Romance…I’m not romantic at all. But February is Valentine’s Day, of course. It’s really lovely that we celebrated my parents in-law’s 65th wedding anniversary last Saturday. On Valentine’s Day! Pure coincidence, though. But romance, that involves red and pink, right? I think my girlfriends will look very special.
Welcome to The Thrifty Six. We are a group of international fashion influencers who meet once a month in our little space on the internet to share our thrifty outfits. On the third Monday of every month, we will all share an outfit based on a theme that features pre loved wardrobe pieces. Shopping and reselling pre loved clothing is so much better for the environment and you can find some of the best fashions in thrift or charity shops. The Thrifty Six are here to inspire you to shop second hand.
Best of Romance

I’m not romantic at all, and Valentine’s Day means nothing to me. And I’m not into the colour red either. Haha, but I have a pre-loved red jumper and even red ankle boots, and a red flower brooch too. Well, look, romantic enough for me!
Sally of Within a World of My Own

For this month’s Romance theme, I went all in with a classic Valentine’s Day color for a “pretty in pink” version of one of my go-to winter outfit formulas! My thrifted pieces are the light pink pants, quilted vest, and pink Cheshire Cat striped scarf. I wouldn’t typically wear ballet flats with this kind of outfit, but I liked the additional feminine touch they added.

This is Gothic Romance…
Melancholic Victoriana walks the modern runways of Paris, London and Milan.
Vampiric silhouettes fascinate the bright young things of 21st century fashion.
The sinister aesthetic captures our collective imagination through style, culture and the arts…
Lace layered over satin, a cinched waist, a demure neckline…
…velvets, silks, taffeta and damask in harmonious symphonies of darkness!
‘Romance’ is the T6 theme for February, this is ‘Gothic Romance’, a timeless beauty that will never fade…
Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style

My crew’s theme was to add in romantic details but not be too girly (for some reason, many women frown on that…shocking, I know).
Anyway, my entire look (besides jewelry & purse) is thrifted.
It’s hard to see, but I’m wearing a tiara and long gloves…I was influenced by the movie Downton Abbey!!!
Emma of Style Splash

My heart print blouse is my go-to Valentine’s Day piece. This was another item I hunted down on eBay for months…and it was worth the wait! Romance is in the everyday things for me, rather than grand, expensive gestures. So to reflect that, I’ve styled the blouse with jeans and trainers.

I think you look stunning in red, Nancy! Love the red brooch, too! We didn’t celebrate Valentine’s though I did buy Mike a card and some cologne (the closest I’ll probably ever get to Johnny Depp). He bought me…nothing!

Haha, you are so funny. I am confused though. Who is Mike and who is Nigel?
Mike and Nigel are the same person. It started as a joke when I called him Nigel for Nigel Barker on America’s Next Top Model.

Hahaha, I thought so but didn’t understand. Everytime I read Nigel that song pops in my head. We’re only making plans for Nigel. Hahaha.
I am not much of a romantic either but this was one of my favorite thrifty style challenges. Everyone created such beautiful festively romantic outfits. I know you don’t really like the color red either, but it looks soooo good on you! I love this outfit so much.

Haha, thank you very much Shelbee!
I hear what you’re saying, but I have to admit that you should wear red more often.

I hear that often when I do wear it. I just can’t love the colour.
I love your outfit and Emma’s! You also look beautiful in red, and I hope that you had a nice weekend.

Thank you very much Caroline.
Even if you don’t love the color, the silhouette of the fitted sweater, wide leg jeans and pointed toe boots is absolute perfection – you look terrific!

Thank you very much Sally, I am glad to read that!
Beautiful outfits here and I love your red sweater + brooch combo, Nancy!
I hope you are having a great week so far!
