Small moments, big changes: my week

small moments big changes

And I mean big changes for me, that I have to make in my life. For a healthy person it really is nothing. And that is a good thing. Last week’s, post ended on Thursday when I went to the hairdresser. I was so happy that everything had gone well that I felt like going out for dinner in the evening. (Aint that a small moment, going to the hairdresser!) Just off to the Chinese restaurant, nothing fancy, just the two of us. I find it much nicer to go out for dinner with just the two of us during the week than on the weekend. Then I prefer going with friends. I feel often so lost in the weekend. Is that weird? I loved it at the Chinese restaurant and ate a lot. It felt good to go out. Asian food is my favourite!

The feautured photo was a Easter outfit from 2019. The skirt was a dress but I altered it. And those peeptoes were years my favourite summer shoe.

Small moments can make big changes

Friday is cleaning day, did not the entire house though. That’s one of the changes I have to make, not want to do everything in one day. Spread it out! Saturday is for working out in the morning and doing some things around the house. We had no plans for the weekend. That’s rare these day’s. On Sunday, I got out the summer clothes and reorganized the wardrobes. I have such nice tops from last year, can’t wait to wear them again. And to wear the yellow and pink jeans again! Now I just have to steam a whole lot of clothing.

And I had ordered clothes. Luckily, there were a few items that fit. Even the lingerie fit! Again a small moment but big change. Because for the past year I’ve been wearing bras you can barely feel and seamless panties. But what’s nice about that? So I’m happily switching back to lace. I feel much more feminine in that.

Monday was a day like any other Monday. Well, not quite, because I have to take it easy. And I had a meeting at town hall in the evening. So I did work out, but not the laundry, blogging, emails, etc. To you it might sound like nothing much, for me they are big changes. But I did spend ages messing around with my hair. It’s impossible to manage after that amount of antibiotics. My face and skin look terrible too. Very dry and tired, and everything is sagging……

I had to laugh at the town hall. An evening was underway there for the farewell and the installation of new council members. (We just had the municipal elections.) With much fanfare, of course. And then the door to our meeting room has to be closed because they don’t want to see the common people. They don’t even say hello back. When it comes to participation, there is still a long way to go…..big changes, not something civil servants are a fan of.

And the rest of my week

On Tuesday, I went back to the gym to work out for the first time in 5 weeks. It was really nice to see everyone again, but phew, it was tough. Luckily, my physiotherapist helped me with the exercises and told me what I could and couldn’t do. It will probably take another month or two before I have my muscle strength fully back.

On Wednesday, we were out all day looking for new furniture. It really isn’t easy when you’re changing styles. (big changes) We hope to be able to make a decision next week. And then it will take another few months before we have the furniture. I went to the gym again on Thursday. It is so incredibly disappointing what I can do. It also takes me 20 minutes longer to get ready to go out of my house! Because I still have to rest so much between washing, getting dressed, etc. But I did feel a bit more confident on the bicycle and outdoors. That is nice. They say we’re going to have a warm day here next week, so who knows, maybe I’ll be able to go for a bicycle ride then! I wish you all a very happy Easter weekend.

And now it is time to join a Fancy Friday Fashion party!

Every Friday you can put your blog, or social media account, in the spotlights and meet other bloggers. Even if you’re not a blogger you can join! But it is a fun way to let others know about your blog posts, and to support each other. It would be nice if you would comment when you join the linkup party. I also pin my favourite on Pinterest.

My Fancy Friday Favourite of last week is: Penny of Conversations with a Older Woman

Well done Nancy on the changes you’re making. It’s not easy to make changes. Great that you were back in the gym after 5 weeks. Small steps equal big gains. Hope you have a good weekend.

That pic of the filet of fish made me laugh. It’s Good Friday and I don’t eat meat and have to fast. Was thinking maybe that would be my only meal. Lol! Yes to small changes. Glad you are noticing that it takes time to change. Love the furniture your are considering! Praying that being more active gets easier for you.

Listen to your body and rest when you need to rest! We had to take my mom to the emergency room this past Monday and this week so far she is doing well after the fluid IVs they gave her. I hope she will be well for a bit now. New furniture is fun, but the making of decisions is not always easy. We were lucky that the one couch we saw was exactly what we wanted and was super comfortable. We agreed on it and didn’t look at anything else.

Glad you are starting to feel better now, Nancy! Changes are hard to make and take time to adjust to. It sounds like you are really making a lot of them at once! Your new furniture looks beautiful, I love the simple, clean lines and light colors. Hope you have a relaxing weekend-pace yourself! Thanks so much for hosting the link up and sharing your week with us!

You had me worried, Nancy! I was afraid you were going to tell us really bad news. I’m sorry you aren’t able to resume your daily routines, but you’re getting there. I think you look lovely in all these photos. We have been eating at McD’s way too much because it’s just down the road. Sometimes, Mike just wants a filet-o-fish! Thanks for the link up!

Oh that filet-o-fish was so sticky, brr. It’s just that we were going from one furniture store to the other that we choose quick! But never ever again.

Small changes for sure! Wow, you have a lot of them but I am glad you are getting back to the gym and taking your time. I am sure it is frustrating that you have to rest but please do!
I remember the pink and yellow jeans from last year, I know you’ll love wearing them again this year!

Nancy, I am so glad that you are finding a new routine that works for you. I know the transition is difficult for you but I also know how strong you are! You look wonderful in all of your outfit photos even though you might not be feeling 100% wonderful yet. I really like your furniture choices. I know that you and Gerben were struggling on which chairs to get and I still think you should get two with the legs he likes and the others with the legs you like! Sending you lots of love and positive energy, my friend!

Hahaha, nono, he wants chairs with wheels! A nogo for me. Thanks love!

Glad that you are getting your fitness back, Nancy. Riding a bike takes a lot of stamina and you definitely have it. Changing the style could be daunting so you should take it in small steps. I personally like the chair of the left and a nest of coffee tables looks lovely. Enjoy your weekend Anna

Thanks Anna. My preference is the left chair too.

Getting back to the gym is a big step forward, it must have felt good, even if you had to do a bit less than usual. I hope you had a great Easter!

You always amaze me with all you do and while not always feeling 100%. Glad to read that you are feeling stronger again. But continue to give yourself grace. I am now 68 and have to remind myself that I can’t do ALL the THINGS in one day that I used to be able to do. Especially when it comes to getting the house clean.

Your new furniture choices are like pieces of art!! Truly lovely. And so chic. My grandbabies would do a number on them in one visit!! Looking forward to seeing pictures of the finished update to your rooms.
