Tie dye has never been my thing. But when we wanted it as the theme for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, I had too buy something tie dye. Because I didn’t have anything tie dye, shocking right! Now I had a voucher for a online shop, so I thought I would look out for a maxi tie dye skirt there. And much to my surprise I found such a lovely skirt. And in real life it was even more beautiful, I’m really happy with this skirt. Somehow I think that tie dye looks the best in maxi skirts or maxi dresses.
Maxi tie dye skirt
I already commented at Shelbee on her blog that I bought more maxi skirts and dresses this year than in my entire life. Probably because my legs are getting uglier. So annoying. It is as if when you turn 50 your body is changing so so quickly! And not for the better, let me tell you that! Let’s stick to the skirt.
The slippers I wear underneath really fit perfectly with a maxi tie dye skirt. I think sneakers would look very good too or other sandals. But I would never wear pumps under a skirt like this. I think that would be very frumpy. On me that is. I chose a white simple tee. Because the skirt, in my eyes, is already eye catching enough, I wanted to keep the rest as quiet as possible. Nice white statement earrings and a statement ring.
And why I styled my tie dye skirt like this
Someone on my IG account commented, when I showed this maxi tie dye skirt, that I should belt it, wear statement earrings(look better dear), wear a tank and pull up my hair. First of all, I love it when you give me suggestions, sometimes I really need them. This comment was a bit rude though, unasked for and with no introduction at all.
But….. she had a point on some….however……I show my outfits on the blog how I actually wear it! And I like minimalisme. Of course, one could wear a belt, which was actually a good idea, I also could wear other colors, I could wear ankle boots, I could wear a jacket, whatever! But I wore it like this, and this is how you see me, as I really wore it. If you would stop by my house you would see me as you see me on my blog. I don’t dress for my blog, I dress the way I like to and then put it on my blog!
Now all I need is a invatation for a bbq and I’m ready to bring out my maxi tie dye skirt!
My favorite of last week is: Melody of Melody Jacob

That is a beautiful maxi skirt! I have a tie dye maxi skirt and maxi dress and I really love them both a lot! I agree there are many ways you could style this but sometimes simple is best 🙂
I only take photos of what I actually wear each day too 🙂
Hope your week is going well and you have a nice weekend ahead of you 🙂

The skirt is really lovely and the way you’ve style it is perfect – no need for a belt! I think the white tee is absolutely all you need, plus those white sandals. It’s perfect!

Thank you very much Penny!
I’m with you, I like to style my outfits as I would be wearing them. White and blue is such a pretty summer color combo! Love your tie-dye skirt and minimalist styling!

Love, love love this look, Nancy! Don’t listen to anyone! The key of all this situation is you want to be yourself and we want to see you and YOUR choices, YOUR style! We are all unique and though our images we express ourselves, and not how others want to see us. I noticed that with age I began to choose more and more minimalistic looks.
If I styled this beautiful skirt (I am also not a big fan of tie dye items, but I love yours), I would exactly repeat after you, not more and not less! Perfect look!

Oh that is so very kind of you Tatiana. Thanks !
What a fabulous skirt, Nancy! I am glad that I could inspire you to add some fun tie dye! I love the way you styled it simply to let it shine on its own. But you are so right, you could do a million different things with this skirt and wear your hair in a variety of ways so that is an odd style suggestion that you received on your previous IG post. In any event, I love that you dress for you and share it on your blog and not the other way around! Have a great weekend!

Love the skirt, we’ve styled similar this week Nancy. I totally agree with you in the fact I dress on my blog how I dress IRL, this is how you’ll find me, except when I’m cutting my dreaded grass! Thanks for hosting today. Jacqui x

Haha, well for me not in the morning. Then I always wear my work out gear!

Indeed, I never fall for tie dye, but this skirt feels great!
Very pretty summery outfit. You look fabulous!

Haha, yes just go away! Thanks Caroline!
I love how you styled it..casual… wearable and easy. Why do some people feel the need to give unasked for advice? If I do not particularly like something I say nothing or I wish them a nice weekend or I find something I like and mention that…
Author
Indeed. If I want advice, I ask for it! Thanks Hilda!
Nancy I remembered!! Thank you for badgering me to link up 😉
I haven’t worn tie dye in so long, I’m actually quite liking the idea of doing my own with some old t-shirts! I like the way you’ve styled it – as you say it’s how you wore it, so all this unsolicited advice bullsh*t from people is SO passé, what decade are they living in?? We’re long past the time of women being told what to wear or how to wear it, some people need to realise that…!
Anyway rant over, you look lovely 😀

This skirt is so pretty, it makes me rethink my new revelation that I shouldn’t buy any more skirts this year as I have enough! I love the colors and the “swish swish” of this one. I also really like that you share what you wear in real life: that is where we can get real inspiration from you!

Fabulous skirt. I adore maxi skirts so this tie-dye one is a winner in my book. And I wholeheartedly agree with your approach to “dress the way I like to and then put it on my blog!” This most often applies to footwear because too many times I see bloggers wearing shoes that don’t look comfortable to wear for longer than 10 minutes.

Indeed, and what is really weird, a lot of bloggers buy clothes, take photos and then return the clothes! Wtf?
I am loving this dress. Perfect for this season for fancy Friday. Completely loving this maxi skirt with white earrings and you are looking so gorgeous!
Author
Thank you very much.
Never mind whether someone is right or wrong, or the advice given is well-meant, I abhor people who think they have the right to be rude, on Instagram or anywhere else really! I’m showing what I’m actually wearing too, by the way!
I’m loving that skirt even if I’m not a big fan of tie-dye either. I would wear this one in a heartbeat though. The plain white top is perfect with it, and how gorgeous are those earrings! You made me laugh with the legs remark, but it’s actually spot on, isn’t it. I’ve even started wearing more trousers for that reason 🙂 xxx P.S. I subscribed by the way, but I’m still getting the feedburner emails, it seems, and your posts now pop up again in my Blogger reading list. So all is well 🙂
Author
THanks Ann! Yes Feedburner announced that they stopped in July I think, but it is still there. You in trousers, that’s rare!
Love this simple and fresh blue and white styling of your maxi skirt, Nancy. The beaded earrings and those cute slides are the perfect summer accessories! Have a good weekend and thanks for the link up!

That is the perfect summer outfit! I love a pretty maxi skirt with sandals and t-shirts. I used to wear maxi skirts all the time but I don’t have any that fit anymore and I have been on the hunt for some new ones.

I had bought some pre loved maxi skirts and I really like them!
Love this whole look, Nancy! I’m just crazy about tat skirt! And the earrings are the perfect touch too xx

THank you very much Lucy!
Ah, the rude IG comments. People are pretty bold when they don’t have to face someone, aren’t they? Regardless, it is an adorable skirt and I love the way you’ve styled it. I agree that tie-dye looks best in a maxi length so you can really see the cool print. Enjoy your weekend, Nancy!

Indeed Darlene, when you see them in face they are so smooth ! THanks love!
A skirt like this is the only way I’d do tie-dye, because it looks like a pattern – tie-dye reads “sloppy” to me, because I prefer patterns, even chaotic ones. This, however, is a LOVELY skirt, and you look carefree and happy in this outfit, Nancy. That IG commenter was rude, and I do get where you’re coming from. I also dress for me, so what you see in pictures is what I actually wear out in the world, not just outfits created to be shown on my blog.
Thank you so much for the link party! I’ll be joining you shortly. Have a fantastic weekend (I hope you get a BBQ in there!).
Author
No I didn’t! Get the BBQ! Haha, it’s been a very rainy summer here!
This outfit is perfect for a summer BBQ, Nancy! I love the minimalistic approach with your tee and sandals. You really don’t need anything else!
I hope you are having a great week so far!

Hi, Nancy – You are right, this tie-dye maxi skirt is a masterpiece! And those earrings are so adorable, too. You’re right on trend with a tie-dye piece right now. Old classics return again and again, so this skirt can last. It’s nice to know you look this good every day. Wow! – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

Hi Nancy!
I have a few tie dye dresses and they are a midi and maxi! I do prefer that length with tie dye too! This skirt looks great and I love the white accents! I think one has to be minimal in the summer because it is very hot here!
Have a great day!

I wouldn’t want to wear a belt, not in the summer! I hate anything too tight or body hugging when it’s hot. I think you look fabulous exactly as you are, Nancy. I love the tie dye skirt. I don’t think I have any tie dye in my wardrobe at all, which is why I didn’t take part in the Good Buy post!
Have a fabulous week, my friend.
