Coats, wrap up for winter! The Thrifty Six

collage of pre loved coats

How nice to see you here. This month our theme is Coats! Only pre loved of course. Do you shop second hand? You really should give it a try. I was hesitant at first, a few years ago, but now I am loving it! So much more unique items to shop for!

Welcome to The Thrifty Six. We are a group of international fashion influencers who meet once a month in our little space on the internet to share our thrifty outfits. On the third Monday of every month, we will all share an outfit based on a theme that features pre loved wardrobe pieces. Shopping and reselling pre loved clothing is so much better for the environment and you can find some of the best fashions in thrift or charity shops. The Thrifty Six are here to inspire you to shop second hand.

My, only, pre loved coat, and not for long….

my pre loved Viktor &Rolf coat

When Jane mentioned she had chosen coats as our November’s theme I thought, gosh I have to shop for a pre loved coat. I do have jackets and blazers, but no coats. I already ordered a leopard print one on a second hand site, but wasn’t really pleased with it. And then it hit me!! I have a Viktor&Rolf for H&M trenchcoat in my closet! How could I forget about that one. Well, probably because I never wear it. It’s a bit to snug and so heavy. But it’s a gorgeous coat!

But because I never wear it, I am going to sell it. Hope that someone else will wear this gorgeous trenchcoat. It’s on my Vinted page.

fur pre loved coat

I found this plush leopard coat a few years ago at my local thrift store and it is one of my favorite, coziest coats that I own. I love wrapping up in it on cold days. I feel kind of like a movie star when I throw it on over jeans.

Winter coats I’ve known and loved…

In my mind, I flick fondly through my winter coat ‘back-catalogue’…

…cashmere, tweed, Marino wool, faux fur, such beautiful colours, shiny buttons and sometimes matching scarves or hats.

Through the years they’ve kept me warm, made me happy and enhanced my fashion statement!

All now worn out, sold, lost, out-grown or given to charity…

 …always making space for more…

…like this dream in cream, the latest addition to my collection…

Oooooooh I do love a winter coat!

What could be better for me than styling a darling vintage coat that belonged to my Mom?  The cut is impeccable, as is the luxurious fabric.  That’s not why I love it though.  Maybe it’s just my imagination but I’m feeling my mom’s scent swirling around me every time I wear it.

jacket with fringes
I love to buy outerwear preloved because it’s such good value for money. The weather has been unseasonably mild for the time of year, which means I can wear this fabulous orange faux suede fringed jacket that I found on eBay. I’ve layered it over a black outfit for maximum impact but I’m already thinking of other ways to wear it!

tweed blazer
Do blazers count as outerwear? I think I’m cheating a *little* with this month’s collab, but I don’t own any thrifted coats and didn’t have time to run to the thrift store. This secondhand brown tweed blazer is still a favorite though! I love how my preppy outfit came together and think the colors make it perfectly suited for a Thanksgiving dinner look (assuming, of course, the skirt and blazer have enough stretch).

Nancy, I love this trench coat so much! The heart details are just too cute. It looks fabulous on you! Coats are my favorite thing to shop second hand for so I had lots to choose from for this prompt. I can’t wait to see what other thrifted coats you find in the future!

Have a fabulous week ahead, my friend!

I think all my coats – and I do have a lot of them – are pre-loved …
Yours is gorgeous, that hear-shaped buckle is really unusual. Such a shame you are never wearing it! xxx

Yes it is, it is just to tight. But it is such a gorgeous one.

Coats are one of those things I just don’t buy. I think it’s because I don’t ever find ones that I love. This trench coat, though! It is amazing! It would be interesting to know its story, wouldn’t it?

Oh, that belt. Isn’t that so fun??
I have so many coats that used to be my mom’s, and even though we live in AZ where you don’t need them as much, I keep adding more, haha.

A really gorgeous, and flattering coat! I know what you mean though. I had a coat I really liked, but never wore because it was just too heavy. Give me a jacket and/or sweater any day!

I have a few coats I inherited from my grandmother that I just love and I used to work at a consignment shop in college where my love of pea coats was born. You are all so stylish in your “new” coats!
