I’ll tell you why I don’t love to wear white clothing. You would think that I love to wear anything that has to do with dresses, skirts and all, but no! I don’t love to wear white clothing.
When we had Summer Whites on the Stylish Monday theme, I really had to delve into the photo archives to find something white. I have one white dress and that’s it. No white jeans, no white skirts. That one white dress is worn once, and I have a white blouse that I never wear. While my American fellow bloggers are crazy about white jeans, and wear the most beautiful white embroidered dresses, I don’t.
What do I have against white clothing?
I never mess with my food, so that’s not it. I usually like it on others, so why doesn’t white clothing make me feel good. Maybe because I wore black clothes for a very large part of my life. And not because it was easy or slimming or whatever nonsense. No I found and still find it very beautiful. So maybe the contrast from black to white is too big. Or does it make me feel so innocent, so sweet, which I am NOT! Or…..does it remind me of when I was 18, and wore white trousers and a long white blouse and over it a bright green coat with green sandals. A outfit that I loved. Until that day that I was in a drugstore to buy some make-up and a woman came up to me and asked me for information about a product. She thought I worked there in my white outfit! Could not have been a very fashionable woman! Anyway….
I just don’t like white clothes. But ……. you probably already felt that coming. I had seen this skirt on the internet for a while and every time it stayed in my head. And it makes a difference that it is not completely white of course. So I bought it anyway. I love pencil skirts and especially when they have some cool element. Like the belt. Fortunately, I always know immediately how I want to wear something. I immediately see it before me, that makes a difference. Otherwise you have to buy sets! You know, you bought something and then you come home and find that you have got nothing to wear with what you bought! Not that it happens to me often, haha, plenty to choose from!
So now I do love to wear white clothing!
So with nice earthy colors I wear this white skirt, which is actually not white but off white. It’s high waisted which I love! A lovely off shoulder olive green top. I don’t like it to much off shoulder. Gold colored jewelry, leaf earrings and a leaf necklace, wooden bracelets and tan sandals. I think this is a relaxed, stylish, elegant summer look.
Would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!
I absolutely love how you styled this skirt! I have the same one, and am definitely going to keep this for outfit inspiration. =)
I hope you are having a great week so far!
Oh really! How fun! Now I am curious about how you wear it!
Funny story about the store Nancy. I can imagine your embarrassment, especially at that young age.
I love your skirt. That high waist is fabulous and makes your legs look very, very long. Maybe I should invest in a skirt like that myself. I can use some extra centimetres…Love, Lieske
You can wear it shorter too! Thanks Lieske!
You look very chic in this outfit, Nancy! I love the skirt paired with the off-shoulder top! I love to wear white especially in summer.
I’m not very good with white either. I’m too clumsy haha. Love this outfit on you though!
Haha, and you have kids!
Well if anything will change your mind about white it would be that skirt! It is super amazing on you Nancy! YOU have such a terrific figure and this skirt is divine!
Thank you very much Kellyann!
I adore this skirt and the top is perfect with it! I love white clothes but I always get a stain no matter how hard I try to keep clean. Lol!
Haha, thats awfull! I try not to mess with my food!
That is such a stunning white skirt and I can see why you had to have it! It’s so nice with the olive top 🙂
I like white clothes but don’t wear them often as with two little ones and being clumsy myself it’s not easy to keep it clean, haha!
Hope that your week is off to a good start 🙂
I can understand that! Thanks Mica!
You should wear white more often. You look fabulous in the skirt. Regards – Jill stylishatsixty
Thanks Jill, but I think I will stick with the skirt!
At least you’re open to trying it now, Nancy. Because this skirt is fabulous!!
Love it on you Nancy!
Perhaps it is your time now to wear it!
Haha, well, this skirt is more then enough for now!
That outfit is beautiful! I love the skirt and that olive top is gorgeous!!
Thanks Mireille, I love that top too!
I love that button skirt so much! You made it look so chic! I carry a tide pen with me whenever I’m wearing white!
Haha, yes you have to be carefull!
I’m not a fan of white clothing myself, but I gladly make an exception for that fabulous skirt! I remember having a white skirt with red stitching which I wore with a white top with a red collar when I was about 15. And then punk happened and I never wore white again. I do have a couple of white print dresses, though. And believe it or not, I bought a mostly white top in a charity shop while I was on holiday. So, never say never! I love how you combined your skirt with the olive top, which makes it less stark, if you know what I mean! xxx
Yes I know what you mean and I agree! It was totally forbidden in Punk years to wear white! Haha
That skirt is AMAZING on you, Nancy! I think it really depends on the white item for me; I like white denim and thicker fabrics, but I don’t like sheer or light fabrics in white. They look cheap to me. I think you made the right call in going for off-white – this skirt just has all the best details…although I’d give it an A+ if it had pockets, ha ha! Love the whole outfit – the skirt would look amazing with a cropped chunky sweater and boots for fall!
Yes I missed the pockets too!! Oh yes! I will certainly try that!
Wow this skirt is gorgeous. I love you wear white with oliv. You look amazing Nancy!
Such a cute combo you have here dear! Can”t go wrong with white skirt, and yours is super edgy.

I love all-white outfits: they always look stylish and luxurious, particularly in winter! I don’t seem to have much in white this summer though. Your skirt suits you perfectly Nancy and could be worn with so many colours. Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!
Thanks Gail! I remember I wore white in winter too!
I know you thought wearing white was more American than European but you look fantastic!
I love love love that high waisted skirt!
White is a classic style that never gets old to me and I’m so happy you’re loving it now!
I love this outfit, Nancy! No wonder you couldn’t get the skirt off your mind, it is so stylish! I don’t wear white either–everything on my blog is a version of off-white. The top is great, too!
Was für ein lässiges Outfit, steht dir wirklich unglaublich gut 🙂
Danke sehr Tamara!
I love white! I’m glad you love white now (or off-white) because this skirt is beautiful and I love how you’ve styled it!
Thank you very much!
That skirt looks fabulous on you, Nancy! But I do know what you mean about wearing white. I’ve got several white things in my wardrobe which I wear occasionally but usually, I’m just not in the mood for white!
I did laugh at your story in the drugstore!! You must have been mortified at that age LOL!!!
I was! Stupid woman! Haha, you said it right: not in the mood for white!!
My problem with white clothes is that it never stays white all day long. It is me, my child, or both, but at the end of the day, there are stains. But I love them nevertheless. You look with this cute white skirt is fantastic. Thank you for sharing your style with My Red Carpet. Have a great day, Nancy.
Love the white skirt, I really need one in my wardrobe cose I keep seeing them on other bloggrs. Jacqui
Haha, yes exactly, I had the same!
