Plaid trousers, plain awesome

plaid trousers

I bought Gerben a pair of plaid trousers, brown, stylish and trendy, and then I wanted a pair too! Or actually I was looking for a simple black blouse, because it turned out I didn’t have any blouse except this one. And although I’m not a fan of a blouse, I do think it looks nice under a v-neck jumper with a tie, or very elegant on a denim skirt with black boots. Anyway, I was looking for a blouse and went online at h&m to browse.

Not because I’m such a fan of the brand, but because I have bought fitted blouses there in the past. I think fitted is out of fashion because everything is oversized. And I’m not a fan of that either. But you have to buy something right……just say yes. So I saw a blouse made of recycled polyester, as if that would be less bad……and it was not as bulky as a cotton one. And I immediately ordered it a size smaller.

Oeps, plaid trousers

But then I accidentally saw these plaid trousers, and they were discounted too! I have also had similar trousers from h&m before, and these were also in my shopping cart before I knew it. There goes my, I never buy anything new in the months of January and February… But these are basics, right? Then it doesn’t count. In any case, the blouse and like I said, the trousers were suddenly in the basket.

I think plaid trousers look great on a man. But not on every man. I only like it on cooler guys and not on those men who spend every day at the golf club. In the Netherlands they are a certain type of people. Nothing wrong with them, just not my kind of style.

And Gerben usually wears what I like. He has no opinion of his own….haha, he better not read this! Sometimes he has to get used to something, like the plaid trousers, but in the meantime he almost has more shoes than me and his wardrobe is also becoming too small! I like that a man is also interested in what he wears.

How I like to wear them

As I said, I like to wear such plaid trousers with a blouse and a sweater. And preferably with a tie. Some simple golden accesories and my favorite suède ankle boots. But I think I also really like it with sneakers and a nice white T-shirt. When it gets warmer. I’ll have to look for that too, a good quality white t-shirt, any suggestions? And new sneakers I need too, in green and pink and white…..oh gosh. Plenty to wish for again, of course.

I love these trousers, the plaid is subtle and they will look so good casually with sneakers, a tee, and a blazer! I don’t buy much from H&M but the things I have gotten I have really enjoyed. They have some great quality pieces!

The trousers are fabulous! I agree that only cool men should wear plaid pants. My son and husband have a cool blue pair that I bought them and everyone gives compliments. It pays to have a stylist wife. Lol! Loving the throwback look too!

I am glad you showed a close up of the tie! Finding a good white tee is very difficult. I still don’t have one I love, but I will keep on the lookout for one because I love them with my skirts. Easiest styling!

I had to look super-close to even see that these were plaid—the pattern is very subtle, which is exactly how I like my plaids. These look great on you!

I love the subtle plaid pattern and the tie. I keep meaning to wear a tie but most of my shirts/blouses have bows and frills…I need to find some simpler designs but I’m always drawn to the frilly things!

Very smart look, Nancy! This outfit has an equestrian look to it. I love the variation in tone and texture. At a distance, it looks monochrome, the plaid is so subtle. Thanks for sharing and hosting the link up party. I hope you have a great weekend!
