This months theme is Silk Satin, whatever you prefer! We think it was a difficult theme as there are not many entries. Hope to see more of you next month. But let’s take a look at our silk items!
Silk or Satin
Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?
It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!
So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Silk/Satin!
First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
This red silk/satin maxi skirt was absolutely a Good Buy. I was hesitant to purchase it because I was unsure how to style such a skirt, but it was super inexpensive at a consignment shop so I went for it. And now I love it! Especially paired with contrasting items like a graphic tee in the summer or a plaid shirt in the winter. I hope to find lots of fun ways to style this satin skirt.
I picked this satin skull print dress from Rosegal and I didn’t check the measurements properly. While I absolutely love this dress, it is about 5 sizes too big. You can’t tell from the photo but it is being held on by about half a dozen safety pins in the back. I haven’t yet decided if I should just say Good-Bye to it or invest in alterations
This is Lesley of Jodie’s Touch of Style
Lesley is wearing a silk blouse. It’s a faux silk, and such a wonderful color!! I love how she paired it with brown for the fall season.
And here is how I wear silk!
A lovely red silk skirt that is so light, you hardly feel you’re wearing it. A Good Buy!
Oh I felt so sexy in this silk/satin wrap dress. It’s the feeling that silk gives you on your body! But it is to small now. Still it was a Good Buy.
We hope you liked this months Silk/Satin outfits!
December’s theme will be: Faux Fur!
And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!
Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com

Thanks Tina, enjoy your weekend!
I love your wrap dress Nancy. These dresses are often the perfect mix of comfort and style (or sexy like you described it). Too bad it’s too small now…..though that means you simply have to go on the hunt for another one, right?!? Maybe not too bad after all ? Have a great weekend! Love, Lieske

Haha, there is always a upside to a down side right!
The silk skirt is beautiful Nancy – love how you’re wearing it with a cropped top. Silk is one of my favourite fabrics but sometimes it’s hard to find items you like.

You look absolutely stunning in the red outfit. Have a lovely weekend – hope it’s better weather than in Brighton where it’s raining and very grey!

Thanks Penny!
Silk is always a good buy in my book, especially when it’s as gorgeous as your red skirt! And to answer the question you left on my blog, Friendsgiving is a Thanksgiving dinner with friends instead of family! 😉

Ah so Thanksgiving is always with family! Learning all the time.
I could not find my clothes! I love the silk/satin style!
Author
Well let’s hope you have something faux fur then!
I love a wrap dress and the print is fab on yours Nancy. There’s nothing like the feel of
Silk, such a lovely material next to the skin.

Author
I love it more and more. Thanks Jill.
I would have had a hard time participating, as I hardly have any silk or satin items in my wardrobe, apart from pyjamas! I’m loving both your choices, though. The red skirt looks absolutely delightful to wear, and that dress is all kinds of fabulous! xxx
Author
Well, it would have been very original to send in your pyjamas! Faux fur??? Anything??
I just love the red and bright pink together Nancy!!
You guys always put together the best themes!!
Xoxo

Oh thank you very much Jodie, we appreciate that!
Lots of good buys here! The skirt and dress look amazing on you Nancy! Have a great weekend!
Author
Thanks Laura, have a great start of the week!
Your outfits are both definitely good buys! Satin is a tricky fabric for me, especially skirts as they can cling in the wrong places – fit is everything…and good underwear!

Yes….and good underwear! Lol.
That red skirt is so gorgeous on you. I love it. The dress is beautiful as well. There’s no silk or satin in my closet. I think it’s because I don’t feel pretty in it around my face (all that scarring. feels like it casts shadows. lol). As for bottoms it shows everything. Maybe I haven’t tried the right color or designer! Have a wonderful week Nancy. Always fun to read this series.
