lot.
I would love it if you would share your outfits with #nancysfashionstyle and tag @nancysstyle! Thanks!

That rust dress is beautiful on you! I really like that blazer with it and it looks great with the statement necklace
Thanks for the link up 🙂
Hope that you are having a good week! Starting to get some autumn weather here at last – nice and cool in the mornings and evenings.

Thank you very much Mica!
This is an interesting outfit with the contrast between the feminine, flouncy dress and the structured blazer. I like that chunky black necklace and the cognac boots. I was always so matchy-matchy with everything but have begun loosening up and enjoying that freedom. So nice that we can wear brown and black together. And silver and gold!! You look lovely. And Laura Ingalls Wilder would be honored.

Oh thank you, yes there are no rules. You have to wear what you feel great in!
Ahhh a prairie girl looking all gorgeous

Haha, thanks Andrea!
This dress is very pretty on you, Nancy. A lovely color and the design doesn’t that doesn’t look frumpy at all in my opinion. I like the 3/4 sleeves on your blazer. I’m not a fan of long sleeves inside the house. I always manage to get them wet working in the kitchen. LOL!
I was trying to decide whether or not to link up today, but I ultimately did. My post is mostly a philosophical rant. Apologies in advance.

I heard that style of dress being referred to as “cottage core” which sounds better than frumpy, no? Besides, how could you look frumpy? Even in a potato sack you would look fantastic because your best accessory, your personality.

Oh god, thanks Rena! That certainly puts a smile on my face! Cottage core sounds good!!
I don’t see any frump on this blog – ever! You do a great job styling your outfits Nancy, you know exactly what looks good on you! Great find on the Zara dress, love it when the tags are still on it!

Oh thank you so much, I am so glad to read that! Thanks Kellyann!
Love the color of that dress! I thought initially that the blazer was dark blue, obviously my old eyes, but that colorway would look equally good. You’re certainly no frump Nancy!

Thanks Pamela! It’s hard to see the right color as it is such a dark green.
So pretty! I love how styled this dress – and really I think the whole look is fab and not frumpy at all 😉

Thank you very much love!
I loved little house on the prarie! I don’t think this style of dress is frumpy Nancy. But I do think all the floral flouncy dresses that are so on trend have to be worn with caution at our age. I bought one and looked like a 60 year old Alice In Wonderland! The blazer however does make the dress more grown up. I really like it xx
Author
Haha, I know Laurie, I bought one too! I looked three times bigger!
Gorgeous dress! I love the colour and the shirred neckline. It looks fab with the dark green blazer, very classy! I thought it was navy when I saw it on Instagram – I don’t know whether to blame my eyes or the phone cover! Thanks for hosting, hope you have a great weekend!

Nancy, I love everything about this look and this post! I love Little House on the Prairie, too, and always liked their outfits. I am loving this prairie dress trend and have a few new ones myself. And ZARA! They keep sending overstock and damaged items in bulk to my local thrift store and I keep finding some of the cutest pieces. Yesterday I got a gorgeous black velvet tuxedo style blazer and a black ribbed maxi dress that is incredibly sexy! But they will probably have to wait until fall now to get styled. And this rust color is so pretty, too. I also just found a winter coat in this color at Target on clearance for just $12. So that’s mine now, too! Haha. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

I wore it! The black ZARA dress is the one I wore in yesterday’s rise of the flying phoenix post!

Little House On The Prairie dresses are definitely having their moment. I think I’m wearing one in my most recent post too. I love the color of yours and the unique way you styled it. And yes, I like the dad too!
Author
Haha, we all loved the dad! Going to take a look Amy!
I loved LHonTP and Michael Landon too! I didn’t realize wha a hunk Pa was until I was older. lol! That dress and blazer combo is stunning! Love the flowering tree behind you too!
Author
Haha, yes he was! Thanks Heather!
That dress is such a great color and not frumpiness. It is funny though because a lot of the dresses in stores here are very little house on the prairie but not in a good way. I used to love the show when I was younger.

It is now again here on the telly, only the title music alone is bringing back memories!
I love the Little House Series and always thought their parents were fantastic. I mostly identified with Laura though as she had an older sister and younger sibling just like I do… plus I often had a hard time keeping my anger and frustration in check.
Author
Haha yes me too! They were very polite!
Love the ruffle on this dress and that colour! You look great 🙂
Author
Thanks Lucy!
Rust is indeed a gorgeous colour, and it looks absolutely stunning on you. As does that dark green blazer. I’m hearing you on the three-quarter sleeves. I’m often pulling up the sleeves of cardigans or jackets just to offer a peek of the sleeves I’m wearing underneath. Nothing frumpy about this outfit at all, Nancy! xxx

Thank you very much Ann! Enjoy your weekend!
I love this dress and I was an avid LHOTP watcher. That necklace steals it for me though, it’s a real statement isn’t it. Thanks for hosting today. Jacqui x

You do not look like Laura Ingalls at all in this, Nancy! I adore that rust colour/burnt orange? And the ruffles are so awesome, but I like that you cut the sweetness with the harder lines of the jacket. Great styling here, m’dear!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend, and thank you so much for the link party!
