The penultimate day of 2022, almost the end of it. Christmas is already over. How fast did that flew by. The run up to Christmas is always such a fun time and then suddenly it’s over again. Such a bummer. But by the time it’s Monday I’ll be happy to be back in my normal rhythm again. Would at least be better in terms of food and drinks. I am sure I’m not the only one here right??
What we did at Christmas 2022
Let me take you through how we celebrated Christmas. On Christmas Eve, Gerben and I made a delicious menu with just the two of us. For starters we had scallops with samphire and pancheta, then bavette from the bbq and asparagus with fries and a horseradish tappenade. And creme brulee for dessert. We enjoyed it very much, not only the food but just to be together and enjoying that we have a week off.
On the first Christmas day we first unwrapped presents at breakfast, and in the afternoon we went to the hospital to see my father and then to my sister and brother-in-law. We also had a delicious meal there, all tapas snacks, I love that. We celebrated it in their new home, very cozy.
Almost the end of 2022
Boxing day, which is second Christmas in The Netherlands, we went to my brother-in-law with the in-laws. Then the men always cook and we had made salads. It had been a few years since we celebrated Christmas with the family, so this was so nice to be together again. And delicious!
The day after that we went to the National Park and had a much needed walk in the fresh air. And so we are almost at the end of 2022. And tomorrow we will celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends! I wish everyone a super fun New Year’s Eve and a great start of the new year!
I would really appreciate it if you would follow me on Instagram.

Your Christmas sounds wonderful, particularly what you ate on Christmas Eve! To be honest I’m always glad when it’s over – it seems to go on forever! Happy New Year to you.
Sounds like you had lovely holidays. I’m so glad. And I’m sorry your dad had to spend Christmas in the hospital. So did my son-in-law. Here’s to a terrific 2023!

So glad to hear you are enjoying lots of lovely holiday festivities with your family over the holidays. Thank you for a year of fashion, fun and link up parties on your blog, I enjoy it very much. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2023!
Your Christmas celebrations look and sound fantastic, Nancy, and oh my, all that food looks truly scrumptious.
I wasn’t 100% well over Christmas, so now I want to do it all over again.
Like you, we did manage a walk, though. Sadly, the weather is going to be all grey and wet for the next couple of days.
Have a wonderful New Year’s Eve and a fantastic 2023! xxx
It goes by so fast doesn’t it? All that build up and it’s gone in a flash. I hope your dad is doing ok. My mum is still in hospital and getting quite grumpy, not that I can blame her. Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

It sounds like you had a delicious and family filled holiday! I can’t wait to get back to “regular” eating.. I feel like we have been eating so much junk (but really it’s all delicious!). LOL
This was wonderful to read Nancy. Speaking of Netherlands, have you read the book “Chasing Shadlows” by Lynn Austin? I think you might find it interesting,
