Shampoo! And the long search to find a perfect one

post about perfect shampoo

I finally found a perfect shampoo! A while ago I wrote a post about whether expensive creams are better for your skin. This as a result of my search for good skin care. Well I also went hunting for the perfect shampoo, if there is such a thing, and I finally found a shampoo that is good. Funny enough, I also found the shampoo in the middle segment, just like my facial care. Also for this post counts, that what I write is my own opinion. Since everyone’s hair is completely different, some other shampoo can work better for you.

I always bought my shampoo, and the whole entourage, at a drugstore. With the entire entourage I mean conditioner, mask and leave in creams. I have very thick, dry and curly hair. And wash my hair twice a week. I also need to have a lot of leave in cream, otherwise my hair is to fluffy.

What shampoo did I use

My hair stays normally good and supple for no more than two days, and after that it quickly becomes dirty from all the leave in creams that it contains. It also became increasingly drier. I started using Kerastase on the advice of my hairdresser. Before then I used the drugstore brands. I found the result after washing the first time already better, but after a few times I actually saw a minimal improvement. I also did not like the leave in cream, it seemed as if it made my hair even drier. Since this shampoo was quite pricey and did not give much result, I went looking for another shampoo.

Do I need a shampoo for curly or dry hair?

After a bit of the same search online as I did with my skin care, I came across a webshop where they sell hairdresser’s brands for a cheaper price than at the hairdresser’s.( this is not a sponsored post) Since you had so much choice, I called them to ask for advice. I got a really friendly girl on the phone who took the time to advise. She advised not to use shampoo for dry hair, but for curly hair. I immediately ordered the entire line of these. But what I find so strange about products for curly hair is that it doesn’t curl my hair! It just gets smoother. Also perhaps logical because the hair becomes softer and less dry causing the curls to sag and become more strokes. Very nice product, but to not have my curls….mmmm. So this shampoo line didn’t become it either. Although I have to say that my hair looked much better. With this line I had a leave in spray and that is not really my thing either. I’d rather have a cream.

Happy with hair care products

So I called that shop again and again I got a very friendly employee on the phone. And again I took the whole line but now from a shampoo for dry hair. And this is perfect for me. My hair becomes soft, is not so dry anymore, curls well and I only have to wash it three times every two weeks. It is so nice to have a shampoo that works well for you because if your hair is not looking good, you can still have such a great outfit but you do not feel confidant. So even for your shampoo it pays to spend some time looking up what you want from a shampoo. And maybe you should try two or three times before you get the right one. But I am finally happy with my shampoo again. Of course it is so that, just like your skin, your hair changes as you get older. Therefore I think it’s wise to change products every few years. As long as it works for you it’s okay. But when you start to feel that it is not doing what it should be doing, it’s time for a change.

Yes and I read a lot about not washing your curly hair, only use conditioner. I am going to try that, in a week without outdoor obligations!

I started buying more expensive shampoo and conditioner when I started having highlights – they do protect the colour from going off and keep it in better condition. It’s great when you find a brand that works for you, as you did. Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!

Yes it is very important because we all hate it if our hair doesn’t look good!

I can so relate to your hunt. I tried so many shampoos and always got scalp irritations.

I need to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner for blond hair. It always feels great when I come out of the hairdressers but I can never get it feeling that soft when I was it. These look great products.

Thanks so much for sharing your post with us at Creative Mondays a few week’s ago. Have a lovely Sunday and I hope you can join us tomorrow 🙂
