Street Style Tips for Mature Fashion Lovers

Street Style Tips for Mature Fashion Lovers

Street style has grown in popularity as a fashion trend recently. A blend of athleisure wear and key designer pieces, it helps anyone to look put-together while still remaining as comfy as possible. While street style is most popular amongst millennials, there is no reason why you as a more mature fashion lover cannot also enjoy this style. Let’s take a look at some of the things you could do to incorporate street style into your wardrobe.

What street style shoes to wear as a mature woman

Street Style Tips for Mature Fashion Lovers
One of the easiest ways to introduce street style into your wardrobe is through your shoes. Current street style trends involve designer trainers from all sorts of brands. From Yeezys, Balenciaga’s, or Gucci sneakers, there are many designer trainers you could buy.

Designer trainers make for an eye-catching extra to your outfit. While it may be expensive, they are also one of the most cost-effective ways to buy designer gear as you will be getting a lot of use out of them. You can even shop online for many of your favorite brands thanks to shops like SSENSE who feature the top designers including Gucci. No matter what you look for in a shoe, you will be able to find a designer sneaker which is comfortable and stylish.

Bum bags are streetstylebum bags

While they were once the go-to for stereotypical tourists, bum bags have made a massive comeback in recent years. They fit discreetly around your waist, leave your arms free for tasks on the go, and are big enough to only carry the necessities.

If you feel like you are someone who always overpacks, a bum bag might be a great way for you to work out what you actually need to take out with you. You also won’t need to panic about someone trying to lift your bag when you are out somewhere. As it will be safe by your side at all times.

Midi Length Hemlines as a streetstyle

Many young street style fanatics tend to gravitate towards short hemlines. They might look good in these thigh-skimming skirts but it isn’t always the most flattering thing for mature bodies. Luckily there is one other cut which is popular in street style which might be a lot more suitable; the midi.

Midi cut items should usually hit you somewhere around your mid-shin. From cropped trousers or leggings to skirts of every silhouette, adding some midi hemlines to your wardrobe will allow you to dress in a street-smart way. It is the perfect age-appropriate way to fit into this trend.

Knowing how to update your wardrobe in this way proves that street style isn’t just for millennials. With the right pieces of clothing, you too can look effortless and fashionable when dressing in this style. If you are keen to shake up your wardrobe, this might be the perfect way for you to look for something fresh and new to wear. Hit your favorite shops and take a look on Instagram. Before you know it, you might be dressed in the perfect street style-inspired outfit regardless of your age.

It is actually a British thing originally. It’s a clash of styles, so not as polished as you see on the fashion shows. But a creative mix of what people love to wear. Not being restricted by fashion rules, as if they still exist.

I do think shoes are huge!! They can make or break an outfit, and with all the fun sneakers…it’s the perfect time to wear them.

And there are some beautiful ones with leopard print and all!

I admit to not being the biggest fan of athleisure wear and I can only abide sneakers if they don’t have those thick white soles. These I know are hard to find, especially if you don’t want to pay over the odds, so I was very pleased to find my pink floral ones in a charity shop in the UK! Now midi skirt are more my cup of tea, but I wonder if they are considered street wear? I don’t really know about these things, as I do not usually follow any trends … Once a punk, always a punk 😉 xxx

I would feel a lot more comfortable wearing a bumbag differently to how we did when young so this is great inspiration. Thank you.

You do? I have never worn them and never will. Lol.

Nah, I won’t be doing bum-bags again, but I do love the midi length. I’m not on board for ugly trainers, but I do like a chunky shoe every so often.

What a fun post Nancy. I am all about some street style and isn’t it funny that there’s even a classification for “street style”. Those gals in the midi skirts were adorable!

Yes, just like shopping your closet. I think that is a strange classification. Thanks Chrissy.
