This week I hope I have the energy to change a few things. First of all, stay off the cookies! I tell myself that every time. And we never have them in the house, except when we have guests, and sometimes on the weekend. But the guest canceled because of the flu. So then they stare at me, you know. And then I don’t just have one cookie, no, at least three straight away. And all this while I’m still full from dinner.
Oh, I hate that so much, but I’m having a really hard time controlling myself on that part. I just don’t want those sugars. Then I will try to get outside for some fresh air every day, doesn’t have to be long. And on the days I don’t work out, at least get on the treadmill. Except Fridays, because that’s cleaning day.
And on to some more fun things
- Sweet and sour chicken on Monday.
- Fishburger on Saturday.
- Sateh and chips on Sunday.
And January is over, two more months to go, and then hopefully spring will return. Saturday I worked out, did my hair, make-up and household things, and in the evening we celebrated a friend’s birthday. I find it truly relaxing to have the time to do my make-up. Tried tanning drops for the first time that morning, and I saw the results that afternoon. I can look very pale in the winter, and I find that a little bit of a tan can work wonders. I was thrilled with the result.
It’s always nice to be together, the whole group of friends. It was late when we went home and I was really tired. Luckely its’s only a 5 minute cycling away. Sunday, I was really craving some fresh air, so we went to the park. I’d been inside for a week, phew, that really makes you tired. So we went for a lovely 1.5-hour walk. It wasn’t cold either. In the evening, we had satay and fries—oh, I really indulged. Homemade satay, with raw onion and sambal (sort of chili paste), and of course sateh sauce! Delicious. Monday, you know the drill: work out, laundry, emails, blogging, etc.
What else went on last week
- Before I went to the hairdresser. Bit boring combination now that I see it on the photo…..
- Oh what a cheerful face…..
- Enjoying the sun in front off the garage.
Tuesday morning I went to the gym. It was still freezing and there was a strong east wind, so it was truly cold. I talked to the physiotherapist about probably having to adjust my workout routine because it’s getting too strenuous. I also discussed my chest pain. Fortunately, he agreed it was probably overuse and suggested tai chi to stretch the muscles without straining them.
Good idea! I went to the hairdresser on Wednesday to get my roots done. When I got home it was super sunny, so I sat outside in the sun for half an hour. Wow, that felt good! In the afternoon, I had a phone call with my pulmonary nurse where I could express my concerns. That was a good thing to do. I’ve learned to talk when something’s bothering me…
- The gym to myself for about 20 minutes.
- Outfit of Monday
- How the hell did he get up there? He didn’t dare to jump of!
That evening, we found a condolence card in the mailbox. From a fellow patient, from the rehabilitation centre, from 13 years ago. For all those years after rehabilitation, we’ve gone out for dinner every year with a group of about 10 patients and their partners. I’m the only one left now. Today we’re attending his funeral. Rest in peace, dear John.
And now it is time to join a Fancy Friday Fashion party!
Every Friday you can put your blog, or social media account, in the spotlights and meet other bloggers. Even if you’re not a blogger you can join! But it is a fun way to let others know about your blog posts, and to support each other. It would be nice if you would comment when you join the linkup party. I also pin my favourite on Pinterest.
My Fancy Friday Favourite of last week is: Jennifer of Curated by Jennifer

I would also appreciate if you shared a link to Nancy’s Fashion Style in your post or give a little shout out on social media to promote the Fancy Friday linkup party! And now share your post!

You look fab, love the double-breasted jacket with this skirt.
Sad to hear about John. By coincidence, I lost a dear friend too and his name was also John.
Lots of love,
Blessings!

Oh that is a coincidence! I am sorry for your loss too Carmen.
I like your Monday outfit.
That fishburger looks so good. I’m vegetarian, but there was a fake fish burger I used to buy that was really good and you could combine it so nicely with sauces. Like most things I like the supermarket had it on and off for a while, then it was gone.
I too hope we’ll have spring soon!

I never tried fake fish, we have it here I think. Thanks Cat!
So sorry to hear about your friend. I love how you try to find the joys in the small moments. I will make sure to enjoy the sun when it finally comes out today. It’s been dreary all week. Love this cardigan and skirt combo!

Thanks Jennifer!
I have found that it really helps to spend some time outside when it is sunny even if it is just sitting outside. It really helps my moods. I started running 2 miles this week. I need to get some running in since I signed up for a half marathon, but haven’t run but once every other week for the last month. Sugars get me too, I try not to have things I like in the house because I will eat it!

Yes it does help to go outside. Me neither, but when we have guests I want to offer them something. And then they don’t eat it and I am left with it! Lol.
Hi Nancy – I know exactly what you mean about being tired if you don’t go out. Here in the UK I’ve not only had the cough lurgy that is going around, consequently I didn’t go out at all for 7 days, and then it’s just rain, rain, rain, so the weather really doesn’t help. We have had one sunny day this week which was glorious. Thankfully, I have started going out again and we go out despite the rain.
Loved hearing about your week. Take care and don’t over do it. Despite your health you always look fabulous as you do in these blog photos. Have a good weekend X

We almost never go out when it rains, but we do so in the UK. Lol. Everything is better in thhe UK, even the rain. Thanbk you very much for your kind words Penny!
Nancy, I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend John. I am so inspired by you, and how you keep your spirits up and look so fabulous in spite of your ill heath. Tai Chi sounds like a good alternative to more rigorous exercise. It is good for the body, but also the mind and the soul. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend. Thanks for hosting the link up and sharing your week, and as always, your food wows me. It looks so delicious, even on the screen!

Thank you very much for your kind words Di!
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I applaud your effort to get outside every day. I struggle with the cookies and self-control too. Luckily I have lots of helpers to gobble up those cookies quickly.

Haha, yes and I have Gerben for that! Lol.
I am really enjoying the new format you’re using for your blog. It’s letting me know more about you. You certainly do keep busy. I’m glad you were able to get some answers about your chest pain and talk with your pulmonary person. I am so very sorry about the loss of your friend. May his memory be for a blessing. Thanks, my friend, for the link up!
