When I look in my closet I see 1 floral summer dress. This one. And I’m selling it again, so there’s actually not a single floral summer dress hanging there. While a few years ago, read about 9 years ago… (time goes so ridiculously fast) I almost only had floral prints for dresses. Is it not so trendy anymore? Or do I prefer a different print? Because although I hardly ever wear prints, except for stripes, which I don’t really consider a print, I find it almost necessary with dresses, to wear a print that is. That is to say…I almost only wear long dresses when I wear a dress. And if it is a solid one, it will become very compact and flat, like a column. On me that is, I am pretty figureless…..is that a word? No boops, no hips, no bum……
I am back from vacation! We went to Rye, of course, and cycled wit friends and just had a very relaxed time. I didn’t do anything blogging wise but did read al the lovely comments on my red outfit! Thank you very much!
Not a good floral summer dress
This dress is not my colour at all. And the print is a bit too sweet for me. But for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book we had the theme Peach Fuzz and this dress looked very peach in the photo, not so in real life. I think it is a very cold shade of pink that makes no one attractive.
Plus, it’s 100% polyester, so it feels like I’m wearing a shower curtain. If the floral summer dress had been made of viscose or cotton, I think I would have kept it, because it is quite a cheerful dress. Still a bit to girly for me but hey, I have my days….
How I wear a floral summer dress that I don’t like….
I am wearing peach sneakers with it(no idea why I ever bought this colour). Why is peach fuzz Pantone’s colour of the year anyway? Does anyone look good in that colour? It is a shy and insecure colour to me. A denim jacket could not be missed on this dress. I still like that, a denim jacket on a dress. On any dress. A statement golden bracelet and earrings with pink tassels complete the look.
I browsed the internet to see if there were many floral summer dresses available at the moment. That was quite disappointing. I saw a lot of solid dresses. Not many prints at all. Well, maybe I’ll search for another floral dress after all. Because isn’t that part of summer? Wearing a frivol floral dress? I actually think it is.

Thanks Anna!
I love the dress! Beautiful colours. But if you don’t like it, it needs to go.

Indeed Gail. Life is to short to wear clothes you don’t like.
could not agree more. Really pretty details and I love the add of spicing up clothes that are not quite right, but will improve with the right accessoires instead of throwing them away. But no need to hold on to items that are too much of a compromise. Nancy, you can wear dark colors, white, etx so well. They bring out your personality and its a real pleasure to look at your pictures. Wishing you a lovely day.

A floral dress in summer is a must-have, isn’t it? Although definitely not in polyester lol! You look great though, Nancy!
Glad to hear you had a lovely holiday in Rye!

I echo your comments Nancy. I try I really try with floral dresses but I’m just not feeling it! Have to say it looks good on you but other people see how they would like to look – although that’s a heck of a compliment!!!

Thanks Jacqui!
Too bad the dress is not a good one in real life, it looks pretty in photos. The polyester would be a big turn off for me too! Thanks for the link up Nancy!

It’s really a beautiful dress, but the polyester fabric in the summer wouldn’t work for me either. Love your styling – so cute with the sneakers and denim jacket! Have a great weekend Nancy!

Thanks Jill. No the polyester really felt horrible.
Floral prints are a bit marmite I think, sometimes floral is just right and then other times it’s too much!
The dress looks pretty but if it’s polyester and you don’t really like it then go with your gut and sell. But it does look good here on the blog and you’ve accessorised it beautifully. Have a great weekend X

Thank you very much Penny. Can you believe I never tried Marmite…..
That floral dress is beautiful. I love how you paired it with the denim jacket. Such a great summer wardrobe.

I’m glad to hear you had a wonderful time in Rye, although I didn’t doubt this for one moment!
What a shame about the lack of floral Summer dresses. I thought Summer and floral dresses went hand in hand!
The one you’re wearing here might be a bit too girly and the colour not the ideal one for you, but I don’t think it looks bad at all, particularly paired with the denim jacket. I’m hearing you on Peach Fuzz though. It’s a weird choice for Pantone colour of the year! xxx
Author
It is a weird colour indeed. I tink the dress looks not that bad because of the denim jacket. Which I only wear outside…..
I totally understand with the material being polyester. But I love the colors and I’m one of those that looks good in Peach. Being girly used to be a death threat to me, but now I don’t mind it at all. Funny how I’ve changed,

I love wearing a jean jacket whenever I wear a dress too!

It always looks cool doesn’t it!
I think you look great in the dress, but you’ve got to feel good in it too. I wonder who chooses the pantone colour…it doesn’t seem to filter down to the high street, in fact, there’s a distinct lack of colour in a lot of shops right now.

Indeed! It must be a man!
Yes, I am seeing a lot of beige, bleh!
We have a lot of floral print dresses where I work, but they are more bold and bohemian as opposed to sweet. Anyway! That dress is cute, and I love how you styled it. But if you don’t feel good in it, then don’t wear it. Maybe check out And Other Stories or Zara? Anyway, I am happy that you enjoyed your vacation, and I hope that you have a glorious weekend, Nancy!

THank you very much Caroline. Ah, I always forget about and oter stories! That’s a good one, thanks Caroline!
I agree with you on Peach Fuzz…I don’t know of many people who look good in it. It’s just not for me anyway. It’s too bad your dress is polyester because the print is kinda cute. Of course, you’re reading a comment from the queen of floral prints so of course I like a floral print dress! But, I don’t like polyester! Thanks for the link party! I’m so glad you had a wonderful time in Rye!

THank you very much Marsha! No this polyester was really horrible. And it wasn’t even a bad brand.
I still love this dress so much and the way you styled it with a denim jacket and sneakers! But I agree that it really isn’t “Nancy”. The print and color are definitely much “sweeter” and “cuter” than your trademark edgier styles. As much as I love this dress, however, when you said it feels like a shower curtain, my immediate reaction was “Ewwww! I hate shower curtain dresses!” So now you have ruined the dress for me, too. Hahahahaha! Have a lovely weekend, my friend!

I thought you were going to say that the dress is much cuter and sweeter then I am…..lol. Which is true!! Haha.
Looking very nice. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

Thank you Patrick!
I love floral dresses for summer, but completely understand your reasoning for selling this one! Especially the fabric!
I hope you are having a great week so far!

Yes, I didn’t notice it when I bouht the dress. But this polyester was horrible.
Very feminine styling! This dress looks very nice. Dresses made of cashmere are also ideal in spring and summer, as the skin breathes very well at high temperatures.
Author
Yeah…….but this one is polyester as it says…..
While you look fabulous in this dress, Nancy, I would have tossed it due to the fabric. I loathe prints that are white on the back – it’s crap quality.
Author
It is! I hate that too, it looks so cheap!
