Nautical! The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book

nautical theme at the blog

What do you see ahead of you when you read nautical? I see boats, the sea. holiday, Rye! But how do fashion lovers convert the nautical theme in a outfit? We will show you that! Want to join us next month? You don’t have to be a blogger, influencer or whatever. Just have fun with fashion! Read at the bottom of the post what our next theme is and send us your photos!

Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?

It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!

So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Nautical!

First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

fashion blogger in white dress

I have had this white gauzy dress for years that was perfectly nautical for a trip to The Antique Boat Museum. But I never really liked the way this dress fit me. And I really don’t like the fly away sleeves. Just not my style. I wore the dress twice and then sold it on Poshmark.

Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style

blue and white outfit

Here’s a photo for the good buy “nautical” theme of my stepmom, Nancy. These were definitely good buys because even though the photo is from a couple of years ago, she still has everything and still wears them!!

Laura of I do deClaire

fashionbklogger in red blue and white outfit

This red, white, and blue outfit was so cute, and definitely had a fun nautical feel. But it was a little too short so I said goodbye.

Rena of Fine Whatever

striped blazer for nautical theme

This look was feature in a recent blog post about family heirlooms. When I see navy blue and white together, I usually think nautical which is one of the reasons I added the ship’s wheel and anchor pins to this look. The fact that these pins had been my mother’s made their inclusion in the outfit all the more fitting.

Ellie of Simply Ellibelle

nautical theme outfit

I always think of navy and white stripes when I think of “Nautical”. This striped t-shirt has been in my closet for several seasons now and it’s one of my go-to’s in the summer. Love these colors and style, and I will be really sad when it’s no longer wearable! It was definitely a Good Buy!

Joanne of Slices of Life

white trousers for nautical theme

It took a lot of persuasion from several fashion bloggers to get me to buy some white pants last summer and I just love them!  For a casual nautical look I pair my white Capri pants with this blue and white top.   The look wouldn’t be complete without my anchor earrings and matching blue and white bracelet.
Mireille of Chez Mireille
nautical theme for bloggers series
The skirt is a blogger inspired buy from Jcrew I have had for a couple of years. I don’t wear it very often but always enjoy the comfort of it.

Sheila of Ephemera

Jean Paul Gaultier trousers

I found these unusual vintage jeans hidden in the back of a rack at a very crowded vintage store in Vancouver a few years ago. Turns out they are by Jean Paul Gaultier and are from the 90s (which still doesn’t feel like vintage to me!). How funny how this high-waisted, wide-legged, cropped style is back again, 25 years later! Good Buy!

Suzy of The Grey Brunette

fashion blogger in bikini

I bought a bikini last summer that would fit the nautical theme perfectly! I ordered it online so I was unsure about the fit, but it’s actually perfect. Shame about the translucent white body beneath it though lol!!

And here is my nautical King Louie blazer.

nautical blazer

Pre loved blazer with lovely little sail boats and anchor’s on the buttons. I don’t wear it much, I am not a jacket or blazer wearer, but it’s such a lovely little blazer. And I don’t think I ever showed it on the blog before.

July’s theme will be: Tie Dye!

And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!

Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com

I always enjoy these posts so much. Looks like just about everyone still has their nautical pieces. Funny how we equate blue and white stripes with the sea!! Or the navy?? I had a pair of side button bell bottom jeans that I loved years ago. Wonder what happened to them?

    Nancy,

That blazer is fabulous … very nautical. Everyone did a great job with their spin of the theme. And I’m just realizing that I didn’t say whether my outfits were good buys or good byes. For the record, they were/are good buys. Thanks for the showcase.
