Again a very relaxed week. A lot of rain and I think these times are harder when the sun doesn’t shine. No people to talk too, I am talking baby language all day to my cats. I did go to the gym on Tuesday and we are now with three. That is good, we can keep our distance and we all clean properly. And we have a lot to talk about!
A relaxed week, do we have other weeks then that?
- Bought a pair of pinstriped joggers. Had the same ones a few years ago.
- It was rainy and cold at the beginning of the week. So ankle boots and a cardigan added.
- Loved this outfit, you will see it soon.
Last week I told you, and showed you, our hedgehog. Well the third night that Gerben laid cat nibs for it, two young stone marters ate it!! They both picked a piece and ran away and then came back and took another and so on. Damn those marters. So we don’t feed anymore. And we don’t see the hedgehog either. I know that all baby animals are cute….except stone marters. Gerben spotted two tawny owls in our garden. They probably have youngsters, and in the evening they hunt for food and then we hear the young owls chirping.
Thursday evening I had a meeting, finally talking to a group of people! Lol. Never thought that I would like that so much. It was an exciting meeting because the councilor for social affairs had resigned. Our village has huge debts and in my view this is due to bad policy. Let’s not say more….
I love the weekends!
- No color stress for me.
- Took this secretly at the meeting, lol.
- I made pesto for the first time myself. So easy and so delicious!
On Friday it was time to have my nails done again. Love that. Red. I’ve actually had that for years. Occasionally a different color but usually red. We always start the weekend in the evening with something delicious to go with our coffee, usually a liqueur. Now I had brought some delicious chocolate things from the bakery. And we watched Poirot. Perfect evening to start the weekend of!
Saturday was wonderfully relaxed. Gerben usually works around the house and in the garden. I’m working out and then read something or a friend comes along. At noon we pretended to be in England by getting some fish & chips. Mm, it’s different in the Netherlands! Wished I could have some from Hastings!
- I said to Grben, just think that you hear the sea gulls and the sea.
- And we stayed in UK mode with a English breakfast on Sunday!
- Enjoying a Kriek in Arnhem
On Sunday we cycled to the city after working out to buy shorts and a jacket for Gerben. Are your men always so grumpy too when they go to buy clothes? Pff. And after that we went to our favorite terrace for the rest of the afternoon. Enjoyed a Kriek and a IPA. I really find it so relaxed to sit on a terrace and watch people. We hadn’t done that yet this year. When we got home we got a pizza. What a relaxed week it was.
Would really appreciate it if you would share my photos on Pinterest.
I would love it if you could follow me on Instagram!
It sounds like you had a good week, Nancy! Iām so glad! Cool that you got to get out some.

Yes that is great! Still a bit anxious and I find myself stepping back every time as other people don’t.
Hi Nancy, I had to google what is a Stone Marter, as I am originally from South africa and have never heard of such an animal. They look quite cute to me š They were also hungry LOL Lise

No they are not cute at all. They eat the wiring of cars and do a lot of damage to houses. And they have enough food around our house.
I agree, when the sun doesn’t shine and it rains for days on end, these days are so much harder. That pic you took at your meeting is stunning – you are so pretty Nancy. It sounds like you and Gerben had a great weekend!

Oh thank you Kellyann, that is very kind of you!
Looks like a lovely weekend full of food – well done!

Thanks, I love food!
Besides those damn marters (don’t know what they are) seems you had a good week especially going to get your nails done – and yes to fish & chips!
Author
Haha, a lot of you don’t know what they are. They are like rats, but scarier, bigger, aggresive.
‘baby talk’ with your cats—i love this!

Haha, I didn’t tell Gerben we would go and have a beer! Should have done that!
It was so great you got out for a great adventure Nancy. The fish and chips look so yummy!

Oh it was! Thank love!
I’ve been talking baby talk to Phoebe too, but then I often do that! More worrying is when I’m on my own at the office and I’m talking to myself š I’m back with wearing cardigan and ankle boots too. We’re supposed to be in Summer, right? Oh my, you do have a lot of wildlife in your garden. Hedgehogs and tawny owls! The stone martins are less fun, they are cheeky thieves! You are looking very business like at the meeting š How do you manage to choose a nail polish with all that choice? And fish and chips! I’m sure they are very different from those you get in England, but to my knowledge you cannot even get it here in Belgium! xxx

We bought it at the fish shop here but it doesn’t taste as nearly good as on the pebbled beach in the UK. Watch out at the office! People might think something of you!Lol.
Sounds like a really nice week! Some relaxing, some exercise, some time spent with friends!! At last, right? Though we are shutting down again here in California as idiots were acting like it was all over! Not so! I talk to my doggies all the time and they are now so used to us being home so often, I worry when we leave to travel again. FInger crossed on that one, since the US is such a mess on this COVID thing. Ugh.

Yes it is scary isn’t it. Although here everything looks well organised, I am holding my breath! I can relax again when there is a vaccine.
Thanks for sharing your week! Love that you have owls in your garden! So jealous.

Thanks, but we only see them when it is shimmering and when they are flying. They are so beautiful!
Sounds like a great week! I have been seeing a lot of wildlife on my walks and runs: mostly deer and their babies, rabbits and lately a fox. He was actually in my yard this weekend!

Oh wow, isn’t that special!
That sounds like a wonderful week. My husband doesn’t usually mind shopping; in fact we just spent a day and a half shopping for my birthday and I think he might have bought more than I did! (though I did spend more money wise). Thanks for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home. Pinned.

A day and a half! Wow, would love to do that again! Thanks love!
What a lovely week you’ve had, Nancy! I love how true you are to your “rock and roll” style. Great outfits.

Thanks Sheila!
I am glad you had a relaxing week, Nancy! And what a bummer that your hedgehog has now gone away. Boo. We have a deer who keeps coming to our backyard very early in the morning. Then she eats from our neighbor’s bird feeder. It is so fun to watch her in action…all elegant and noble and peaceful. And I hate taking Jeff shopping for clothes. He is the worst! Probably much like Gerben. Thanks for linking up!

Oh you should take a photo of the deer! Yeah, Gerben really gets grumpy when we are going shopping for him. I always pick out his clothes and then he says: I can chose my own clothes! Yes darling , then do so, because you are just standing there! pfffff
I did take some photos of the deer but through the window so they aren’t very clear. Once I stepped outside to get a better photo, she ran off! And Jeff doesn’t even like to choose his own clothes. He wants me to go shop and bring everything back for him to try on and then I have to go return what doesn’t work. It is so irritating! Just go to the damn store and shop yourself! Haha.

Well Gerben did that a few years ago and came back with some sweaters. All to boring for words! Not a good idea!
The wildlife in your garden must keep you entertained! Too bad you are not seeing the hedgehog any longer. I wouldn’t take my hubby clothes shopping. I would rather just go by myself. More fun!
Author
Haha, yes I agree about the shopping. I did see it last weekend again!
Your week was more exciting than mine. I have two dogs that I spend every waking minute talking to. Our weather sounds a lot like yours. We had a couple of nice warm days and then yesterday it rained and was sweater weather again. I sure miss life as normal. And your food looks so good. Now I am hungry!
Peace!
