It’s monochrome looks this month! Love that and have enough of those! At the bottom of the post the Fancy Friday linkup party is open!
Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge and myself started this series after we had hosted The Bad Buy Book for a year. Now we are ready for a new challenge! Every 15th of the month we show our Good Buy or Good-Bye item. And we want you to join!
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book about?
It is a collage of outfits! You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye ( which is an item you are going to say good bye to). We will keep buying a Bad Buy from now and then, you know, it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted(needed) to buy something etc. But of course we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday, and every time you wear it you get that holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to send in. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide a theme for each month!
So let’s start with The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Monochrome looks!
First my dear blogging friend and co-host Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
Green has been my favorite color for as long as I remember. So when we chose Monochromatic as this month’s theme, I knew I wanted to style an all green outfit. My green paisley midi skirt, green wool sweater, and vintage green heart necklace were all thrifted items purchased over the years and they are all good buys!
Charlotte of Jodie’s Touch of Style
My mom always loves a monochromatic outfit especially when she’s not super comfortable with the items (like this camo cardigan.
Debbie O.(A reader friend from Shelbee, not a blogger)
Out shopping with my Good Buy Boots and Purse, while wearing my slightly old black dress and coat. Needless to say black is my favorite non color.
Ellie of Ellibelle’s Corner
I’ve been wanting a pair of burgundy pants for some time and was excited to find these at Kohl’s on the clearance rack. Unfortunately they turned out to be a lint magnet and they seem to be a size too big on me too, so unfortunately I will be saying goodbye to these. At least I didn’t break the bank purchasing them and it did teach me another lesson of not buying something just because it’s cheap!
Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag
Definitely a good buy on the black sweater dress and the sock booties!
Mireille of Chez Mireille
This grey monochrome is still one of my favorite looks from the fall! I have loved these Amazon jeans and have been waiting for another sale to pick a different colored pair!
Sheila of Ephemera
This new-to-me Max Mara skirt definitely falls into the “Good Buy” category (nothing in this outfit is a “Good-Bye”). It was only $27.00 in a second-hand boutique, and it’s wool, lined in silk, and I love the woven “pebble” texture of it. One of my mottos is “Always be Upgrading”, so keeping an eye out on my shopping adventures for a better or best version of a specific garment…like an orange pencil skirt, for example!
Rena of Fine Whatever Blog
I often think that I shouldn’t dress in grays now that my hair is also gray but I do adore the versatility of this neutral. Head to toe ? gray is what I wore in my birthday blog post from last October. The joggers were a retail purchase (recent) as was the tee (not so recent). The hoodie and boots were thrift store finds. All of the items are keepers and therefore, good buys.
Jacqui of Mumma B Stylish
My monochrome outfit is blue with darker navy accents. I found the skirt in Primark and with the top from Matalan brought together with the patterned scarf.
And here is my monochrome look!
I could have shown you so many black monochrome looks, because I like those the best. But this outfit looks great to me too. Because of the ankle boots which I adore. The skirt was a Good-Bye, to tight.
February’s theme will be: Red/Pink
And now hop over to Shelbee’s blog to see what the other fashion bloggers are wearing!
Send your photo with a few sentences if it is a Good Buy or a Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlights! Send it please before the 10th of each month to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to batennancy@gmail.com

Oh my goodness, I have such tunnel vision. I worry myself sometimes. I was thinking monochromatic would just be one solid color – the exact same color/tone. Would not have thought of different shades of a color to be monochromatic. SO…I am enchanted by everyone’s looks. I know Ellie says her pants are a goodbye but I love that whole look. And would wear it in a heartbeat. Love all the tones of orange Sheila is sharing. Your purple booties!! All the green, Shelbee! Of course, my dear friend Kellyann looks smashing in her dress and sock booties. Well done, everyone!

Haha, actually it’s called ton sur ton if you chose different shades. But monochrome for me is just one color but different shades
Love this idea and I didn’t know that this was open to everyone. i just might try to come up with a good buy next month….we’ll see.

Such fun monochrome outfits! I really like this purple one! I find monochromatic looks a bit tricky I usually end up picking a contrasting accessory for something different!

Thanks for the feature Nancy, what a super collection of monochrome looks. Love yours the colour is amazing. Jacqui x
My outfit post today just happens to be monochromatic, too. Serendipity! I loved this featured post, and seeing all of the creative outfits on you and the other beautiful bloggers. It’s interesting to hear from others what turned out to be a good buy vs. “good bye”, also. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
Your outfit was a total surprise, as I’d expected you to wear all black. The colours are just gorgeous, what a shame the skirt was too tight! xxx
Darn it, I love monochrome and intended to send you a pic ! But enjoyed the gallery and will do better next time. Have a good weekend
Proof that monochromatic doesn’t have to be boring—loving all these interpretations of it!
