The last Thrifty Six of this year! And we are finishing with what feels like home! Aren’t you curious to see our outfits and the little story that goes with it! Well, I am!
Btw, we are still looking for the sixth member of our group as Lucy left The Thrifty Six. If you are interested, just send a email or dm, whatever suits you best!
Welcome to The Thrifty Six. We are a group of international fashion influencers who meet once a month in our little space on the internet to share our thrifty outfits. On the third Monday of every month, we will all share an outfit based on a theme that features pre loved wardrobe pieces. Shopping and reselling pre loved clothing is so much better for the environment and you can find some of the best fashions in thrift or charity shops. The Thrifty Six are here to inspire you to shop second hand.
What feels like home to me?
I always say I don’t have a signature style. At least I think so. For me, a signature style is something in which you can be drawn out in, which to me means more that it is about recognisability than that it is a style. You apparently don’t develop your style either. But that’s just my opinion.
But of course I do have a certain style that I like. It’s not that I used to love a sporty look and now suddenly only wear pencil skirts. Do you understand what I mean? I have always loved and worn black clothing, ankle boots and skirts. I have always liked a somewhat more classic look. But where I used to wear almost only pencil skirts, I now wear a lot of longer wider skirts. But still with few prints and few accessories. And I wear sneakers a lot more where I never ever used to wear those other then to work out.
So you see, I develop my style right?
At what feels like home, I immediately had to think of outfits from the past that reflect myself. So more coming home in terms of style. This skirt does that for me. And although this skirt, which I bought for a second time, which you can read more about here, is to short and I have already sold it, this style somehow brings me back to my puberty. It’s a bit classic, it’s black, pretty simple, doesn’t need much accessorizing and it feels a bit punky, new wave, 80s, you know? So it feels like home! Like me!

Feels like home…
…is December’s Thrifty Six theme.
Everything I’m wearing is comfy, cosy and quilted – how homely is that!
Standing outside my own front door, dressed head to toe in true vintage pieces, this definitely feels like home to me…
The prompt “Feels Like Home” immediately made me think of my childhood – the patterns and colours of the 70s. I remember orange and brown featuring heavily in our house, which is probably why I love these colours together. I teamed this handmade, vintage shirt with my very old brown trousers, topped off with a faux leather, faux fur trimmed coat. My bag is also preloved, bought from eBay and I made the earrings myself from polymer clay.
Grace of Graceful Rags
What a fitting theme since this is my first day back at home with my family. I decided on an edgy look featuring this teal hand-me-down sweater, which my mom gave me. Nothing feels more like home than spending time with my mom!
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
Although I chose the theme, I ended up struggling which is why I am so last minute! And today of all days, I really do not feel like leaving my home…it is cold and snowy here…so my photos are very homey in front of my Christmas tree all snuggled up in a navy blue preloved shawl that was gifted to me from our next door neighbor at our first home. It was the home we bought in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where we had planned to raise our family until the Army changed those plans!
So this lovely vintage shawl that was passed on to me from that lovely neighbor really reminds me of our very special first home where we welcomed both of our children into our lives. I layered it on top of a super cozy thrifted oversized knit dress in deep plum. I picked this dress up for a few dollars at a local thrift shop for the exact purpose of using it for loungewear and so this is a fun opportunity to share it now.
I love the direction you went with this theme and I love this cute punky skirt on you! The whole outfit is fabulous and something I would absolutely wear myself!

I’m loving this slightly punky look on you, Nancy, and can see why you chose it and feel so at home in it.
To be honest, I would have struggled with this theme, I’ve no idea whatsoever what I would have chosen … xxx

I think so too Jodie and to try things even when they don’t apeal to you!I was surprised to see how I love to wear a sweater over a dress!
I think you look fabulous in this fun flirty little skirt! But, I also think you look gorgeous in longer more flowy skirts! I think you definitely have a signature style…black, gold, edgy, and chic! That says Nancy to me!
