I thought it would be fun to write a post about my random favorite things. Just for the fun of it! (and perhaps you are a bit tired of seeing my outfits haha!)
I am participating in The Netherlands with the blogger awards. Would you be so kind to vote for me please! I appreciate that a lot!
So here are 9 of my favorite things!
- Favorite animal: Cats. From the moment I left the house, when I was 19, I have always had cats. Gerben was not used to cats so he had to get used to it when we started living together. I think it took him a week. Then he moved aside on the couch to give the cat a better space! We have had Mainecoons for years.
- Favorite drink: Espresso martini! Oh man that’s so delicious! But I also love a good ice coffee and Aperol Spritz.
- Favorite country: Well, it’s not difficult: England. Gosh, what would I like to live there. I think Brighton is my favorite city. The feeling of being homesick when we have not been for a while is terrible. But as a holiday destination we also loved Lanzarote and Ibiza.
- Favorite car: I like big cars. I would prefer to drive a Mustang or a Jaguar. But I’m also very satisfied with our Mercedes.
- Favorite film: Pulp Fiction. Brilliant! Anyway I am a fan of all Quentin Tarantino films. And I love horror and thrillers, with candy! You can’t watch a good horror without candy!
- Favorite music: The Cure! That is my number one band! From when I was 14. When I first heard A Forrest on the radio I thought, perhaps life gets better. Yes, I was such a 14 year old….
- Favorite date: I love to spend the day with Gerben at a Zoo and have dinner afterwards in a Azian(of course) restaurant. In the UK there are a lot of Wildlife parks, they are the best!
- Favorite accessories: That would be the necklace that Gerben gave me when we were 6 months together. It’s the one I am wearing now for 27 years!
- Favorite life: Mine! And I can tell you it’s not a easy one! But I have a small but good family and in-laws, fabulous friends and the most wonderful partner!
I would really appreciate it if you would share my outfit on Pinterest! Just hoover over the photo!
My favorite of last week is: Jill James of Grown-up Glamour. I think she always looks so cool and she wears the best gloves!

Wonderful nine things. Point 9 is so important to love the life ❤️
You do it right Nancy!
It is! It is already to short. That’s what I like about you too, you enjoy life!
Good to hear about your favourite things Nancy. We have a lot in common! I could say pretty much the same other than my favourite is dogs over cats xx
Haha, we could get along Laurie!
Interesting to read your 9 things – Brighton was a favourite of mine when I lived in London, too!
Fantastic city isn’t it!
Fun list Nancy – I love The Cure too! How sweet that you are still wearing the necklace Gerben gave you 27 years ago!
Yes it is! I only replaced the little heart because one of the cats chew on it!
What a lovely post Nancy and so nice to know your favourite things! Appreciate family and yes, Brighton!!!!! Where were you in that shot – on the wheel thing???? Have you been on the Brighton i360? Mr F has but not me – heights!!!! Have a lovely weekend x
The Eye( wheel thing) was in Brighton a few years ago. Haha, so funny that I know that and someone who is living in Brighton does not. Yes I have been twice in the i360. Last year for the second time because we brought my dad and his wife with us to the UK. It’s not scary Penny, it’s beautiful.
It was lovely reading about your 9 fav things. I’m allergic to cats, but I love them to bits. I love dogs too, but I prefer cats. What I like about cats is they have such distinct personalities, and some of them are so smart. I kept cats in the past despite my allergy. Once our neighbour’s cat decided to move in with us. We kept her in a basement ( or better to say she kept herself there, there was a hole in the basement door and one day she just moved in…funny thing she was, when it would snow she refused to come out of the basement). It is good your partner got used to living with cats so quickly, I’m sure that was good news for you as a cat lover. I really like the necklace you showed too. England is a country I yet have to visit, despite the fact that I have worked as an English language teacher (now that the summer has started, my contract with the school has just ended but I might work as one next school year as well). I voted for you in the Netherlands blog contest btw (at least I think I did). We don’t have zoos in Mostar, but I’d love to visit a zoo again some time. It is a good date option for animal lovers.
Life with a chronic illness isn’t easy. I assumed that you had some kind of lung problem when I saw the oxygen tubes in your last post and now I read about it on your about page. I have Chron’s disease and sometimes it can be a real struggle. I have to take a lot of medication and I constantly feel tired….but on the upper side, having a chronic illness can make us appreciate just how fragile life is and see that what really matters is love and kindness.
I like your attitude lady! Thanks for voting! I appreciate that a lot! But living with Chron’s disease isn’t easy at all. I knew someone who had Chron’s disease. But you have the right spirit and that will get you anywhere! Thanks for your lovely comment!
It’s fun to learn these things about you. Have a great weekend
Thanks Gail! Have a great weekend!
I like when someone shares very personal facts about their lives, especially if you can see some similarities between theirs and yours. I couldn’t help but smiling when I read that you like big cars and would like to drive a Jag. My husband drives one of these long old classics and I have small x-type. I hate driving his, try to do parallel reverse parking and love mine. Thank you for sharing
Oh that is fantastic! I always wanted a Jag! And the x-type are my favorites!
Aw, Nancy! I love this post! I might need to try an espresso martini! Maybe it will replace the wine through a straw!
Oh no gosh! I made you want to drink more! Haha! But it is really so very delicious! Try! But don’t write emails after it! Lol!
Love this post and hearing about all your favorite things! I used to be a dog lover but now I love cats because my husband has them. The Cure is amazing and I love that you love your own life best. More people should feel that way!
I agree with the last! Thanks Kathrine!
So nice to read more about you and your favourite things! I’d love to have cats, I am more of a dog person but every time the animal shelter we adopted our dog from asks for people to foster cats I always think I’d like to give it a go…sadly our pup doesn’t like cats much, haha!
Thank you for the link up!
Hope you’re having a great week and have a nice weekend ahead of you 🙂
Well then don’t please! haha, happy weekend love!
Always fun to learn about other bloggers favorite things!
It’s so great to know a fellow cat lover. Too many people cats and I never understand why.
Me neither, some people are afraid of them!! Why? They are the sweetest!
So fun to learn more about you! The Cure is one of my favorite bands too!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Oh really! Have you been to their concerts as well?
This was SO fun to read, Nancy. I voted and here’s wishing you luck!!
I just love that your cats cuddle. I keep wishing and hoping that mine would do that too, but so far, no luck!!
The best thing you said was loving your life. That’s how we all should be because that’s what we have!! Let’s spread that message for sure!!
Indeed Jodie! And it is way to short after all!
A necklace that you’ve worn for over 20 years?? I love it Nancy. That is just so sweet!
27 years! Every day, it never gets of!
It’s nice to see what your favorite things are Nancy. Love number 9 🙂
haha, thanks Nora!
I enjoyed reading your list. I love wine and a great cocktail – your espressso martini sounds yummy. I want to visit Europe, England is on the list.
Such pretty kitties too!
You should visit England, it’s so beautiful!
What a nice post, Nancy! It’s fun getting to know you a bit better through some of your favourite things. We’ve got several in common, cats and England are two of them. But you knew that last one, didn’t you! I love how you mention that you love your life, even if it has not always been easy for you. Being happy in your own skin is so important. I greatly admire your attitude, Nancy! xxx
That means a lot to me Ann! Thanks!
I agree with plenty of your choices, only yes I am a dog person not a cat. xx thanks for sharing today. Jacqui Mummabstylish
Thanks for sharing your choices! It’s great to get to know you better!
I so enjoying learning a little more about you through your favourite things Nancy. Like you I love to travel and see different things. I enjoyed Brighton but it was many years ago.
Good luck in the blogger awards. Many thanks for featuring me Nancy , a lovely surprise.
Enjoy your weekend, hope the weather is kind. xx
Thanks Jill! I first visited Brighton 40 years ago! Still love that city!
What a fun post! It’s always so nice to read and learn more about the bloggers we follow!
I loved reading a bit more about you in this post! Thank you for the link up.
Ah thanks Suzanne!
Dear Nancy. How beautiful are your number 8 & 9 of the list! You are blessed. Love, Lieske
Thanks Lieske, I have a lot of angels around me someone told me once!
I also love an Aperol spritz—what’s not to like? 😉

I know!! hahaha
I love reading these posts from you, Nancy!
Your cats are absolutely gorgeous. I’m a total cat person too but it was my husband that enticed me to them when we were young. I was always scared of them LOL. Now I just adore them!
Thanks Suzy! I don’t understand why people are afraid of cats! They are the cutest fury friends!
